Product Overview

Fire ants are a big problem throughout the country. Amdro Fire Ant Bait provides a season-long solution. It is highly attractive to fire ants. It can be applied at the base of fire ant mounds or scattered where ants are foraging. The worker ants carry the bait back to the mound, where they will feed it to the other ants including the queen. It kills the queen and prevents production of new ants, so that the entire mound dies. Amdro Fire Ant Bait will also control big-headed ants and harvester ants. It can be used on on lawns, ornamental gardens, golf courses, turf, pasture, rangeland, and other non-cropland areas. Ideal for broadcast application and individual mound treatment.

How To Use Tips

The average homeowner may have difficulty recognizing fire ants. They are extremely aggressive and will swarm to the attack when their mounds or nests are disturbed. They react quickly to vibrations and loud noises like those produced by a lawn mower. They can cause severe injury to pets, livestock and small children. Fire ants sting, rather than bite. A small portion of the population is extremely allergic to fire ant venom. Any of these folks that are stung can develop life-threatening complications. Most of the southern states have widespread fire ant problems as well as parts of California. The bait in this container will stay potent for up to 3 months after container has been opened. It's a good idea to wear gloves when handling this product.

    Bye Bye Red Ants!

    By Gregg on 05/13/2017

Had a problem with a couple ant hills of red ants (Harvester Ants, I believe). Sprinkled about 1-1/2 tablespoons of this around the perimeter of the ant hills. One week later, no more ants! This product works very well and is immediately attractive to the ants.

    best product for the money

    By Jimmy on 10/16/2017

It works and is cost effective, way cheaper than over-n-out. I have wasted a lot of money on products that "just move them:" this stuff works...mix with sand or lime to do whole yard

Amdro fire ant bait, good buy

    By Johnny on 11/19/2018

works great, but when the temps got down in the 60s at night the fire ants stopped feeding on it. I will start feeding them again when it warms up.

    Finally getting good control

    By Wtechman on 08/09/2016

Here in the the desert we get hordes of harvester ants especially during the summer monsoon season. Most of our ant colonies are taking the bait if I scatter it along their foraging trails, with excellent results.

    Worked like a charm!

    By Kimberlee on 05/08/2020

This bait did the job and did it faster than I expected. I baited 2 times and within a few days the ants were gone. That was 4 weeks ago and still no sign of red ants. Highly recommend!
