Apply Advion Roach Bait Gel as a crack and crevice treatment indoors and outdoors in commercial, residential, and industrial sites.

How Advion Roach Bait Gel Works

The brief delay in mortality caused by the active ingredient Indoxacarb allows cockroaches to consume the bait and return to the harborage site to contaminate other cockroaches resulting in significant reduction in infestation levels. Each roach that comes in contact with bait can contaminate up to 40 other roaches by way of contact, feces, or the other roaches feeding on its poisoned carcass. This domino effect knocks out roach populations at an incredible rate.

Target Pests

German, American, Australian, Smoky-Brown, Brown, Asian, and Brown-Banded species of cockroaches

PESTS CONTROLLED WITH ADVION COCKROACH BAIT GEL: Cockroaches such as German, American, Australian, Smoky-Brown, Brown, Asian, Oriental, and Brown-Banded.

Target Uses

Use Advion Roach Bait Gel indoors and outdoors as a crack and crevice treatment to control even the toughest of infestations. Advion cockroach bait gel is excellent for German roaches as they are the most common indoor infesting roach. Advion roach bait gel may be used in conjunction with Insect Growth Regulators, such as Gentrol Point Source Stations, for even more complete control of all life stages of cockroaches.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Indoxacarb, 0.6%

Advion Roach Bait Gel Application Instructions

Always read the product label completely before use.

  • For heavy infestations of cockroaches, apply 3 to 5 spots of ADVION cockroach gel bait per 10 linear feet.
  • For light to moderate infestations of cockroaches, apply 1-3 spots of ADVION cockroach gel bait per 10 linear feet.
  • Each spot of ADVION gel bait should equal about 0.5 grams (approx. 1/4” diameter)
  • For all levels of cockroach infestations, when a bead of ADVION® cockroach gel bait is used, apply a small thin bead that is less than 1/8” wide and approximately 2 inches long.

Each 30 g tube yields approximately 60 bait placements. Each box of 4 x 30 g tubes yields approximately 240 placements.

Advion Roach Bait Gel is for use in the following areas:

Residential, Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial Areas; Use sites include single and multi-family residential buildings, schools, commercial and industrial facilities (including warehouses, apartments, supermarkets, restaurants, motels, hotels, hospitals, food handling/storage establishments), and transportation equipment such as aircraft, trains, ships, boats, buses; residential homes, industrial facilities, offices, warehouses, commercial kitchens, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, hotels, buses, trains, aircraft, retail and commercial establishments, and other areas infested with cockroaches

Where to apply Advion Roach Bait Gel INDOORS:

  • 3 to 5 spots of gel bait per 10 linear feet for heavy infestations.
  • 1 to 3 spots of gel bait per 10 linear feet for light to moderate infestations.

ADVION cockroach gel should be applied to areas frequented by cockroaches such as between different elements of construction, between equipment and floors, openings leading into voids and hollow spaces in floors, walls, ceilings, equipment legs and bases, around plumbing pipes, doors and windows, and behind and under appliances, cabinets, sinks, closets, and any other equipment that cockroaches are typically known to hide.

See our Indoor Roach Control Guide for more examples of indoor placement.

Where to apply Advion Roach Bait Gel OUTDOORS:

  • A thorough inspection around a structure may reveal areas where cockroaches are gaining access. Attempts should be made to remove the access.
  • ADVION cockroach gel bait may also be applied as a spot or thin bead (see above) to pest entry sites such as along windows, doors, between construction elements, sewer areas, adjacent trees which harbor cockroaches, along walls, garbage holding areas, or suitable placement site acting as a cockroach harborage. Bait placements should be made to reduce the potential of subsequent human contact.
  • Bait placements should be inspected periodically and fresh bait applied as needed.
  • Bait should be placed in cracks and crevices to reduce exposure to rain, dust, and sunlight.

Extra Tips for Using Advion Roach Gel Bait

  • Avoid applying ADVION cockroach gel to surfaces recently treated with residual sprays.
  • Surfaces treated with ADVION cockroach gel should not be treated with residual sprays. Keep sprays low and baits high.
  • Repeat applications may be made upon inspection during follow-up inspections of the treated areas.
  • Do not apply to surfaces that food contacts.
  • Do not allow open foods to contact gel material.

* Do not apply bait to surfaces where the temperature may exceed 120-130 degrees F because this may cause the bait to liquefy and the gel to lose effectiveness.

