Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator

Tired of unpleasant odors coming from your garbage can, compost pile, bathroom, or pet area? You need BAC-AZAP Odor Eliminator! Not only will BAC-AZAP get rid of unpleasant odors in the home, but it also eliminates the stench of cigarette smoke in apartments, automobiles, and nightclubs, improves the flow of slow drains, removes drain flies, and enhances composting. BAC-AZAP is even strong enough to combat foul odors caused by vomit, urine, feces, grease, proteins, decomposing animal and plant matter, and other organic matter. Simply spray BAC-AZAP on the affected area, and BAC-AZAP continues to work for you until the job is done. BAC-AZAP can be used on ceilings, walls, floors, fabric, carpet, furniture and in drains... virtually everywhere.

How does it work? BAC-AZAP uses a unique blend of active live bacteria and enzymes that consume and do away with decaying organic odor-causing matter. (Newer odors are more easily done away with than “older” odors that have been around awhile, which may require several treatments.) BAC-AZAP is also non-toxic, biodegradable, non-pathogenic, non-caustic and salmonella free.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: BAC-AZAP is furnished full strength and ready to use for the toughest applications. In cases where the product is applied periodically as part of an ongoing maintenance program, the product may be diluted with one (1) or two (2) parts water in order to maximize coverage.

FOAMING: BAC-AZAP may be applied as a foam using an applicator device designed to create foam solutions. Place BAC-AZAP into the applicator at one hundred (100)% concentration, do not dilute. BAC-AZAP is specially formulated to be used in conjunction with ProFoam Platinum foam concentrate and may be applied as a foam into drain lines, to organic debris under heavy kitchen equipment, into wall voids where organic materials or dead rodents may cause odor concerns and onto walls of garbage cans and dumpsters.

FOGGING: Bac-Azap may also be fogged into confined areas, such as crawl spaces or attics using a fogging device. Dilute product two (2) parts water to one (1) part BAC-AZAP (2:1) and apply as a fog at a rate of one (1) gallon of mixed solution per one thousand (1000) cubic feet of confined space. NOTE: Do not fog BAC-AZAP into areas where people or pets are present. Wait until fog has dissipated before re-entry.

DRAIN FLY HABITATS: For best results, apply product at end of day for overnight action on habitats and breeding sites. If drains are not used regularly, pour two (2) to three (3) gallons of warm water into drain opening to moisten drain surfaces before treatment.

Apply four (4) to six (6) ounces to each drain where drain fly activity is present. Continue daily for five (5) to ten (10) days.

Maintenance for drain flies: Apply four (4) to six (6) ounces one (1) to two (2) times per week.

PHORID & FRUIT FLY HABITATS: For best results, apply product at end of day for overnight action on habitats and breeding sites. Use as a wash on all floors where food or other contamination may be used as food sources and breeding sites. In sewage overflow or pipe breakage situations, soak affected areas after removal of contaminants.

WALL VOIDS: BAC-AZAP can be applied into wall voids or other inaccessible areas by spray injection or in conjunction with a foam applicator.

CRAWL SPACES & BASEMENTS: Spray onto surfaces or dirt in crawl spaces, that may produce or retain odors from mold, mildew, sewage, wildlife and pets. Apply at the rate of one (1) quart of solution per one hundred (100) square feet.  Bac-A-Zap can also be fogged in crawl spaces and basements using a fogging machine (see FOGGING above).

WALLS, FLOORS & CARPETS: Begin by thoroughly cleaning areas with appropriate materials and methods. Spray BAC-AZAP on all surfaces where odors might originate including wall surfaces, floors and carpets. Apply at the rate of one (1) quart per one hundred (100) square feet of surface area (approximately three (3) fluid ounces per square yd.). NOTE: Although BAC-AZAP is designed to be non-staining, always test surface for colorfastness in an inconspicuous area before treating entire surface.

COMPOSTING: Mix six (6) to eight (8) ounces BAC-AZAP to one (1) gallon water. Pour evenly over compost pile two (2) times per week. The solution can treat up to 50 cubic feet of compost. For best results, turn and mix compost pile while adding the BAC-AZAP solution. To speed up the composting process, make 1 gallon solution of water-soluble fertilizer and add 8 ounces BAC-AZAP. Pour over compost pile as described above.

