    Q
How many ounces of Basagran T/O per gallon of water for spot spray in an established lawn?
    A

This mixing rate of Basagran T/O depends on big of an area you are wanting to spot treat. Please refer to the Mixing Table on page 4 of the Basagran T/O label. The label also warns that applying this product as a spot treatment can result in excessive dosage and possible turf injury.

Area to Be Sprayed / Amount of Basagran T/O / Amount of Water

    200 sq ft / 1 teaspoon Basagran T/O / 0.2-0.4 gallons of water

    400 sq ft / 2 teaspoons Basagran T/O / 0.4-0.6 gallons of water

    1,000 sq ft / 5 teaspoons Basagran T/O / 1-2 gallons of water

    1 acre / 2 pints of Basagran T/O / 40-80 gallons of water

Sprayer Calibration Suggestions / Hand Sprayers:
    1. Stake off a 400 square foot area of turf for practice. This
    is an area 20’ (7 steps) x 20’.
    2. Add a measured quantity (1.5 gallons for example) of water to the sprayer and uniformly spray the 400 square foot area. Measure water remaining to determine the
amount applied per 400 square  foot area. (Note: A minimum of 3 pints per 400 square feet is recommended).
    3. Prepare the spray solution according to Table 1. Application Rates for Turf.
Example:Assume that in Step 2 the 400 square foot area was uniformly covered with 0.5 gallon of water. Referring to the table, add 2 teaspoons of Basagran T/O per 0.5 gallon of water for each 400 square foot of turf to be sprayed. (Note: Using this mix to spot spray individual weeds may result in an excessive dosage and possible turf injury.)

    Q
What oil and at what concentration to use with Basagran T/O Herbicide
What oil and at what concentration to use with Basagran T/O Herbicide?
    A
When an herbicide calls for oil, it is referring to a surfactant.  Surfactant helps the herbicide stick to the waxy coating of the weeds and lawn you are applying it to.  It improves the effectiveness of herbicides greatly.

  • Asked by Dwight from Huntsville, Al

    Q
Can Basagran T/O Herbicide be used in a vegetable garden? Is there a waiting period before you can plant?
The main product used for weeds in a vegetable garden is a Roundup type product, like our RoundUp QuickPro product. Roundup Professional products do not leave a residual that could possibly be soaked up by the roots of your garden. Of course you do not want to get the RoundUp product on any plants you want to keep. You should only direct it at the weeds you want to get rid of. You can plant in the area treated 2 weeks after application.

  • Asked by Dave from Spring Hill, Fl

    Q
Why was the size of Basagran restricted? Buying a gal is overkill!
I used to buy a pint about once every 2 years, now I have to buy a gallon? That makes no sense as it may cause consumers to overuse this product instead of under-use. If EPA was smart they'd allow only 1/2 pint sales. This is the ONLY product that kills my yearly nutsedge!
    A

We do apologize but we have no control over when manufacturers discontinue products like the Southern Ag Basagran.  We would recommend using Sedgehammer for nutsedge which works very well and is in small amounts.

    Q
Can you mix Basagran T/O Herbicide with Triplet to control sedge and broadleaf combined?
    A

BASF does not recommend using Basagran T/O tank mixes other than those listed on BASF labels, supplemental labeling, or technical bulletins.  Triplet SF Selective Herbicide also contains dicamba so would not fall under an approved tank mix.  It would be best to make separate applications.