* If gel comes into contact with exposed surfaces, remove the bait and wash the area with soap and water.

* Store out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight for up to one year.

* Avoid placing bait on porous surfaces, e.g. concrete or cardboard, or where it may be exposed to air currents. These conditions may cause the bait to dry out and be less attractive.

* If response slows down, try rotating with a different brand of cockroach bait.

* Always practice good sanitation by eliminating other food and water sources to make the bait more attractive.

5 of 5 stars  Worked like a miracle
    By Gail on 06/12/2007

My husband and I could hardly believe it. The Advion Cockroach Gel Bait worked like a miracle. My husband used it first on Saturday morning, 6/9/07. The next day most of the gel had been eaten off the back of our dog feeder (against the wall, so the dogs couldn't get it). That had been the roach's favorite hunting ground. I applied some more, and by that night they were, for the most part, gone. Today is Tuesday and they're GONE! I actually bought way too much, so I am going to help out two of my friends, who each have problems that they haven't been able to fix. I know that with one tube each, their problems will be over. It really is a miraculous product. Thank you so much for having such a wonderful product.

5 of 5 stars  Another WOW!
By David in Little Rock, Arkansas on 02/14/2010

I've never felt compelled to write a review like this, but here goes... After moving into my dream house I discovered I had a huge roach problem. Every morning when I snapped on the lights in the kitchen you see them scurrying everywhere. Even the exterminator coming several times brought no salvation. After reading the reviews here, I bought some Advion and went to work putting it out as recommended. The next morning when I went into the kitchen I was greeted by DOZENS of dead or dying roaches. I have not seen a live one in days. If you have a roach problem, look no further!

5 of 5 stars  Attractive Gel (the key is dots)
By Ron in indiana on 06/17/2009
    Verified Purchase

I have bait resistant roaches in my area. I put this down with about 8 small dots on a 1"x2 index card in several areas of the home (I don't like gel on cabinets). About 2 hours later, the bait behind the fridge was gone, in cabinets around the home, gone, under the table gone. Advion Roach Bait Gel is the best attractive bait I have seen, it draws the bugs out and feeds them their last meal!! Buy the bait gun for easy control of putting down the dots.

5 of 5 stars  German Cockroaches
By William in SW Florida on 05/26/2010

This stuff is AMAZING!!!! I tried several different brands of store brought bug spray. Several different types of roach baits. I was getting up in the middle of the night to spray the roach infestation in my kitchen. Nothing even put a dent in the roach population. After ONE (yup one) application of Advion.....NO ROACHES!! If you have a German cockroach problem, BUY THIS STUFF!!! It really really works!!

5 of 5 stars  NO MORE ROACHES
By Joe in Washington, DC on 02/09/2013
    Verified Purchase

I was at the end of my rope. I had a case of cockroaches in my old house that changed the way I looked at life. They would crawl over you when you slept at night, they completely take over the kitchen and bathroom at night, come out at the dinner table when we ate, making it impossible to invite people to your home for the embarrassment you would feel. I tried store bought insecticides until the home was unlivable because of fumes, but still no change in the amount of roaches. I was thinking of selling the house and moving. In desperation I tried ADVION GEL, and to my surprise, almost overnight, they (the roaches) were gone!!! It was miraculous, the way it wiped out a problem that I honestly thought was too severe to ever change. I cannot put into words the gratitude I feel for the people who made this stuff.

Cockroaches were not attracted to the bait when applied as directed. No dead bugs, a waste of money. Got professionals in the next week, they too used a "bait" product. Within 3 days dead bugs started showing up. Bait works, just not this bait.

This product has the best results. My apartment complex is infested, they spray continually never lasting results. I used one tube, two months ago nothing but dead roaches. I followed up with another tube seen maybe six sick ones or dead, now none. At night no movement. I got my life back. I told management they still have the same company coming out regularly. As for me, day and night no movement, and before using Advion, I worked packing, vacuumed, washed to no end. Thanks does not quite explain how I feel .

