Product Overview

New bait cartridges in our pro kits now contain 33% more bait! Control more termites for longer periods of time.

The Advanced Termite Bait System is the next generation in termite baiting. It is one of the most widely installed bait systems by professional pest control companies today. Unlike older bait systems, the Advance Termite bait stations have larger vertical slots that allow for maximum wood-to-soil contact, creating the perfect opportunity for termite attack. Each station contains a wood base and a Termite Inspection Cartridge of enticing Puri-Cell cullulose matrix that is very appetizing to termites. When termites are found in the stations, the cartridge is replaced with a termite bait that wipes out the entire termite colony.

The Advance Termite Bait System Pro Kit contains:

  • 10, 15 or 20 Termite Monitoring Stations that each contain a wood base and a termite inspection cartridge. These stations are to be placed 10-20 feet apart around your home. Larger homes will require more stations.
  • 6 Trelona Termite Bait Cartridges for use when termite activity is present in the stations.
  • 1 Spider Access Tool for easy access to the bait stations.

In the Termidor SC kit option, the bottle size is 20 oz.

How Advance Termite Bait System Kit Works

The Advanced Termite Bait System is the next generation in termite baiting. The termite bait station features vertical slots that allow for maximum wood-to-soil contact, creating the perfect opportunity for termite attack. Each station contains a Termite Monitoring Base with preferred wood that is appetizing to termites. Above this rests a second cellular source, the Termite Inspection Cartridge containing Puri-Cell matrix in a clear cartridge that makes inspection easy. A Quick-Lock cap eliminates keys and hinges. The Spider access tool allows a technician to open the stations easily while standing.

Stations should be checked quarterly by removing the Quick-Lock Cap (using the included Spider Tool) and the Termite Inspection Cartridge. If termite activity is observed in one or more stations, the Termite Inspection Cartridge in those stations is replaced with a Termite Bait Cartridge containing the active ingredient Novaluron. Novaluron acts slowly enough for termites to spread it throughout the colony, resulting in colony elimination. The Advance Termite Bait System Kit allows for accurate monitoring and localized treatment before termites reach the structure.

Target Pests

Subterranean termites

Target Uses

Install around the perimeter of homes and commercial buildings. Stations are placed in the ground (usually with a post hole digger or shovel) every 10 feet around the structure. The stations will attract termites before they ever reach the structure, allowing you to bait, eventually killing the termites. Monitor the stations on a quarterly basis. If termite activity is present, replace the Inspection Cartridge with the Termite Bait Cartridge.

The Advance Termite Bait System Kit should be used for prevention. Installing bait stations alone will not treat termites that have already infested a structure. If used in conjunction with a liquid termite treatment (See Subterranean Termite Treatment Guide), use only non-repellent termiticides such as Termidor SC.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Termite Bait Cartridges - Novaluron - 0.5%

Application Instructions

*Always read the product label completely before use.

  1. Install Advance Bait Stations (including the wood base and termite monitoring cartridge) into the ground every 10-20 feet around the perimeter of the structure. Stations should be placed 2-4 feet away from the foundation, but not directly under the drip line from the roof of the structure. To dig holes for the stations, use a 2 ¾ in. hand or electric auger or post hole digger. The cavity for each station should extend 2 to 4 in. below the stations’ housing to allow excess moisture to drain.
  2. Monitor stations every 90 days for termite activity. Use the included Spider Tool to open each station. A cotter pin hand tool or small pliers make removal of the cartridges easy.
  3. If termite activity is present, replace the Termite Inspection Cartridge with a Trelona Termite Bait Cartridge. (Be sure to remove the plastic wrapper from the TBC before placing inside the station.)
  4. Inspect active bait stations every 90 days to see if termite activity has stopped. When activity stops, replace the Trelona Termite Bait Cartridge with a Termite Inspection Cartridge. Repeat process as needed.
  5. Replace the wood bases and Termite Inspection Cartridges every 12 months for best results. Wood that is soggy or moldy should be replaced as soon as possible.

    Really works

    By Irv on 09/15/2008

Seven weeks later, September 11, 2008; Of the 14 stations that I installed, 6 were hit with termites. Four monitoring cartridges were entirely consumed; 90% of one was gone, and 50% of the fifth. 6 bait cartridges were installed. I was skeptical, at first. But, the Advance Termite Bait System really works.

