How Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait Works
PT brand Advance 375A select granular ant bait uses special proteins and carbohydrates combined with a unique corn grit matrix that quickly entices these "select" ants to readily take the bait back to the colony. Once the bait is consumed, the reliable active ingredient, Abamectin B1, quickly reduces populations to acceptable levels.
Abamectin B1 is a GABA inhibitor that interferes with the normal functioning of an insect's nervous system and begins affecting ant populations within 24 hours. This type of insecticide allows the ants time to take the bait back to the nest where it is distributed throughout the colony. Reproduction of the colony halts once the queens have been eliminated and the workers, who carried the bait, perish.
Most common household ants
PESTS CONTROLLED WITH ADVANCE 375A: Ants, including many common varieties of household ants such as Acrobat, Argentine, Bigheaded, Carpenter, Crazy, Field, Fire, Harvester, Little Black, Pavement, Pharaoh, Odorous House and Thief Ants.
Advance 375A can be used for most common household ants that are seeking protein. Use Advance 375A in conjunction with a sweet bait such as Maxforce FC Ant Bait Gel. The two baits can be used side-by-side in convenient and clear bait plate stations. (All three items may be purchased together in our Complete Ant Kit.)
Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait can be used outdoors as a broadcast application around and close to the perimeter of the structure (8oz. per 1/2 acre), or on the interior inside wall voids. Do not use in areas that have been treated with insecticides or sprays. This will cause the bait to be unattractive to the ants. Always read the label.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Abamectin 0.011%
Advance can be used indoors and outdoors to control the ant population. This bait formulation provides for the ant's dietary needs while using the delayed-action insecticide Abamectin. Apply at a rate of 1 lb. per acre for broadcast applications. Indoors, use up to 1.5 oz. of product in heavily traveled sites. Applications may be repeated as necessary. Do not use in food/feed handling areas of food/feed handling establishments. See below for more details.
*Always read the product label completely before use.
Advance 375A can also be used in stations such as bait plate stations to protect from rain or dust and for easy placement and clean-up. Bait plate stations also protect bait from pets or children.
Yield will vary greatly with user and application needs. An 8 oz. container covers ½ acre for broadcast applications, treats around approximately 4 mounds, or treats 5-15 sites indoors. A 2 lb. container covers 2 acres for broadcast application, treats around approximately 16 mounds, or treats 20-60 site indoors.
Standard Application rates for Advance 375A:
*0.4 oz./1,000 sq. ft. – Broadcast application (1 lb. per acre)
*0.3-1.0 oz. per visible ant trail
*1.5-2.1 oz. per ant mound
*Up to 1.5 oz. per indoor crack, crevice, or void
Advance 375A is for use in the following areas:
Homes, Residential Areas, Commercial and Other Structures, Non Food/Feed Areas of Commercial Buildings, Warehouses, Hotels, Food Storage Areas, Inedible Product Areas of Meat Packing Plants, Motels, Schools, Supermarkets, Non-Occupied Patient Areas of Hospitals and Nursing Homes, Golf Courses, Parks, Lawns, and Turf.
Locate ant activity. Follow ants back to voids. Apply product to cracks and crevices or voids where ants are active. In heavily traveled sites use up to 1.5 ounces of product. Use a large Centrobulb duster puffer or other appropriate application device to place the product into crevices or voids. Repeat application as necessary.
If a residual spray is being use, keep sprays low and baits up high. Do not spray liquid or aerosol insecticides on top of bait applications.
BROADCAST APPLICATION: Use this product at a rate of 8 oz. per 1/2 acre. This is equivalent to approximately 1.8 ounces per 5000 sq. ft., or 0.4 ounces per 1,000 sq. ft. (One tablespoon equals approximately 0.3 oz. of bait.) Apply the product as uniformly as possible. Repeat application as necessary.
AROUND STRUCTURES: Lightly sprinkle the product evenly in a band approximately 1-2 feet wide around the foundation of the building. Treat visible trails with approximately 0.3 to 1 ounce of product depending on the number of ants in the trail. Repeat application as necessary.
INDIVIDUAL COLONY OR MOUND TREATMENT: Use 1.5 to 2.1 ounces of product per mound. Apply the product at the edge of the mound. Repeat application as necessary.
If using residual sprays, do not spray on top of bait applications or use bait in areas where sprays have been applied.