5 of 5 stars  It Works!!!
By Angel in Deltona, Fl on 09/07/2017

I bought a used piano for my daughter and the person geneously threw in a few roaches. We tried every pesticide on the market, wasted more money on a pest service and the infestation just got worst. Almost a year later, a new neighbor from my old hood in the Bronx told me about Do My Own Pest Control and Advion. As soon as it arrived I applied the bait through my house before leaving for work. The next morning after my shift I got home to find roaches everywhere. I counted 132 roaches dead or dying. Every morning for a week dead or dying roaches when I come home. On the second week I applied a second treatment after seeing a live roach. Again, dead and dying roaches everywhere. On the third week I applied a third treatment as a precaution. It's going on 3 months since the first treatment and we have not seen a roach in weeks. My son set out pnut butter on a plate for a week with his gocam on it. Not one roach came out. 3 treatments roaches gone and I still have 2 1/2 tubes left. GREAT PRODUCT!!

5 of 5 stars  Roach Bait beyond belief
By Martha in Columbus GA on 09/04/2017

Could not believe my floor the next morning after putting out bait the night before. I have birds and cannot use anything that will harm their delicate breathing system. I put this gel in the rollers at the bottom of their cages and -- WOW!! -- start killing that night. Roaches must love the taste because I have more roaches than I thought according to the floor the next morning and for the next several days. HIGHLY recommend!

I have an exterminator monthly but my neighbors have the problem, which of course, is now my problem. Used the gel and as others said, the next morning I found several dead or dying roaches. Gross, I know. Have had two treatments from my exterminator since, and I hope to not jinx it but looking better. I still see small bugs but did another treatment with the gel as I cleaned the kitchen today. Here's hoping.

QHow often do you put Advion Roach Bait Gel out. For instance, every 30 days or every 90 days?

AYou should place Advion Roach Bait Gel out as often as needed.  You should only apply roach gel out if you have a problem.  If you do not have a problem, you should not place roach gel out as it is a food that will attract roaches, you do not want to attract a problem if you don't have one.  If you do have a current roach issue, you should apply as often as you need to.  In bad infestations, you may need to apply weekly if the roaches are eating it that fast.

QDoes Advion Roach Bait Gel have an expiration date?

A

No, the manufacturer does not label Advion Roach Bait Gel with an expiration date. We recommend that you use the bait within one year from the date of purchase to ensure freshness. Be sure to store the bait in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight.

QWhat if my dog eats a cockroach that has ingested the Advion Roach Bait Gel?

A

There is no need to worry about any type of issues from your dog eating roaches that have been in contact with Advion Roach Bait Gel. There is only enough insecticide in these products to kill a roach, not enough to have any effect on a mammal.

QIs the Advion Roach Bait Gel still working when it dries up?
I noticed that the gel dries up after 2-3 days, and gets hard. Is it still going to work?

AThe gel will work even after it hardens though it does work best when it is soft. The gel will dry out quickly if you place it on a porous surface or if you place it in an area where it is exposed to air currents (heating or cooling vents). You can help avoid these situations by placing the Advion Roach Bait Gel in disposable bait plate stations.  Bait Plate Stations are low-profile, economic and easy-to-use plastic stations that hold gel, liquid and granular baits for ants, roaches and other crawling insects.

QHow do you know when a bait is not working ?
I purchased/applied Advion Roach Bait Gel bait about a week ago, and I'm not seeing any roaches that are attracted to it. I have smokey Brown Nymphs and i tried hand feeding one and it just wanted nothing to do with it. one thing I think I've done wrong is contaminated my baits with Talstar pro. so I've placed the baits where i have not sprayed. Ive just ordered the Maxforce FC Magnum in hopes that they will like that. Nymphs are supposed to eat this/ be attracted to baits when younger right ? Ive also purchased a birth inhibitor which i plan on mixing with my Talstar but I'm afraid of contaminating my baits again. any help would be appreciated. i just cant seem to get rid of these nymphs and i know the big boy stage is on its way.

ARoaches will always ignore baits that have been contaminated with insecticides, perfumes or even cigarette smoke so it is important to keep the bait away from these contaminants. Roach bait gel should be placed in small dabs directly into cracks and crevices in cabinets, drawers, around sinks, counter tops, in food cabinets and any other area where you are seeing activity. Talstar + Gentrol on the other hand should only be sprayed around door frames, window frames and directly into cracks and crevices around baseboards and in cracks and crevices around utilities (cables, pipes, wires) that enter through the wall. Never apply the products in the same exact area. It is also important to make sure the kitchen and surrounding areas are spotless each day while you are trying to eliminate the roaches. Leave no crumbs or dishes in the sink at night, take out trash every night, and make sure all counter tops are wiped down thoroughly. One week is not enough time to determine if a roach bait gel is working. You need to give a bait severeal weeks to see if you notice a difference in a roach population. Heavy infestations can take several months to get rid of no matter what products you use.

