Advion Roach Bait Arena

Dupont Advion cockroach bait arena can be used to control roach populations indoors and outdoors with the active ingredient indoxacarb, an insecticide that acts through ingestion by cockroaches. Foraging roaches ingest the indoxacarb in the Roach Bait Arenas and spread the ingredient to other roaches where they hide. Each bag contains 60 stations. Adhesive backs are included so that the stations can be mounted on surfaces such as the corners and sidewalls of cabinets.

How Advion Roach Bait Arenas Work

Advion Cockroach Bait Arenas contain bait material with the active ingredient indoxacarb, an insecticide that acts through ingestion. The activity of the insecticide allows adequate consumption of the bait by cockroaches prior to the onset of mortality. Indoxacarb inhibits the flow of sodium ions into nerve cells, resulting in impaired nerve function, inability to feed, paralysis, and eventually death. This process begins immediately but it may take several days for the insect to die. The active ingredient is then transferred throughout the colony through touching and indirectly through feeding on feces or poisoned carcasses.

Advion Roach Bait Arenas protect bait from contaminants and keep bait fresh for up to three months. Because the stations already contain bait, application is incredibly easy and convenient.

Target Pests

Small roaches

PESTS CONTROLLED: Cockroaches. Label does not exclude any species.

Target Uses

Use Advion Roach Bait Arenas indoors and outdoors adjacent to structures for roach infestations or in areas at risk of infestation. Though the labeling does not exclude any roach species, bait in arenas is generally more accepted by smaller roaches such as German and Brown-Banded roaches. Arenas are ready to use out of the bag, making them a great option when convenience is key and where bait needs to be protected from contaminants such as dust. Arenas can also be applied vertically with the included adhesive when discretion is needed, such as behind furniture in hotel rooms.

Arenas are convenient for use in areas like drawers and cabinets where bait could otherwise be at risk of contaminating utensils or food. Do not use residual sprays on top of arenas or in areas where arenas will be placed. Advion Roach Bait Arenas can be used as part of a bait rotation program to avoid resistance in roach populations.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Indoxacarb 0.6%

Application Instructions

  1. Thoroughly inspect infested area to determine proper Advion Cockroach Bait Arena placement and number of arenas necessary to treat the area.
  2. Enough Advion Cockroach Bait Arenas must be used to provide adequate bait to control the cockroach populations present. Recommended placements: Place 3-10 bait arenas per 100 linear feet of horizontal surface primarily around wall perimeters and other areas away from walls such as but not limited to, around centrally located island sinks, cabinets, and appliances. Place maximum number of Advion Cockroach Bait Arenas with heavy cockroach infestations.
  3. Place Advion Cockroach Bait Arenas in areas where cockroaches frequent such as along walls or corners, under or near kitchen appliances and industrial equipment, under sinks, in cabinets, and utility areas.
  4. Each Advion Cockroach Bait Arena may be placed on a vertical or horizontal surface using an adhesive.
  5. Inspect ADVION Cockroach Bait Arenas periodically and replace depleted bait arenas as needed based on severity of the initial cockroach infestation and a continuing control program. For Advion Cockroach Bait Arenas placed outdoors, replace every 3 months, or sooner if arena becomes depleted of bait.
  6. Avoid direct contact of Advion Cockroach Bait Arenas with broadcast, spot or crack and crevice directed pest control applications. Do not place bait arenas in locations recently treated with other pest control products as spray residues could render the bait less palatable to cockroaches and reduce effectiveness of the bait arenas.

*** Always read the product label completely before use ***

Each bag contains 60 bait arenas.

Standard Application Rates:

  • 3-10 arenas per 100 linear feet or horizontal surface – User higher rate for severe infestations.
  • Replace after 3 months or when bait is depleted.

For use in the following areas:

Including but not limited to single and multi-family residential buildings, schools, commercial and industrial facilities (including warehouses, apartments, supermarkets, restaurants, motels, hotels, hospitals, food handling/storage establishments), and transportation equipment such as aircraft, trains, ships, boats, buses.

Indoors

Place arenas in or near cockroach harborage areas or areas known to be frequented by cockroaches. Exact placement of stations indoors should be based on a complete monitoring and inspection. Do not apply stations in areas where sprays have been used or will be applied. See our Indoor Roach Control Guide for images. Examples of room-by-room placements include:

Kitchen Placements

  • Refrigerator: Between refrigerator and nearby appliance, such as the dishwasher
  • Sink: Alongside pipe collar where drainpipe enters the wall
  • Cupboards: Flush mounted against an upper corner
  • Other appliances: Behind microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, etc.
  • Floor placements: Underneath dishwasher and/or oven

Bathroom Placements

  • Toilet: Mounted on upper rear corner of tank
  • Lower Cabinets: Flush mounted against an upper corner
  • Sink: Alongside pipe collar where drainpipe enters the wall

Other Rooms

  • Closets: Flush mounted against an upper corner
  • Appliances: Behind the television, stereo, computer monitor, fish tank, wall clocks, light fixtures, etc.
  • Dressers: Flush mounted in corner alongside the interior of the drawer frame
  • Furniture: Under base of couch and/or bed where crumbs accumulate
  • Utility Room/Area: Underneath hot water heater and/or adjacent to washing machine
  • Garage: Flush mounted to door frame where roaches can enter residence

Outdoors

Arenas should be placed adjacent to structures. Use in protected areas to minimize exposure to rain and other environmental factors. Focus on areas where roaches may enter the structure, such as near doorways, windowsills, and where utilities enter the structure.