Buy this. You won't regret it.
By Robert on 06/01/2010
Got my shipment of this today and went right to work with it. I have pavement ants along the front sidewalk and around the edges of the driveway. I was a professional pest control tech with a major company for a couple years and have experience and success with this bait. I sprinkled some of this around and no bull- it no sooner landed and the ants around that area were picking it up and taking it to the nest. I went back a couple hours later and it looked like I did nothing, they took every last grain of this stuff. So I'll give it a couple days and check back for activity. I know this stuff works from using it before. If you choose this don't expect to see dead ants everywhere. They'll eat this and die in the nest so just look for a major decrease of activity to know that it works!

I have been having an issue with large black carpenter & argentine ants around the exterior of our log-sided home. On the deck rails and siding around the backside of the home they were in large numbers. I bought Advance 375A Select granular ant bait and gave a light sprinkle outside the area I will perform a barrier treatment with Demon WP. I have also placed several mini-trails on the deck railing where I have seen a lot of activity. Less than a week later I can't even find any of them. Excellent product.

Gone, simply gone
By Jon in Albuquerque, NM on 05/17/2010
I've had a persistent problem with what I call tiny sugar ants for years getting into the house. I've tried Amdro, Maxforce, Cynoff, and Talstar ... and the only thing that really worked was Advance 375A. As soon as I see activity in the yard I sprinkle a small amount at the mound and within days there is no activity. This is my third season using Advance and so far I still have control.

I'm no expert, but this stuff is great!
By Dan in Saint Louis, MO on 05/15/2011
We have had Odorous(?) ants all over our yard, in our detached garage, and worst of all infiltrating our brick house and moving in without paying rent! They seem to be amazing at exploiting even the smallest holes and crevices in our mortar. This had been going on for several years and so had our use of over-the-counter control methods. We were going nuts because we keep a clean house and yard and don't remember sending out invitations to the local ACIRC (Ant Council of Immigration Relocation and Colonization). A friend of mine turned me to this granular stuff and the ants loved it. Within seconds of application to their many separate foraging trails you could see an uncountable many, hoisting the IED's (Incognito Extermination Devices) onto their backs. Given the ferocity in their step and excitement on their little faces I could imagine the feast they were planning for the unsuspecting royal family when they got back to their colony. I did get a couple of complaints from a couple of lesser known colonies, but after another application or two there were no more complaints, and the genocide was complete. We can easily say that this stuff worked. Those ants loved the taste, we love the fact that they're dead, and all is now well in our little world. If this stuff gets wet, it's useless. So watch the weather and plan accordingly. Be sure to check back 10 minutes or so after applying, because I was amazed at how fast they took up the bait; keep'em well fed.

I used Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait on the back of the house, by the back door leading to the porch and instantly I could see the ants going for the bait. Wtihin 1 day they were practically gone. I would recommend this product along with Uncle Albert's bait gel for the perimeter of the windowsills. Excellent products!!

By Randy in Kent, WA on 11/06/2016
So to be clear I used the granular and the gel as recommended. Not sure which one worked better but I can tell you I don't have ants anymore. Well not alive anyway! Really easy to use just used the bait stations with gel on one side and granular on the other. I made up two stations where I had seen activity and the next day I started seeing dead ants. In a week I can't find any ants alive.

works well on most insects
By Becky in Aiken, SC on 09/13/2016
I bought this product to destroy argentine ant colonies on our property. This product worked great on other insects in the yard but did a minimal job on the argentine ant colonies. It will chase the ants back for about 2 days, so I have found the best way to use it is to sprinkle in the area you plan to be in 12 hours prior. This will then give you about 2 days to work or play, etc. Before the ants begin to move back in. I sure hope that someone comes up wirh an effective treatment soon so that we can enjoy our backyard in the summer.
No more ants

It is a bit difficult to get the granules out of the container even though there are two different dispensers on the lid. I've only had this set up for two days for so far no ants.
Seems to work

