How to Use Bait Plate Stations (Video)

BAIT IS NOT INCLUDED (See Ant Bait , Roach Bait).

Bait Stations are low-profile, economic and easy-to-use plastic stations that hold gel, liquid and granular baits for ants, roaches and other crawling insects. The stations keep sticky gels and granular baits in a contained space that is off of counter tops and other surfaces, but allows access to the bait for ants and other insects. By using bait plate stations you can offer 2 different baits at one time in the same locations giving finicky insects an option to choose the bait they prefer. Bait plate stations also work to keep bait fresh for a longer period of time thereby saving you money and time because you do not have to change the bait as often.

Bait Plate Stations:

  • Transparent plastic-allows you to see if there is activity in the station or if the bait needs to be replenished
  • Two sided bottom tray allows the use of two different types of bait at one time in one place-liquid or gel on one side, granule on the other.
  • Removable tab allows for entrance of bigger insects like large roaches
  • Can be placed flat or tacked on walls -put the bait where you need it
  • Keeps bait fresh for longer periods of time
  • Reusable-clean and reuse

The BaitPlate Station can be used for liquid, gel or granular baits for all crawling insects.

The halves of the station will need to be snapped together. Snap each of the 4 corners securely. If using liquid bait, be sure that the male channel on the top and female channel on the bottom are completely mated together with no air gaps, paying particular attention to the corners, otherwise it may leak.

For baiting ants and German roaches, the little tab on the top should be snapped down into the hole.

For baiting American roaches or other larger insects, open the tab or remove it altogether by tearing it off at the perforation.

To secure the station, use the hole provided or use the sticky dot. Press the dot (with the release paper still on) onto the bottom of the station on the flat part where the hole is and then peel off the release paper and stick down the station.

The BaitPlate can be placed flat or vertically on a wall. If using liquid bait on a wall, a tack may provide more security than just the sticky dot.

5 of 5 stars  Add these to your order!

I wasn't going to get these bait stations, "I don't need them", I thought. I threw them in the order at the last minute. Boy was I glad!!! A neat little accessory that kept the bait and gel all together. Made it easy to set-up and clean up. Well worth it!! Get the bait plate stations and make your life easy and safe.

4 of 5 stars  Safe to Use
By Pat in Eugene, Oregon on 07/02/2010

These are inexpensive and easy to use. I partially filled them and put them by the cat dish. Within two days the ants were gone. And there was no worry of the cat stepping on it or poison getting in her food. Note: I partially fill them in case someone steps on it so it doesn't squeeze out the end.

The bait plate stations are very cheap quality at a high cost. I was desperate and the manufacturer knows that. A very inferior product!

But did the job. took me a few minutes to figure out how to keep the gel on one side, the granules on the other, and keep the top secure.

  • 2 of 5 stars  Helpful but hard to work with
By Rae in Denver, CO on 09/23/2017

These bait stations worked very well with the gel bait, but not with the protein bait. The plastic in the bait stations created static electricity, making the protein bait "jump" onto the lid and into the lid tracks making it difficult to close the traps. I would recommend using another type of bait station with the protein bait. Also, if these stations are used outdoors, squirrels are quite adept at opening these stations and eating the bait. I had to use an empty can with a heavy rock on it to dissuade the squirrels.

  • 3 of 5 stars  They work, but are hard to load
By Sanford in Bellingham, WA on 09/01/2017

They work. They're cheap. The mounting glue-spots hold well. But they're hard to load because of static electric repulsion of dry bait (bait tends to fly off). They also come with no instructions on what to do with the lids - it is not at all clear what to do with their cut-outs - nor any information about their preferred mounting position, loading level, or positioning advice.

  • 4 of 5 stars  Easy to use
By Rick in Bronx, NY on 08/15/2017

These bait stations have two halves that snap together. I place bait inside first then snap them together. The openings were adjustable. They only thing I didnt like were these glue dots that didnt hold the stations on the wall. I used double sided tape instead.

    3 of 5 stars  Handy
By Tim in Norwalk, CT on 07/05/2017

These bait stations are handy but a bit over priced. Easy to use and you can use granular or gels or both at the same time. Sweet or protein baits or both at the same time since there are 2 sections. They are reusable which helps. I have had chipmunks and mice eat through the bait stations ruining them but not that often.