Advion Roach Bait Arena Features

  • Active ingredient indoxacarb has low toxicity to people and pets.
  • Stations protect bait from children and pets and from contaminants.
  • Arenas may be placed vertically using included adhesive.
  • Indoor/Outdoor use.
  • Easier and more effective than sprays.

Extra Tips

  • Use stations within 1 year of opening bag.
  • Replace stations when bait is depleted or within 3 months of placement.
  • Using a combination of bait arenas and bait gel increases bait acceptance.
  • Bait arenas are most effective for smaller roaches such as German and brown-banded roaches.
  • Stations are useful in areas when harsh conditions exist that may compromise gels, such as high moisture/humidity, temperature extremes, or dust. Stations are also helpful in sites that are difficult to service regularly.
  • Always practice good sanitation by eliminating other food and water sources to make the bait more attractive. See our page about How to Get Rid of Roaches for more information.
  • Good programs rotate baits to avoid resistance. Change baits every few months or alternate with different bait (and different active ingredients) for best results.

5 of 5 stars  Infestation Gone!
By C.c. in Brooklyn, New York on 01/24/2010

This is an effective way to rid your home of roaches when you have small children. My apartment became infested quickly over a few months. I did not want to spray insecticides because of my children. Store bought roach baits were not working. I purchased Advion Roach Bait and in two days noticed that roaches were either dead, or so poisoned they could no longer run. After a few weeks, I forgot I ever had a roach infestation in my home.

5 of 5 stars  Good stuff
By Alex in New York, NY on 08/12/2010

Arrived quickly as advertised. I think it was 60 things in the bag, plus sticky tape for each. I've had a German roach infestation in my NYC apartment for the last decade and a half. I put these things all over my kitchen and the very next day I started seeing lethargic roaches just hanging out on my kitchen floor in broad daylight. As advertised, this stuff makes them so drunk and uncoordinated that they either starve to death, get cannibalized and spread the poison, or become easy targets for your squashing. Roaches definitely go for the bait - I find a dozen or so belly up each day, and I can see huge bite marks inside the arena. While it's been about two weeks and my infestation is still here, I can see it's well on its way to destruction. PRO: These things smell like peanut butter. I can see why roaches want to eat them. Who wouldn't? CON: So much suffering. I'm so sorry, my insect friends!

We have a large warehouse that was suddenly overtaken by at least 5 different kinds of roaches. I used this product and within a week we don't seem to have any. At first they walked around like in a daze and then all of the sudden we came to work and they were gone. Can only assume that they went back to their nests to die. It's a great product and I hope that they never become iimmune to it.

Our kitchen was overrun to the point where roaches wandered day or night. It was awful. We had tried using the popular brands of bait traps which resulted in little or no change. A few days after putting out 60 Advion arenas we noticed dozens of dead pests. Within two weeks....we have our kitchen and piece of mind back. Highly recommended!

I have been battling these darn roaches for a few years and my husband hates when I spray roach sprays. Even hate the organic safer spray. These bait station are awesome. We placed them and the next day there were roaches dragging around on deaths door. We have seen a steady decline in the past month we have had them out. A great and effective product.

By Georgann in Collierville,TN on 05/18/2016

These work really well. We have used these before but have trouble finding them in this disk form that you can put anywhere. There is enough in this bag to do 2 or 3 houses and put them in all the nooks and crannies roaches love. With these you do not have to worry about pet exposure and it has stopped completely any roach activity. My daughter has an old house and these have also worked completely in that house to get the roaches that get in from the attic and crawl space.

I bought this for my son -- who is living in an apartment. I bought this product along with Advion Roach Bait Gel... this works well in areas where you just can use the gel because you cant get your hands in the tight spaces. So, he put some under the stove, refrigerator, etc. and other places too, in addition to the gel. No more roaches have been seen!!! Great stuff.

By Robert in little rock, ar on 09/29/2015

So far the results have been poor. We placed according to instructions and the bait traps have been in place for 2 weeks and we have seen no change....we did not have a major outbreak just wanted to control what we have seen.