QHow do I clean out the small, blue injection pins filled with gel bait?
Hello. I've used the product and it works fine, but I can no longer use the 2 small, blue pins because it's filled with the gel bait. I've used warm water because nothing comes out. How can I remove the gel bait from inside the blue pin? Thank you.

A

You might want to soak longer in hotter water. If a small amount is inside without blocking or causing difficulty dispersing the product it should be fine. Please let us know if you need anything else or if this is not effective.

QHow soon after my apartment was fogged for roaches can I apply Advion Roach Bait Gel?
I just recently had someone come out and fog my apartment. I ordered the gel bait as a back up. I was wondering if I could use the gel bait now, or if i should wait. I would hate for the gel to counteract with the treatment but I also am disgusted with seeing so many roaches. Its been an on going problem and I just want to get rid of them.

A

We would would recommend contacting the company that did the fogging to find out the residual of the fogger they used. Foggers generally are used as a flushing treatment and do not leave a long residual. Advion Roach Bait Gel is one of the best roach baits to use but if you have been dealing with roaches for an extended period of time, we recommend using on our Roach Control Kits. Roaches are a persistent pest and require multiple treatments using a combination of products in order to be completely eradicated. Please see our Roach Control Guide for step by step instructions on how to do a full treatment.†

QI bought the Advion Roach Bait Gel and I put it out, but a month later the cockroaches are back. Is there anything else I can use for roaches?

A

We do recommend that you apply the†Advion Roach Bait Gel every couple of weeks (after cleaning up previous bait placements). Baiting is going to take some time. We also recommend that you apply a perimeter spray to the cracks and crevices and growth regulation as well. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article, How to Get Rid of Roaches for additional treatment tips.

QWill Advion Roach Bait Gel kill a second infestation of baby roaches?
My apartment was heavily infested. I applied Advion and got rid of them for three months, but now I have seen three baby roaches crawling within the past 3 days, and I'm worried. If I bait again, will an infestation be prevented?

A

Advion Roach Bait Gel can certainly help at the beginning of an infestation. If you are seeing a new population, then there are most likely more in the wall void areas that you are not seeing as well.† We would recommend using more than one product so that you are sure that you are getting all the areas that could be affected, such as the products that come in our Roach Control Kits. These provide a bait,†insecticide, and an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator). Generally, you need all three to get a roach problem not only under control, but eliminated as well. Please see our Roach Treatment Guide for more information.

QHow long do I need to keep applying Advion Roach Bait Gel if I no longer see roaches in the area? I don't want to attract any more.

A

We would recommend removing Advion Roach Bait Gel if you no longer have an issue since it does contain food grade materials that are meant to attract roaches. The product only needs to be used if there are roaches present. We would recommend waiting 30 days before removing the product once you have stopped seeing activity.†

QI still see the same amount of roaches after 3 weeks of using Advion Roach Bait Gel. What do I do?

A

You want to apply the Advion Roach Bait Gel every 2 weeks (cleaning up previous bait placements). Give it some time depending on the level of activity and how long they have been present.† Baiting will take more time to transfer through the population. We also suggest applying a perimeter residual spray and an insect growth regulator (IGR) in your treatment process along with non-chemical methods. Please take a few moments to review our article and videos on How to Get Rid of Roaches.

QIs Advion Roach Bait Gel available in liquid form?
The german roaches in my apartment were all over this stuff when I first put it out but it dried up within a day and they wanted nothing to do with it. I saw that it was recommended that I use the bait plate stations so I did, but the bait still dried up after only a day. These roaches seem to really like the liquid bait (Hot Shot Ultra Liquid Roach Bait) that I used to put out but they have since become averse, causing me to look into other options. I'm sure a liquid version of this bait would be what I need to really knock them out, is this sort of thing available?

A

Advion Roach Bait is only available in the gel and arenas (bait-filled stations). If you have been using the same bait for several weeks or months, then we would suggest switching to a different bait such as Maxforce Impact or Invict Gold. Baits will dry more quickly in dry areas, on porous surfaces such as concrete or wood, and in areas near vents or other air drafts. You may also need to inspect the area again for any possible competing moisture sources near sinks, drains, pet bowls, refrigerator drip pans, dishwashers, etc. Please let us know if we can further assist you.
