The Bed Bug Kit #3 provides you with the professional products necessary to do a complete bed bug treatment in your home or apartment. Plus, this kit includes four cans of Bedlam to treat more rooms. Unlike other kits you may find, the Do My Own Pest Control kits contain the most effective products available based on the most current research. This kit contains 1 x 8 oz. bottle of FenvaStar EcoCap, 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Cimexa Dust for Bed Bugs, 1 hand dusting tool, 4 x 17 oz. cans of Bedlam Bed Bug Spray and 1 pint of Steri-Fab bed bug spray, plus a DoMyOwnPestControl.com exclusive step-by-step guide.
This kit does not come with a hand pump sprayer, but one is required to apply the FenvaStar EcoCap Insecticide.
Why do I need to use so many different products?
It is important to treat the many different areas where bed bugs hide. Each product included in the kit has a specific function to help eliminate a bedbug infestation. We do not recommend relying on one product or treatment method since bugs may avoid areas treated with certain products, or they may become resistant to certain chemicals. It is also crucial to thoroughly Inspect the treatment area for possible bed bug harborages, and to follow all the Treatment steps, including follow-up treatments.

Before applying any chemicals, it is crucial to prepare the area for treatment by removing clutter, vacuuming, steaming (optional), and encasing mattresses and box springs. Taking time for these preparation steps will make your treatments much more successful. Using the products in your Bed Bug Kit, treat all cracks, crevices, voids, tufts, seams, and folds where bed bugs may be found. Always keep pets, children, and other people out of the treatment area until the products have dried - usually about an hour.
STEP 1 - LIQUID CONCENTRATE SPRAY - FenvaStar EcoCap Insecticide
*Wear gloves when mixing and handling pesticides, such as Nitrile Chemical Resistant Gloves.
*Fill the tank 1/3 - 1/2 with clean, temperate water. Shake FenvaStar EcoCap before opening, then add the appropriate amount of FenvaStar EcoCap Insecticide Concentrate per gallon of water to sprayer tank. Use 2 oz. of concentrate for your initial treatment, and 1 oz. of concentrate for follow-up treatments.
*Close and agitate tank to begin mixing.
*Finish filling sprayer tank and agitate once more before spraying insecticide mixture.
*Apply FenvaStar EcoCap mixture to the following areas, contacting as many bugs and eggs directly in these areas as possible:
- Around bed and furniture legs - Inspect wheels, casters, posts, and legs of all furniture.
- Behind wall fixtures
- Under floor lamps
- Cracks and crevices along baseboards and floor moldings
- Beneath floor coverings and along the edges of wall-to-wall carpeting
- Cracks and joints in bed frames, headboards, dressers, shelves, and other furniture
- Picture frames and wall coverings - Remove from the wall and treat cracks and crevices on and behind these items.
- Around door frames, window frames, and thresholds
- Upholstered furniture - Apply only to the infested tufts, seams, folds, and edges, but do not apply to flat surfaces where prolonged human contact will occur.
*Do not remake beds or replace items on shelves or in drawers until spray has dried.
*Do not apply FenvaStar EcoCap to mattresses or box springs.
*Try to mix only enough spray to use for the day. When finished spraying, empty sprayer completely outdoors, rinse with clean water, then store open and empty.
STEP 2 - AEROSOL SPRAY - Bedlam Insecticide
*Allow the FenvaStar EcoCap application to dry before applying Bedlam Aerosol.
*Bedlam is a ready-to-use aerosol ideal for treating many areas, especially those where it may be difficult to treat with a pump sprayer.
*Using the straw applicator will help to treat the tight areas where bedbugs like to hide the most. If you have trouble inserting the straw, try using a pair of pliers to force the tube into the spray nozzle.
*Shake the can well before using. Bedlam is a water-based insecticide, but it will settle between uses.
*Apply to the very fine cracks and crevices on and in furniture around the entire room, such as:
- Upholstered furniture - Treat along seams and folds, under cushions, around legs, and on the undersides.
- Baseboards - Treat any cracks in the baseboard and then treat underneath the baseboard to prevent bed bugs from crawling underneath and accessing adjacent rooms in the house.
- Treat the whole bed - Mattress, box spring and bed frame – Treat along the corners, folds and seams of the mattress. Treat the undersides, corners, seams and under stapled dust cover and even the internal areas of box springs. Also spray the cracks, crevices, voids and screw holes of the bed frame.
- Pictures and wall hangings – remove from the wall and treat cracks and crevices of picture frames and behind pictures and wall hangings.
*It is not necessary to broadcast Bedlam Aerosol in areas where you have just applied the FenvaStar EcoCap. It is better to use the crack and crevice straw in areas near where you have applied the FenvaStar so that you may better treat the tiny areas where bed bugs hide.
*Bedlam Aerosol will kill both the bed bugs that are contacted with the direct spray and those that come across treated areas for up to two weeks.
STEP 3 - DUST - Bellow Hand Duster and CimeXa Insecticide Dust
*Once your spray application has dried, you can apply the insecticide dust.