We are sorry to hear that The Advion Bait Stations have not worked up to your expectations. Please don't be discouraged! Roach populations do not build up over night and they do not go away over night. Baiting alone does take a long time to eliminate roaches. We do recommend that you use bait as part of your program but we also recommend using an insecticide spray and an insect growth regulator for faster control. Please take a few moments to read our Roach Treatment Guide to learn how to implement a successful roach control program.: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/how-to-get-rid-of-roaches-a-458.html (copy and paste the link into your browser) Please let us know if you have any questions or need assistance after reading the guide. 1 of 5 stars  Disappointed Again
By Nancy in Des Plaines, IL on 09/14/2015

Hard to believe but I purchased another product with such high hopes of eliminating my roach problem only to have no luck at all! I put out all 60 baits and not one little nibble on any of the baits! NOT ONE! Makes me think these are old bait stations not worth the $40 I blew on them! So disappointed. Guess I'll try making my own bait with boric acid. Found some receipies online. Maybe I'll have better luck and a lot cheaper! :-(

    Expert Response   Expert response:
We noticed you had the bait a very short time before deciding they would not work for you. Please allow the bait a few weeks to actually kill the roaches. Roach baits are made to work very slowly to allow the roaches to pass the bait around the nest. It is very common for the bait to not look like it is being eaten because roaches only consume a very small amount at a time. You should also note that while baiting is an important part of roach control, it is only part of an elimination program To learn how to implement a successful roach control program please read our Roach Treatment Guide: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/how-to-get-rid-of-roaches-a-458.html

    5 of 5 stars  Wonderful
By Nancy in Charlotte, NC on 08/26/2015

I started with the syringes of liquid poison. It was like a roach bomb went off. They were falling from the counters disoriented and dying. It was life God said Leave and be gone. I then bought the roach motels for my cabinets and they left them too. I used to have to wipe them away as I was doing anything at my counters. Now I see one or two mini's during a whole encounter or use of the kitchen. AND I am no longer afraid to turn on the light after dark from fear of the evacuation.. I love my kitchen and am so glad to be the ruler of it again! Thank you!!!!!

QAdvion bait stations not working?
We saw 1 roach scurry from behind the oven up the wall after cranking the oven way up to 500 to bake something. I had been smelling a weird musty smell that I associate with roaches for a month or two but had not seen any. We had the AC running so I thought if might be musty from not having windows open though. We never see anything scurrying if we flip the lights in the middle of the night. Have had the stations placed for a few days but have not seen any dead or dying roaches. What gives?

AJust because you are not seeing dead roaches does not mean they are not dieing. They are not always going to die out in the open and often times will die in their nest. Are you seeing less roaches than you were before you put the stations down? Do you have enough stations down for the amount of infestation you have and is there still bait inside the stations you put down? Also, are you using any IGR's with your roach control regiment? If you are only using a bait, you could be killing off part of the colony just as quickly as they reproduce, so using a product like Gentrol IGR will sterilize the roaches so they cannot keep reproducing. Please look over our guide How To Get Rid of Roaches to make sure you are taking all the necessary chemical and non chemical steps to properly and completely eliminate the infestation.

QDoes this work for Large Roaches? I have Palmetto Bugs and other Large Roach Type Bugs.

AThe Advion Roach Bait Arena made for smaller roaches such as the Brown-Banded or German roaches. When dealing with the larger roaches such as the Palmetto Bugs (aka American Roaches) it may be better to use a roach bait gel such as The Maxforce FC Magnum or the Advion Roach Bait Gel. You can apply the gel directly to cracks or crevices and you will not have to worry about whether or not the roach can fit into a station.

QHow often I need to replace Advion Roach Bait Arenas in an apartment?
I placed Advion roach bait 3 months ago and I still see roaches, the baits are not depleted. Should I replace them?

A

Roach infestations do not build up in a short period of time and they do not usually go away in a short period of time especially in an apartment. Roach infestations can take several months to get rid of, though most folks see the infestation dramatically decline within the first couple weeks of treating. You would want to replace the Advion Roach Bait Arenas as often as needed when they are empty.

We recommend that you use caulk or other suitable material to close any crack, crevice or gap around baseboards, pipes, wires, cables, cabinets, vents, door frames, window frames and any other place where insects could enter. This will help stop the roaches from moving from adjoining apartments through the walls and into your apartment

In addition, you should spray around the perimeter of each room with a good insecticide such as Demon WP and you should use an insect growth regulator (Gentrol) to control the breeding cycle of the roaches that have already entered your apartment.

QDo Advion Roach Bait Arenas expire? Or do the roaches become immune?
In the beginning (a couple/few years ago), they worked great. We pretty much eradicated our roach problem. They're coming back again - and there is still plenty of stuff left inside each station. So my question is whether they expire - or is it possible the roaches have developed an immunity to this product?

A

Advion Roach Arenas do contain bait so after several years they can be less palatable to the roaches. Please take a few moments to review our How to Get Rid of Roaches article for some helpful information. Just because you are not seeing dead roaches does not mean they are not dieing. Switching baits after a length of time using the same one is a good idea for a good pest management program for roach elimination. We also have Roach Control Kits that offer a great pest control plan for this insect.
