To Control Ants with Advance 3601 Dual Choice Ant Bait:

Concentrate treatment at insect activity sites. Ants are attracted to the bait and it is carried back to the nest to kill the queen and destroy the colony.

  1. Break bait stations apart from the plastic frame. To stick on vertical surfaces, remove peel and stick backing on reverse side of bait station.
  2. For thorough ant control, use as many bait stations as necessary (normally 3-4 stations for an average size room or 6-8 stations for a heavy infestation).
  3. For best results, also place bait stations along walls, baseboards, in corners, under sinks, in cabinets, pantries, near plumbing, electrical lines, potted plants, waste receptacles, sensitive electronic equipment, inside drop ceilings, wall voids, under and around equipment and appliances.
  4. Replace bait stations when necessary, approximately every 3 months.

    Stuff works

    By Mark on 04/22/2010

    Verified Purchase

I always had issues with ants in the kitchen. They seem to be coming through the walls and just walking around until they found a crumb and the army would come out in force. I bought the liquid bait stuff from Home Depot but they seemed to enjoy it. They claim it takes a few days but they would eat for 5 or 6 days and keep coming.  I finally bought this kit and after 2 days no ants period.  Couple weeks ago I spotted 20 or so in the cabinet, put out 2 traps and next day no ants or no trace of ants.  This stuff works!

    Advance Dual Choice

    By Paul on 07/31/2010

    Verified Purchase

I bought a case of this stuff and put it around the house and in the kitchen. The ants crawled around it , over it and through it, but never took the bait. This stuff is a waste of money, it shouldn't be allowed on the market. After 10 days I gave up and bought the liquid Terro baits from another company. Ants came from everywhere for the first 24 hours, took the bait brought it back home and gave it to the queen. Only 4 ants after 36 hours and then 0 after that. Don't waste your money.

ADVANCE DUAL CHOICE ANT BAIT STATIONS

    By Slimjim on 08/10/2011

    Verified Purchase

Had Pharoah ant infestations in several areas of our home. After putting out stations most areas were clear within a week. However in one area the ants came back as bad as before in about two weeks. We have put out new stations in this area and we will see how it goes.

Q
What is the best bait for small ants in house?

I had previously been using Fluorogard for small ants and it worked well. I recently found out that it's been discontinued by the manufacturer. The MaxForce does not attract these ants at all. What do you suggest as an alternative? I have cats in my house so I'd prefer something that is enclosed in a trap or that can be put in a trap.

A
We would suggest the Advance Dual Choice Ant Stations which are unique because they offer a sugar type bait and a protein type bait, both of which the ants eat, in the same bait station.  All other stations have only one formulation.  This station is very popular because it offers both baits so the ants should find what they are looking for in one station.

Q
Do the ant bait stations have to be cut somewhere so the ants can get to the bait or do I just put them out?

Im not sure how to use these baits. The Terro ones I used before required me to cut open a section so the ants can get in and out of the bait. How does the Advance bait stations work?

A
To use the Advance Dual Choice Ant Bait Stations all you have to is break bait stations apart from the plastic frame. To stick on vertical surfaces, remove peel and stick
backing on reverse side of bait station. The stations already have an opening on either side where the ants can come in and take the bait.

Q
Ants do not seem interested in Advance Dual Choice Ant Bait Stations?

I have been battling sugar ants (Argentine Ants) for a few months. Other baits I have purchased at local hardware stores did not work. I purchased the Advance Dual Choice Ant Bait Stations, based on the information on your web site. After three days with these stations, it doesn't seem that the ants are interested in the bait. I see them check it out, but never have them flock to any of the bait stations. If I put out syrup, the ants flock to that. Do you have any suggestions?

A
The ants that you are having an issue with may be more interested in the moisture content of syrup than they are with the actual syrup. If the ants have not taken any bait no matter what types of bait you have put out, you may have a species of ant that makes their own food by laying non-viable eggs or by growing a fungus. We recommend that you use a spray like Phantom that will be transferred back to the nesting site. Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide that has a delayed reaction which allows ants time to get back to the colony and spread the product. In essence, the ants will not be able to tell that the product is in place and they will pick it up on the fine hairs all over their body and inadvertently carry it back to the colony where over a course of a few days it will knock out the entire colony. Phantom works really well because you don't have to worry about whether the ants will accept bait, they just need to walk over the treated areas.

Q
Do Advance Dual Choice Ant Bait stations work for black carpenter ants?

If not, what's the best bait for carpenter ants? Do I have to put the Maxforce gel into a plastic bait tray or just squirt it on the ground in little puddles around the outside of the house? Is Advance granular bait perimeter protection more or less effective than the Maxforce gel? It's only March and I've seen dozens of black ants inside my house already.

A
Advance Dual Choice Ant Stations are not labeled for carpenter ants, therefore they will not work.  If you do have carpenter ants inside your home as well as outside, you should definitely purchase our Carpenter Ant Kit #1.  It has a very high success rate and is by far our best selling solution for carpenter ants.  The Advance Carpenter Granules in the kit are meant to be placed outside around the home to help kill carpenter ants around the house and in the yard.  The Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel in the kit is meant for use inside the home and should be placed where you see activity.  You only want to place small dabs about the size of a dime where you see activity.  Carpenter ants are most active in the middle of the night when you are sleeping, so sometimes it helps to get up in the middle of the night to see exactly where the most activity is.
