Q  How much Advion Fire Ant Bait will I need for 1 1/2 acres? (In SC with a Yorkie who loves to lay in the grass.) A You will need 2 pounds of Advion Fire Ant Bait to treat 1 1/2 acres per application. Up to 4 applications may be applied per year. These are generally applied at 12 to 16 week intervals.  Advion fire ant bait should be applied at the first sign of fire ant, bigheaded ant or pavement ant activity. Applications may be made at any time of the day, but are more effective when ants are actively foraging, usually when the soil surface temperature is above 60o F. According to the product label, your Yorkie should be out of the treatment area while the bait is being applied and he/she can return after the application is complete.