    Advance Termite Bait Station

    By Jim on 05/09/2010

Very happy with the system; Have used a different system in the past and when I compared the advance system to it; it was superior in every way. Very easy to install. I thought I was going to have to use an auger but first tried with a post hole digger and that worked fine. Installed 14 stations in 50 minutes..... very easy!

    As easy as it looks

    By Bruce on 06/27/2010

I had a company install and monitor stations for several years, it was expensive. I decided to do it myself. It was as easy as the video shows, the post hole digger is perfect for the job. These stations are wider and seem of better quality and design than those used by the commercial company whose little lids would get lose and get sucked up into the lawn mower.

Advance Termite Bait system - Easy Installation

    By Jerry on 03/24/2011

I recently purchased the Pro-Kit Bait system with 15 stations. I also found a 2-1/2" auger bit which I used to drill the holes for the bait stations. The installation was easy and the folks that prepare these stations have them all ready to install. I couldn't ask for a better product. Complete instructions are easy to follow as well.

Many advantages to using this product

    By Irv on 07/10/2008

I did extensive research on baiting systems and settled in on the Advance Termite Bait System, based on its many advantages. DoMyOwnPestControl is great.  The stuff was shipped in one or two days. Fortunately, UPS Ground delivers to me from the Atlanta area within the next day of shipping. I would definitely buy from this web site again.

Why can't I just place the bait in the station and not use the advanced termite inspection and the advanced termite monitoring base?

A
The answer is a little involved, but basically it is scientifically proven and required that all baiting systems start out with monitoring stations.  Every baiting system on the professional market is that way for a reason.  The reason is because you want the termite colony to infest the station and think that the normal wood inside and normal monitoring cartridge is a valid food source.  They will hit it hard because no termites will be dying at first.  Once they have eaten on the wood and monitoring cartridge for a little while and you replace it with the bait, they will still think it is normal wood and cartridge and injest the bait much faster, ensuring the colony is eliminated.  It has been scientifically proven that if you start out with bait only, and the termite colony starts dying right after eating it, they will leave the station and move on before enough termites have eaten it to kill the colony.  Since the point of the baiting system is to eradicate a whole colony, it is very important enough of them eat the bait or it will not work.  The only way to ensure this is to get them hooked on the normal wood and monitoring cartridge first.

Q
Under customer reviews John stated that these bait stations only target the young termites of a colony.

Is there any truth to this statement, and if so on average how long does your bait station take to actually take to kill the entire colony? Thank You, A potential Buyer

A
John is mistaken.  Termite baiting systems will only effect the worker termites of a colony, the most important ones whose job it is to find food.  The stations target any termite, young or old, that is a worker and finds the food for the colony.  Baiting systems work by killing the worker termites which provide food for the colony.  If the worker termites die, then the colony crashes.  This can take a few months up to a year depending on the size of the colony and other factors.

Q
What is the annual operating cost for a 15 stations of Advance Termite Bait System?

Are there any additional start-up costs associated for 15 holders and bait station system? What is needed to be replaced annually and what would be the current annual cost if you had termite activity in 8 of the 15 bait stations.

A
Every 12-24 months you will need to replace the wood base (TMB) which at the current market price will be $43.50 for all 15 stations and the Termite Inspection Cartridge (TIC) which at the current market price is $58.90 for a bag of 25. When activity is found and you must use the Termite Bait Cartridge (TBC) you can purchase the bait in a box of 6 baits for $95.76 at the current market price.

Q
When should you replace the wood-base in the Advance Termite Bait Station? When do you need to clean out the whole station?
A
You should clean out all of the Advance Termite Bait Stations completely and replace the wood base at least every 12 months, or once a year.  Depending on where you live and the climate and amount of rain, you may need to replace the wood base more often.  If the wood bases become very soggy and moldy then you should replace them.

Q
Can you put two Advance Termite Bait Stations at the same location?

If you have activity actually on your foundation or in a specific location, would it be useful to put two Advance Termite Bait Stations together at the location? Also, is there any other liquid spray products that can be used along with the stations?

A

You do not want to place two Advance Termite Bait Stations next to each other, if you have activity. The label does not permit this, and also you could possibly disturb the colonies entry trails into the other station by digging into the ground. Termidor SC is the only liquid that you would want to use near a termite bait station, but you can only place Termidor SC next to the foundation of the structure.