REFUSE CONTAINERS, GARBAGE CANS & DUMPSTERS: Once unit is empty, rinse with water and liberally spray surfaces with BAC-AZAP. If unit cannot be rinsed with water each time it is emptied, attempt to rinse with water daily or on a regular basis to remove excess soils. Apply BAC-AZAP to the unit as often as possible, to the point of surface wetness to control odors and remove pest habitats.

BATHROOMS & FLOOR DRAINS: After cleaning, spray walls and fixtures with a one to one (1:1) or two to one (2:1) dilution of BAC-AZAP to prevent lingering odors. Pour three (3) to four (4) fluid ounces of undiluted BAC-AZAP directly into floor drains and urinals at the end of the day and allow to work overnight.

Storm and Water Damage Steps

STEP 1: Remove debris and clean area.

STEP 2: Apply according to label application instructions directly to source of odor and its surrounding areas. Wet areas thoroughly with product.

STEP 3: Allow to work. No rinsing required.

STEP 4: For large areas, dilute 1:1 with water.

5 of 5 stars  Mouse odor
By Mike in Scappoose, Oregon on 06/02/2010
    Verified Purchase

I recently removed my bathtub and found a huge mouse nest . The wood subfloor and studs really stunk. I tried several products but non seemed to work. This product worked very well. It took 3 treatments (from only one bottle) with about 2-3 days drying time for each. There is still a very very faint odor in the room when we leave the door shut but my wife and I do not think it is mouse smell anymore. She thinks it is kind of a wood odor. I also found the order and delivery process excellent. Thanks for a great product and great service. Mike

We had these little fruit flies coming from our drain; couldn't imagine, never had this problem before, no matter what we did; couldn't get rid of them. One shot of the Bac-A-Zap into the drain and no more flies. Would recommend this product to anyone. Killed all bacteria and eliminated the odor from the garbage disposal. Luv it!

By Aew in SC on 01/05/2014

I own and operate a wildlife removal service and use this product to remove harmful bacteria and odor from wildlife feces, urine, body oils and birthing. This product eliminates the the odor and harmful bacteria in my clients home's attics and crawlspaces. Also eliminates welcoming signals to other wildlife that would otherwise be emitting through the home's venting.

5 of 5 stars  Works great for skunk odor
By Anne in Montague, MI on 10/07/2011

Our dog got a mini spray from a skunk that was just outside our door one night, but the smell was still overpowering in the house. I tried your product as a sample from an animal control agent. Boy did that do that trick. It neutralized the odor - and nothing works on a skunk smell! I bought some of this recently but am still learning what else to use it for. A great product!

5 of 5 stars  Great Product (Dead animal smell)
By Christine in Texas on 04/27/2017
    Verified Purchase

We have a country trailer we use once a month and recently discovered a large rat had died and rotted in the trailer while we were gone for several weeks. You can imagine the horrible smell in the air and in the location of his death. We treated the walls and floors with this product twice (a week apart) and it worked great! We also used the air filter bags (sold on this website) to help freshen the air. Both products were easy to use and successfully removed the horrible odor. The only suggestion is if you are working in a tight space and spray a large amount, you might want to leave the area for awhile and get some fresh air. I'm very sensitive to smells and the spray can be a little overwhelming after initial treatment.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Rotting meat smell gone!
By Steve in Michigan on 12/30/2016

Our large freezer de-thawed and left us with a rotting mess, more than 2 weeks old. The smell would not come out. Bak-A-Zap did a fantastic job of removing the smell. Clean thoroughly with soap, then vinegar, then Bak-A-Zap. Left open for a day, then closed with Baking soda for a day. Repeat with vinegar and Baking Soda closed up for a day. Worked fantastic. Note: Bak-A-Zap does have a strong deodorizer odor, but is not noticeable after the freezer was restarted.

