Product Overview

Aura Decorative Flylight Trap is a stylish trap, providing a discreet way to clear your house or business of bothersome flies. Great for hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes, the trap's circular design allows the UV light that attracts the flies and other flying pests all around the unit, a full 260 degrees, unlike competing flylights. This works perfectly with the glue board that comes with the flylight as well, using 100% of the board for trapping area while keeping it hidden from outside view, particularly from customers. Aura Decorative Flylight Trap is built to last, made out of stainless steel, UV stable plastic construction, and has a polished facade. It is designed well, with a unobtrusive design that blends in with any surroundings, as well as easy tool-free access and fast and efficient servicing.  This light can be hard wired or plugged in using the 6 ft. cord.

How does a flylight work?

Flylights utilize ultraviolet bulbs to attract flying insects into the product, before either zapping them dead on a high voltage killing grid or trapping them on a sticky glueboard. UV bulbs attract flying insects by emitting a wavelength of light attractive to flies. Flying insects are attracted to the bulb which emits UV at a level comparable to that of the sun, which the flying insect has a natural attraction to as a source of heat.

What is shatterproofing?

Shatterproof bulbs provide peace of mind in sensitive areas by retaining glass shards if the bulb is broken. All our ranges can be shatterproofed, ensuring that you can choose your ideal bulb to help you protect even the most sensitive areas, including food preparation and assembly areas. Shatterproof bulbs MUST be installed in areas operating a ‘glass free policy’. The Fluorinated Polymer (FEP) material used for all our sleeving is designed specifically for optical transmission and allows 97% of effective UV light to pass through the coating. As a result, the maximum possible amount of useful UV irradiance passes through the sleeving to effectively attract insects.

With only 3% of the irradiance being absorbed into the material, the structural integrity of the sleeving is maintained for the full 12 month life of the bulb, preventing discolouring and ensuring all glass shards are retained in the event of a breakage. Additionally, all our shatterproof bulbs conform to the IEC61549 ‘Fragment Retention’ standard for areas where this is considered appropriate. Shatterproof bulbs are available by special order.

How often should I change my bulbs and why?

We recommend that UV bulbs are changed every 12 months to ensure maximum efficacy. The levels of UV produced by fluorescent bulbs deteriorates rapidly throughout the life of the bulb. Whilst the bulb will continue to glow blue or green indefinitely, after approximately 8,000 hours the amount of useful UV (Which humans cannot see) drops to a level where it is no longer attractive to flying insects. As a result, UV bulbs must be replaced annually to ensure they remain effective in producing useful levels of UV. This replacement cycle is typically undertaken just before the peak insect season, (March/April within North America) to ensure the flylight is producing the maximum amount of UV throughout the critical insect season.

How often should I change my glue boards?

We recommend that glue boards are changed every 4 weeks, to prevent the glue from drying out over a longer period of time. Particularly dry or dusty environments may require a more frequent change as atmospheric debris may become attached to the board.

    worked for a year

    By James on 05/01/2019

Really nice bug light at first. Worked for about a year and then the bulb went out. I bought four replacement bulbs and with each bulb I plugged in - they'd blow immediately.

    Great Product

    By Anthony on 02/27/2017

I work in a delivery dock, and we have an issue with fruit flies and gnats. I set the first light overnight (about 7 hours) and 13 gnats were on the paper. I am very happy with these and I will be ordering my replacement stickers through this site.

the quality only goes so far

    By Elton on 02/01/2020

it's well built for the exception of this hinge, made of a very thin ring it broke under the duress of a metal bolt, just a bad design for the price you pay for this it SHOULD have a better design for a hinge (holds the top from the light)