5 of 5 stars  Great little bait station
By Dennis in Naples, Florida on 06/29/2017

I like using this versatile station. It can be very tight for small insects like ant or can be opened up for larger insects such as American Cockroaches. This helps prevent spilling.

By Nadeen in Caddo Mills, tx on 06/28/2017

These are great for placing the Advecta roach bait. Much better than placing little squirts all over and inside your cabinets. You just have to keep them baited. ALL the roaches aren't gone yet (they came back) but I ran out of these bait stations so I ordered more. This time I have enough to get rid of them for good.

4 of 5 stars  Works well enough
By Whitney in Austin, TX on 06/26/2017

I partially filled these with Advion Gel before leaving for vacation. The roaches definitely entered them and left their little feces behind, but the gel still dried up (10 days) in most of the containers. These definitely make it easier to clean up the gel and allow the gel to last a bit longer. However, I wish they had openings on at least one more side. One also had a spider carcass in it which was an added bonus catch.

By Linda in Elgin, IL on 06/14/2017

Convenient to use but very flimsy. There is some critter by my house that likes the ant gel and figured out how to pull off small section you can remove from the top. Had to put tape and rubber bands all around the baits to keep the critter from eating the bait. Wish these came without that option so only the ants can eat the bait.

QCan I melt down this roach gel , add Vaseline to keep it moist and add roach dust and maybe some sugar?
The roach gel gets rock hard and ineffective quick. It takes up space because I need to put down another application on top of the old gel bait.

AHeating up the roach gel to the melting point could render it ineffective as the active ingredient is liable to breakdown. Adding roach dust or vaseline will most likely contaminate the bait and make it unattractive to the roaches. You can place the roach bait gel into reusable bait plate stations to stop the gel from drying out and to avoid having to place the product directly on surfaces where it would be hard to remove. Many people choose to place the gel bait on small pieces of plastic wrap or foil to avoid placing it directly on surfaces where the gel may be hard to remove.

QWhat's the space needed in between bait stations for outdoor use? Should I place them every 10-20 feet apart?

A

There is not a specific amount of feet in between stations for indoor or outdoor baiting. Below are some helpful baiting tips.

How to Apply Bait Indoors: Apply small placements in cracks and crevices, especially where ants are seen foraging or entering the structure. Inspect gel placement and reapply as needed. For optimum success, follow the directions printed on the individual product label.

  • Additional Indoor Baiting Tips:
    • Remove competitive food sources. Practicing good sanitation is the best way to remove food particles or spills that may serve to deter ants from accepting chemical baits.
    • Always use fresh bait. As a rule, only place baits with packaging that was opened within the last 6 months.
    • Do not use residual sprays or dusts anywhere near bait placements. Doing so may either kill ants before they can take the bait or repel them from seeking out chemical bait.
    • It is better to err on the side of too many bait placements than too few. If possible, place baits at all potential entry points.
    • Do not move or tamper with the bait once the ants have begun feeding.

QDo you put the Advance 375A Granules or the Maxforce FC Ant Gel in the bait plate stations?
We have put gel in one side and granules in the other. We have lots of dead ones but then they reappear in another area. We have an INVASION!!!!

A

We recommend placing either the Advance 375A Granules or the Maxforce FC Ant Bait Gel in the bait plate stations. You can also put both (one on each side of the tray) baits in the stations at the same time.

QDo Bait Plate Stations work with carpenter ants?
Another part of your site says they don't like to take bait from some types of stations.

AYes, carpenter ants will go into the bait stations to take bait out. These cartidges do come empty so you will need to put bait inside of them. We would recommend using the Complete Ant Kit. It comes with a sugar and a protein bait for the ants to take back to the colony. It also comes with 12 bait stations. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

QAssembling the syringe. How do you attach the plunger? I got the ant kit and the instructions are confusing.

AYou would simply push the smaller end of the plunger into the open end of the syringe. Be sure to remove the cap from the tip of the syringe and push slowly to expel the bait from the syringe.

QCan i use the bait plate stations outside for Slugs/Snails?
Do you recommend using these bait stations filled with Niban to control Slugs/Snails? I'm considering using Niban as a slug/snail bait around my Hostas.

AThe Bait Plate Station when used with the lid on top are only large enough to accomodate an insect the size of an ant. The Niban Granular Bait is designed to be spread across the ground for the insects to find as they are foraging for food. It is a moisture resistant bait so it will hold up to the outdoor elements (up to 4 inches of rain) longer than an average bait granule. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
