GENERAL INFORMATION

Avid 0.15EC is an emulsifiable concentrate containing 0.15 lb. abamectin/gal. which, when mixed with water, will control leafminers and mites and suppress whiteflies, thrips, and aphids on ornamentals.

Mix with water and apply as a foliar spray to obtain uniform coverage. For mites, apply when mites first appear and repeat as necessary to maintain control. For leafminers, apply as needed and repeat at 7-day intervals or as necessary to maintain control.

For suppression of aphids, thrips, and whiteflies, apply when young, immature stages of these pests are first observed and repeat every 7 days for 2 or 3 weeks. After which time, rotate to other products that have different modes of action than Avid 0.15 EC for at least 2-3 weeks. Refer to the Resistance Management section for additional comments on rotation. Aphids, thrips, and whiteflies are killed by direct contact with the Avid 0.15 EC spray.

Residual control of pests may be enhanced with the addition of a horticultural spray oil at 0.5 to 1.0% of the spray volume on field-grown woody ornamentals, landscape plants, and Christmas trees. Repeat application as necessary, but no sooner than 7 days to maintain control. Some plants are sensitive to oils and so without prior experience the user should spray a small number of plants and observe plants for 2 weeks before spraying the remaining plants. Excessive cold or warm temperatures may increase the chance of plant damage following application with oils.

Avid 0.15 Miticide / Insecticide Features:

  • Rainfast within hours of application, offering outdoor application flexibility
  • Odorless
  • Leaves no unsightly residue on plants
  • Formulated for easly application with standard equipment

I have been fighting spider mites for six months, not able to win - just stay even. Finally I went nuclear (Avid) on the little bastids, and they're all in spider heaven now. This stuff seems expensive - but it is SO concentrated that this $100 bottle will last a looooong time. I use 3 drops in 500cc of water in a spray bottle. Used once.

I believe you can avoid pests with preventive measures, but sometimes they just appear. In my case I introduced some plants from another garden. I had what I believed to be broad mites. I used avid every 3rd day for 4 applications and they were gone.

5 of 5 stars  Bye bye mites
By Craig in Vancouver, Wa on 09/09/2015

On a suggestion from a friend, I was told that my issue with Russett mites would be quelled with one application of the avid miticide. Once I bit the bullet on the cost, (@$15/oz.) I realized that within hours I had stopped 80% of my infestation. A second application @ 2 weeks later yielded near 100% extermination of those microscopic bastards and I've been good since... *A full tyvek suit, respirator and eye protection is essential to do a proper application!!

The ONLY secret we will EVER give away because the creators of this product deserve HELLA KUDOS and we are in LOVE with DoMyOwnPestControl.com We use this in combination with TalstarP. Talk about TERMINATE ON SIGHT! Turn your Garden into a Pest GRAVEYARD with this stuff. Enough said! (P.S. You should follow dosage instructions or you'll kill more than your bugs in the process. DO NOT USE DURING FLOWERING. DO NOT USE ON CLONES.)

Pricey...but the application rate is very low, only 1ml/gal. Used imidicloprid and fish oil with negative results. Avid showed promise in less than 1 week.

QCan I use Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide on my mattress and on the underside of my couch and chair and on my carpets?
I have mites in my home -- I think bird mites. I've tried professionals and other products and am still having this problem. But my research implies that I need something that is a miticide and an insecticide.

A

Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide is only for application on ornamental plants; it should never be used inside a residential area and is not labeled for mites such as bird mites. We encourage you to have a positive identification from a reputable professional pest control company or entomologist before purchasing or applying pesticides in your home. QSince russet mites are systemic, should I do a soil drench with Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide in addition to spraying it?
What is the application rate for an Avid soil drench?

A

Avid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide should be applied only as a foliar spray, per the product label, so we do not recommend using this product as a soil drench. It is always recommended to rotate active ingredients to avoid resistance. If you would like to provide us with more information about your situation, we may be able to recommend an alternative product for you. QIs Avid effective in controlling scale insects on woody ornamentals, such as podocarpus?
If not, do you have other recommendations. The temperature is currently too warm for use of oils without damage to new growth, but I could wait for a cooler week.

AAvid 0.15 EC Miticide Insecticide is the best insecticide for mites and leaf miners. ImidaPro 2SC is labeled for the treatment of scale insects on ornamentals. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application instructions.

QIs there danger of burning if I spray this product during very warm weather?
I've been told my spider mites thrive in hot, dry weather, but I shouldn't spray them when it is hot and dry, because the spray will damage the trees (alberta pines). Seems like the time to kill them is when they are active--I'm confused. Have not seen this product before and am interested. Thanks

AAccording to the label on Avid Miticide, Excessive cold or warm temperatures may increase the chance of plant damage following application with oils. We would recommend contacting your local extension office to help with a proper time of day to apply the product. Every county has an extension office that is run by your University System. They are located in the same county and are familiar with weather, plant and soil conditions that pertain to your location.