3 of 5 stars  Not Totally Satisfied
By Peter in Andover, MA on 11/17/2016

Squirt bottle arrived with electrical tape used to affix the pump top to the rest of the bottle. After several squirts, the top just came apart - plastic tabs needed to hold the top to the bottle were mostly gone. After 40 minutes in my work shop, I was able to get the pump top mounted so it would hold. Using product to rid car heater of dead animal smell - this is a slow going process with many treatments, but I believe it is helping.

We are sorry that you were having trouble with the Bac-a-Zap bottle. Bottles are often taped around the tops of products to help prevent leaking in transit. Please let us know if you need a replacement top to the bottle! We appreciate your comments and your business!

QDoes Bac-A-Zap come in a fogger?
We moved into a home and discovered a big mouse/rat infestation in the attic and in the basement ceiling tiles. The tiles smell of urine and some of the ceiling is drywall. I'm looking for a product to fog those areas we can not reach to clean. Also can I use your product on the ceiling tiles?

A

Bac-A-Zap may be fogged into confined spaces, such as crawl spaces or attics using a fogging device. Dilute product two (2) parts water to one (1) part Bac-A-ZAP (2:1) and apply as a fog at a rate of one (1) gallon of mixed solution per 1000 cubic feet of confined space. NOTE: Do not fog Bac-AZAP into areas where people or pets are present. Wait until fog has dissipated before re-entry.†Bac-AZAP can be used on walls, floors, carpets, wall voids, crawl spaces, basements, floor drains, refuse containers, dumpsters, garbage cans, bathrooms, and compost piles.

QCan I spray Bac A Zap directly on my dogs or their sleeping area?
My dogs have the common dog smell even a few days after bathing them. I want to minimize the dog smell in my house.

A

You cannot use Bac a Zap on your pets for any reason. However Bac A Zap can be used on pet resting areas and other areas of the home that tend to hold any pet odors. Please keep in mind, without getting rid of your dogs you will not be able to eliminate the normal smell that comes with having a pet.

Per the Product Label

WALLS, FLOORS & CARPETS: Begin by thoroughly cleaning areas with appropriate materials and methods. Spray BAC-AZAP on all surfaces where odors might originate including wall surfaces, floors and carpets. Apply at the rate of one (1) quart per one hundred (100) square feet of surface area (approximately three (3) fluid ounces per square yard). NOTE: Although BAC-AZAP is designed to be non-staining, always test surface for colorfastness in an inconspicuous area before treating entire surface.

QIs Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator safe to put on houseplants to kill fungus gnats?

AFungus gnats will commonly breed in the soil of house plants that may have too much moisture.  Bac-A-Zap is labled for drain flys, phorid flys and fruit flys but it does not actually kill them, instead it has an enzyme that helps break down the organic matter that these flys breed in. This type of treatment will not work on fungus gnats. You should read our "Getting Rid of Gnats" article that explains how to treat fungus gnats. We recommend using Talstar P which can be sprayed directly on the soil to help control fungus gnats and we also recommend letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

QWill this product also take dog urine stains out of carpet along with the odor?
I had a very lazy tenant. I evicted her for reasons other than this, but now have a problem with what was a wonderful carpet!!! She was only there for 5 months and the entire apartment reflects how lazy she was! Oh my! My main concern is the carpet though. I would like to save it. I have used Bac-a-Zap for cat urine odors, but for stains, no.

AAccording to the manufacturer, Bac-A-Zap will not remove the actual urine stain, it will just help eliminate the smell of the urine.

QCan Bac A Zap be used to remove the smell of a dead human?
A person passed away in his apartment at our facility, and we need a product to get that smell out of the space.

A

Per the manufacturer, Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator is not specifically labeled for use on human bodies. However, it can be used to remove the smell of a decomposing carcass. It would be recommended to use a disinfectant/deodorizer such as Nisus DSV prior to using Bac-A-Zap Odor Eliminator because it will improve the effectiveness of the product.

I bought my house a half year ago and now the kitchen cabinets have a musty odor in them that cant be removed by all of the other practices i've seen online. Can this be used within the cabinets?

AThe fact that there is a musty smell tells us that there might be a moisture issue. However, you can spray Bac a Zap in the cabinets after taking everything out. Let the product dry and then place the kitchen products back in.
