By Steven in Bowling Green,Ky on 04/24/2013

The product seems to work but too early to tell for the whole season. Called Bayer and asked about about setting for a hose attached sprayer 1.5- 1.6 oz.setting. Use disposal gloves, long shelves and apply on a non wind day. Rain will work the chemical in the ground.Very simple to apply using this method.

  • 1 of 5 stars  Scott;s Season Long Weed Control does not prevent poa anua a
By Gordon in LA PALMA on 02/27/2016

I ordered this product in hope of preventing poa anua from emerging. I Used a liquid dispenser and dit on aor about Jan 5, 2016. It had not affect on preventing the poa anua from popping up. It looks like this weed is growing as it's always done through out the last 40 years. On the internet I was found poa anua listed on your weed list. But it isn't listed on the brochure that came on the product.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
It is very important to go by the label. This particular product is labeled for broadleaf weeds and will not work for grassy weeds like poa annua. We do specifically say on the product page that the product is labeled for broadleaf weeds only. Please let us know if you need help selecting a product better suited for your needs.

QI have ornamental beds with flowers, shrubs, and trees what is the best pre- and post-emergent herbicide?
There are several mulched beds with different plantings. I have vincas, english ivy, hostas, tulips, daffodils, cone flowers, hydrangea, red maple trees evergreen bushes, juniper, yew, locust trees, redbuds, lily-of-the-valley, boxwoods, spruce trees, birch trees, and phlox. My biggest problem is honeysuckle, dandelions, and grass in the beds.

AWe do carry a great pre-emergent called Snapshot 2.5 TG and it's to treat weeds and annual grasses on ornamental beds. There really is nothing for post-emergence control though unless you spot treat with something like Roundup QuickPro for anything that has already emerged.

QHow long should it take to apply one bottle for 5000 sq ft? I sprayed for 1 hour and used about 1/3 of the bot

AHow much time it takes is entirely dependent on what kind of applicator you are using to apply the product, and how quickly you are walking. It could take 5 minutes or 2 hours so we cant tell you an exact time. As long as you use the correct amount of product over the correct amount of area, then the time it takes you makes no difference.

QIs Bayer Advanced Season Long Weed Control for Lawns Concentrate harmful to young trees?
I read the list of active ingredients and saw 2-4-D listed. Straight 2-4-D is very harmful to young trees but the Bayer Season Long Concentrate does not mention anything about trees; whether it is harmful or not or any recommendation for application with trees in mind.

A

Bayer Advanced Season Long Weed Control For Lawns Concentrate is meant to be used on lawns only to control broadleaf weeds.  You should apply in a way to avoid spray drift from contacting desirable plants.  If you just apply around an area where the young trees are but do not make contact with the leaves, it should not harm them.

QIs there any way to neutralize an area treated with Bayer Advanced Season Long Weed Control For Lawns Concentrate to reseed sooner than 60 days?

A

The only way to plant sooner in an area that was treated with Bayer Advanced Season Long Weed Control For Lawns Concentrate would be to remove the soil it was applied to and apply new soil to the area.  Heavy raking will also disturb the weed preventative barrier and reduce the effectiveness of this product per the label.
