Propoxur - Answer to my bedbug problem - POOF GONE!!

    By Rekha on 09/30/2010

    Verified Purchase

I can't begin to tell you my nightmare with bedbugs. I read about Propoxur in a news article. I googled it and I bought two cans. Of course, I had to have Terminix do the major portion of the job due to heavy infestation, but Propoxur has kept them out!

    250 Propoxur Killer Bug Spray

    By Susan on 10/28/2010

    Verified Purchase

I had bed bugs and had tried a couple of the Home Depot products but they didn't really work that good. Plus I spent a lot more money at Home Depot to still have bugs. The Propoxur seems to really do the job. I only used it twice. I bought a total of 4 cans and still have 2 of them left just in case I missed any hiding places. It has a kill life of about 4 weeks. I'm very happy with it and the Do My Own Pest Control was very professional, fast shipping, always had what I wanted in stock, and good prices.

    By Joy on 10/05/2010

I am saving these just in case the bed bugs end up this way. We travel some and I am so afraid of bringing them home. It is not good to have these critters at home.

Sort Questions
Q
Does 250 Propoxur Aerosol kill bed bugs?
A

Recent studies are showing that propoxur is very effective on bed bug populations, with 100% mortality rate in some cases. However, 250 Propoxur Aerosol is currently not labeled for the treatment of bed bugs, so we cannot make a comment either way how effective it is.  The product may be officially labeled for use against bed bugs at some point in the future.

Q
How long does 250 Propoxur take to dry?
A
It will really depend on how heavy handed you are when you spray. Typically, 250 Propoxur Aerosol takes less than an hour to dry when applied according to the product label.

Q
How long do you wait to see after using this 250 Propoxur, that your problem is gone?

I am moving in two months, and I'm trying to salvage my living room furniture and bed frame. Would I just treat the entire house with this spray or does this come in the forms of fogger/bombs?

A
We assume you are treating for bedbugs. There is no exact time we can tell you when the bedbugs should be gone. You should treat every 7-10 days until you do not see any activity or receive any bites for 30 days. Most folks have to treat between 3-5 times. The key to getting rid of bedbugs quickly is to be very thorough. Treat EVERY crack, crevice, void and item that may be infested. Foggers and bombs are not effective for bedbug control because they do not penetrate into cracks and crevices where these pests actually harbor.

Q
Can I buy a larger quantity (like a 5 gallon pail) of propoxur?
A
No. We only have propoxur available in aerosol formulation.

Q
Can 250 Propoxur aerosol be used in electrical outlets?
A
We would not recommend using 250 Propoxur Aerosol in electrical outlets. While there are some aerosols that can be used in electrical outlets this use is always listed prominently on the product label. We recommend applying a dust product such as Pyganic dust with a bellow hand duster into electrical outlets where needed.