Recommended by a friend and worked within 10 days. Easy to dispense as well. Definitely worth trying.
Stuff does work
By John in Parsippany on 08/27/2016
Keep in mind this only works if you se carpenter ants You can't just put it down and wait for ants to find it it has to be an active trail. If you see ants in your house it's a myth your whole house is infested chances are you have a few colonies Outside and they are coming in for food. You do have to find the outdoor colonies for this to work I found them in and around mulch near the house and near some wood piles and a few tree stumps. You have to use granules out side And gel inside where you see them.use gel inside where you see them , then buy enough gel to go around house to put gel in every Crack or crevice in house . Just be ready to be freaked out when a few of them get in or one of them gets in put the gel near them I saw one in a picture window near mulch and tree stump then I went to store returned there had to be like 20 to 30 ants swarming the gel that night they were gone. You have to resist killing them so the gel will kill them selves. My only wish is that as soon as you put the gel down they'll smell it for anywhere then start eating it oppose to waiting when you see them, I guess no one invented that yet. We had a pest guy treat first year but we fired him cause all he did was spot treat
This stuff works!
By Bob in Strafford, NH on 08/24/2016
I used a bit of the Maxforce FC Gel bait along with this stuff, but the carpenter ants mostly turned their noses up at it. I guess they were in a protein mode. Some of the little dirt ants went after the Maxforce, but I didn't really want to harm them so I stopped applying the gel. This stuff, however... I put down a lot of it(1/2 of a bottle!), and every single grain was scarfed up - by the ants in my house, and perhaps by the entire network. There was a line of the smaller carpenter workers running out to the pile of this stuff I'd dumped, and rushing back with it. 4-5 days later, I see hundreds of carpenter ants dead or dying on my living room floor. Nothing else has done that - not even trying to crank a duster bulb full of Delta Dust into the soffet vents of my house(the nest being up in the cathedral ceiling). No more activity - no sawdust or insulation fragments on my sofa for the last 3 weeks. This stuff saved me the trouble of getting up on a ladder and trying to pump Delta Dust into a hole high up on my cathedral ceiling woodwork. Instead, these hard working little dudes carried the poison up there for me, no ladder necessary. In addition, I used to see a lot of large-ish ants(probably all carpenter) all over the yard and driveway. Nothing now. Not a single ant(except for the small dirt ants). I think this stuff nuked essentially the entire supercolony, not just the satellite nest in my house. Nothing around the house, the driveway, the patio... Nothing. Thanks, DoMyOwn and Advance!

QDo household pets need to be removed from the premises when Advance 375A has been spread about the home?
A †Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait†when applied properly is too small of an amount to harm an animal as large as a pet.† You should keep the container of the granule in a safe place as you would any other cleaning solution or product.† Keep in mind this product is only 0.011 per cent†active ingredient and the remaining 99.989% is food products that attracts the ants to eat it, so it would take a large amount of this product, almost the whole jug for an animal to get sick.

QWhich Advance product is best for carpenter ants, Advance Carpenter Ant Bait or Advance 375A Select?
Same active ingredient, at exactly the same concentration, but different labels. Both are labeled for use as bait for carpenter ants. So, I am puzzled by the overlap between these two very similar Advance products.
AThe manufacturer (of the Advance ant baits) has recognized a need to have a product that is specifically labeled and formulated for carpenter ants. The Advance Carpenter Ant Bait has granules that are perfectly sized for this type of ant and the bait matrix itself is slightly different to be more attractive to this species even though the active ingredient is the same.
QWhat is the best way to control western thatching ants?
What products would you recommend for controlling a large exterior population of these ants on wooded acreage? Including large mounds of the ants.
AMany of our customers have had success with broadcasting Advance 375A in the yard over and around the mounds and then applying Termidor as a liquid treatment around the perimeter. Termidor is our best selling ant control product.
QDo you need to water in Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait to be effective?
ANo, there is no need to water in Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait. This is actually a product that insects will eat and carry back to the colony. Please take a few moments to read over the product label to be sure you are following all directions so that you will have great results.

QDeltagard doesn't seem to effect ant colonies. Is there another product that works better?
I'm a repeat customer and enjoy using your products, as they all seem to work well when used correctly. Part of my regimen consists of applying Deltagard to my lawn outside, although it controls roaches and other bugs I still see ants nests all over the yard in fact they increase in amounts. I find myself having to sprinkle some delta dust to get rid of them. Do you have anything specifically for preventing red and black ants making nests in my yard? Thanks.
AInsecticide granules like DeltaGard do a great jobs on most insects. However, since ant colonies are underground and so is the queen, in order to eliminate the ant colony you need to get a product down underground where the queen and other members are that don't normally leave the colony. The insecticide granules like DeltaGard only kill the worker ants that walk on top of the ground and look for food. While the product is killing some of the ants, the queen and rest of the colony is still thriving underground. It is recommended to use an ant bait granular bait for your issue. Instead of killing the ants, bait granular is a food the ants pick up and take back to the colony like any other food. They end up passing the food around, the bait, and the poison ends up being fed to the queen and all of the other colony members that do not normally go outside. This method should kill the entire colony, not just the workers that walk on the surface. Our most popular ant bait is Advance 375A. You should not apply any more insecticide like DeltaGard while using bait because you don't want to kill the ants before they make it back with the bait. Apply the bait when it is not going to rain for a couple days if you can help it. You should try to let the bait remain dry as long as possible.