*Using insecticide dust can be very messy, so be sure to wear gloves and consider having a moist paper towel handy to clean up excess dust.
*To fill the Bellow Hand Duster, remove the black rubber stopper on top of the duster. Gently unscrew the white top of the CimeXa dust, then slowly tap the dust into the duster. Fill the duster up to halfway (or less), so there is plenty of room for the dust to move inside the duster.
*You may want to add a few small objects such as coins, pebbles, or marbles to prevent clumping inside the duster.
*Replace the black stopper so that it fits snugly into the opening. Remove the black rubber cap from the end of the extension wand. To apply dust, hold the duster upside down, so that the extension wand is on top, then gently squeeze the bellows between the thumb and fingers.
*Apply CimeXa Dust to voids and other hidden areas where it will not be disturbed, such as:
- Behind electrical faceplates - Remove switch and electrical plates to gain access to wall voids.
- Along baseboards - Treat any cracks in, above, or below baseboards where the tip of the duster will fit. Also treat under the edges of carpeting where you are able.
- Headboards - Remove from the wall or dismantle to allow thorough treatment.
- Drawers and furniture - Remove drawers and treat along tracks and support, as well as the corners and edges of the drawers. Also treat in any hollow areas such as bed frame tubing.
- Box Springs and upholstered furniture - Check for tears in fabric backing or other hollow areas where the tip of the duster may fit, and treat these areas.
- Behind wall fixtures - Remove fixtures from walls and treat behind each one.
*Be careful to avoid over-dusting. CimeXa Dust is very fine, and it only takes an extremely small amount to kill a bed bug.
*If dust escapes into open areas, simply wipe up the excess dust with a moist paper towel.
*Do not apply dust as a broadcast or in open areas where it will be moved around as it can become an irritant.
STEP 4 - CONTACT KILL - Sterifab
*Sterifab does not require dilution, but you should shake the container well before spraying.
*Sterifab will kill bed bugs and other insects on contact only, so it is only active when it is wet.
*Because of this short action, you can apply Sterifab almost anywhere bed bugs are found.
*Use Sterifab in areas where you see live bed bugs, especially where you cannot use residual products, such as:
- On the resting areas of sofas, chairs, mattresses, or other upholstered furniture
- Open areas on carpets or floors where live bugs are seen
- Walls, baseboards, or corners
*Sterifab will stay active as an insecticide, virucide, fungicide, bactericide, mildewcide, germicide, etc. as long as it is wet. Sterifab leaves no residual after it has dried.
*Do not apply to clothing items or directly to people or animals.
*Use as needed to spot treat live insects.
STEP 5 - TREAT CLOTHING AND LINENS
*Although this step does not NOT involve any chemicals in your kit, it is a crucial part of your treatment.
*Clothing, linens, or other fabric items in the infested rooms should be removed in bags, then washed and dried or dry cleaned.
*Do not return items to the infested areas until there has been no evidence of bed bugs for 30 days.
*Failure to make sure all items being returned to the room are bedbug free may cause a reinfestation.
*Objects that cannot be washed can be put into a bag or bin with a Nuvan Pro Strip to eliminate bedbugs. The items must stay sealed for 4 weeks in the bag or bin. If this treatment will not work for you because of the time it takes to eliminate the bed bugs you also have the option of using bed bug heater like the ZappBug Heater. Place your items inside the unit where they will be heated up to 155 degrees Fahrenheit. Within a few hours, all bed bugs will be killed.
STEP 6 - REPEAT! REPEAT! REPEAT!
*Repeat Steps 1 and 2 (FenvaStar EcoCap and Bedlam) every 7-10 days days until no one is getting bitten and there is no further evidence such as live bugs, cast skins or fresh blood spots found. This is absolutely crucial! Depending on the severity of the infestation it can take a minimum of 7-8 weeks, including repeat treatments. Failure to be thorough can prolong the bed bug control process and can make it harder to eliminate them.
*Use Sterifab as frequently as needed to kill live bugs on contact.

Easy to use
By Susan on 07/27/2006
The Bed Bug Kit was easy to use. The instructions on your site and on the labels are very clear. I did my homework about bedbug infestation and there is a good chance that these products will be effective, especially given the fact that I know exactly how to go about the process. I'm being very thorough and methodical. One good sign is that I haven't been bitten since the first phase of treatment .

I can finally sleep
By Mark in Daytona Beach, FL on 10/03/2010
The Cyonara and IGR worked wonders for the house. I was very meticulous not to leave anything to chance, spray it all. Every crack, crevice, screw hole, fabric edge and fold. I could have used more Steri-Fab though. One bottle was not efficient for a 3 bedroom house. Order an extra! Clean the area, vacuum all surfaces paying special attention to the edges with a shop vac. Wash all bedding in HOT water and do an extra drying cycle. Then just keep up with the spraying and dusting with the bellow. The pesticides are only half of the treatment the other half lies on you cleaning the area to a fresh start and keeping up with it. For an extra tip, when done use Vaseline around the bed legs to prevent them from crossing over. Be Meticulous!