QI would like to know if Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait can be used in a vegetable garden?

QIs it safe to use the Advanced ant bait around a raised bed organic garden if the colony is in the garden pot?
I was told that I could use the Advanced ant bait around the outside of the garden pots even though it's an organic garden. My concern is that the the colony is inside the pot, around the roots. So the bait would end up in the pot with the plants even if I don't sprinkle it on the dirt of the pot. How can this still be safe?
A We would would using the Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait inside of bait plate stations if you are wanting to use this around your garden. If they are placed carefully inside of your garden or around it, this is safe for use in the area.

QWill it be ok if I add a drop of honey to the Advance 375A Granular Bait?
The carpenter ants have avoided the baits on my kitchen counter for two days now (containing Advance 375A)
A Baiting will take time and ants (including Carpenter Ants) will change their nutritional needs periodically throughout the year. You may want to incorporate the Maxforce FC Carpenter Ant Bait Gel if they are foraging for something sweet, rather than trying to add to an existing granule bait. We do not suggest baiting on countertops. We recommend applying the baits in our Bait Plate Stations. For more information on a successful treatment program, please review our How to Get Rid of Carpenter Ants article for additional tips on eradication.

QIs Advance 375A Select Granular Bait effective for an indoor problem with Ghost Ants?
Ghost Ants is what our former pesticide company called them. All we seem to do is move them from one spot to another. What do you recommend to use to get rid of them and keep them outside. FL home.
A The most effective way to get rid of ants will be to use a product that will not only kill the ants that actually come into contact with treated surfaces but will also be transferred back to the nest. There are a variety of liquid concentrates that work with a transfer effect such as†Termidor SC,†Taurus SC,†Dominion 2L†and†Adonis 2F.†All of these products are for use outdoors only and should be sprayed directly on or immediately adjacent to the structure for ant control (they cannot be used indoors and they cannot be broadcast sprayed outdoors and they cannot be used on edible vegetation). You can also use ant baits indoors and outdoors for ghost ant control.†Ant Baits†will be picked up by the foraging ants and carried back to the nesting area and shared. Most folks choose to use a combination of products. They use ant baits indoors and in sensitive areas and they use the liquid concentrates outdoors.

QI have an infestation of big headed ants as well as my neighbors. What product would you recommend?
My exterminator has sprayed several times?
AInsecticide granules such as Bifen granules would be a good choice to help control the population of big headed ants as it will last for 3-4 months. Bifen Granules will kill ants that venture on to treated areas. Another great choice would be to use Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait. This bait is also labeled for big headed ants specifically and would be a great choice for your use. Extinguish Plus combines the power of hydramethylnon with an insect growth regulator (like birth control for ants) to kill big headed ant workers and prevent queens from laying fertile eggs. This product would kill the ants that picked up the bait and also kill the ants back at the colony

QDoes Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait work on crazy ants?
I have severals mound in my backyard and front yard. I took an ant sample to a local pest control place and they said I had fire ants and caribbean crazy ants. Should I use this product or would the Maxforce or Invict Blitz ant bait granules work better? I don't know which one to choose.

QHow soon can I rebroadcast Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait around my house?
I used this around my house/yard last month. I am again noticing trails in my yard. Is it too soon to do another broadcast application?
AThe label for Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait states that you can retreat as needed. This means that if you have a heavy rain, or begin to see trails again you can retreat.

QTreating ants on my fig tree?
Is there a safe organic way of treating the figs on tree prior to ripening completely that will allow them to be eaten safely? I have over 200 figs still green and the size of a quarter on a 8 ft. honey fig tree.
AWe would suggest using something like Fertilome Horticultural Oil RTS. This product can be used up until the day of harvest. It is close to harvest you want to use an oil based like mineral or neem oil based products. You may also want to consult the master gardener in your area at Your Local Cooperative Extension Office.

QI purhased Advance 375A for ants. Now flies are attracted to it. Will it kill or feed them?
I have hundreds of them sitting on my patio and they're eating the granules. What do I do?
AThe flies are attracted to the ant bait as most of the ingredients in the bait are food based to help attract the ants. It's normal for the flies to be attracted to it and any fly that consumes some of the granule will most likely die from the poinson built in. To try and deter the flies from the ant bait, you could use a specifically formulated fly bait like our Maxforce Granular Fly Bait. It attracts the flies not only through food but with a sexual pheromone as well. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