Did the job
By Ex-bug in Po-dunk, IL on 02/04/2011
After finding out that the neighbor kids had bed bugs I was mortified! They had been in and out of my house all summer. Still I was surprised when I woke up with bites. After ripping apart the entire house we found 4 live bugs. Never saw eggs. Found this website, decided to chance a couple hundred before the $800 the bug guy wanted. This kit in combination with purchasing covers for all the mattresses and box springs did the trick. I'm not sure if one would have worked without the other but...it's been 6 months now and I'm almost sure we're in the clear. We used ALL the products and repeated at 4 and 8 weeks later.

Bed Bug Kit #3
By Keith in Woonsocket RI on 08/30/2010
This kit was pretty good and complete. We followed the instructions (as well as researched treatments on the web) and did 2 thorough whole-house treatments 2 weeks apart. I believe it worked. We had quite a bit leftover so I've done spot treatments in certain areas where they had been previous just to be safe. We had a pro come twice and it seemed to work until the eggs hatched. We were much more thorough and in conjunction with this kit it helped.

Bye bed bugs
By Dan in Stockton on 06/14/2017
Bed Bug Kit #3 is a good product, I tried many products but if you use this product properly, well I will just say the 2 exterminators who came out could not believe how good it worked. A good exterminator is the best but expensive way to go, but Bed Bug Kit #3 leaves a residue for up to 2 weeks, using it right is your best chance on doing it yourself

I don't know how we got bedbugs, but they got bad quick. We tried stuff from local stores but nothing worked. I ordered bed bug kit #3, and within days after receiving it things started getting better. Now we sleep at night instead scratching all night. Everything we order from here is better than expected.

My son found one dead bug but they continued to get bites. We isolated the room, made sure all clothes were sealed in double plastic bags and put in the dryer. We did 3 treatments, 6 weeks apart. It was a major chore but it was effective. Had to cover all mattresses also. And did the hallway into the room to prevent migration. We think they got in from school, or public transportation, or both. The kit was enough for all 3 treatments, except for the mattress spray only got 2 treatments from it. Almost 2 years now.

Nice variety of products. Only complaint is a lack of instructions. I had to look online on how to use some of the products.

Ask our product experts...
Ask a Question
QIs the Bed Bug Kit #3 safe around pets and people?
ANone of our products including the products in the Bedbug Kit #3 are harmful to humans or pets when applied as directed on the product labels. You should always keep people (except for the person applying the products of course) and pets out of the room while the products are being applied. Once the products have dried, usually after one hour, then it is perfectly safe to allow people and pets back into the room.
QAfter the Bed Bug Kit #3 is applied in the home, how long should my wait before she re-enters the home.
AOnly people that are applying the products should be present at the time of the treatment, all other adults, children and pets should be out of the room. Everyone can re-enter the treated room as soon as the area is dry and the room has been vented, which usually takes about an hour.
QWhat is easiest and cheapest way to get rid of bed bugs?
AThere is no easy way to get rid of bedbugs, if there were an easy way to eliminate them then we would not be seeing so many people with infestations. Bedbug treatments are time consuming and labor intensive. You MUST treat every crack and crevice in infested areas, wash and dry clothing, inspect and treat books, shoes, knick knacks, papers, electronics and any other item that has potential to harbor the insects. A great way to save money when treating for bedbugs is to do it yourself. You can pay a professional pest control operator thousands to do the same job you can do yourself, with the same products for a couple of hundred dollars. We have all of the products you will need available on our website and we have an assortment of bedbug kits that we have put together for our customers convenience that contain all of the products you will need and will save a few bucks.
QDoes the Bed Bug Kit #3 really work and how long is it effective for?
AThe products in our Bed Bug Kits are the same products that you would pay a professional company to use. The products in our kits are the best available and they do work, but how well they work all depends on how you as the applicator applies them. You need to take your time and be very thorough when treating. All of our kits come with full instructions. As long as you follow those instructions and take your time, you will have great success like most of our customers. Each kit has enough product to treat at least 2 times. Some infestations may require additional products depending on severity and size of the infestation.
QWill these products hurt my pet?
I have a kitten and I am worried about the effects of insecticides on her. Do you have any products to add to the laundry?
AAll of the products in the Bedbug Kit #3 are safe to use around pets as long as you follow the product labels and the pet is out of the room while you do the actual treatment. Your pet can return to the room as soon as the treated areas are dry. There is no need to add any product to your laundry. Any bedbugs or bedbug eggs will be killed in the dryer. Bedbugs and bedbug eggs will be instantly killed when they are exposed to temperatures over 120 degrees. All household dryers reach temperatures over 120 degrees on any heat cycle.

QDoes the Bed Bug kit kill all of the bed bugs and are they found in Kenya?
AThe Bed Bug Kit #3 does control the bedbugs and when used appropriately will eliminate all of the bedbugs that someone has in their home and rooms. We are unsure if bedbugs are found in Kenya but it is possible since the pests is a hitch hiking insect with travelers. We unfortunately do not ship internationally at this time.

QRoom Prep prior to BB treatment
Is there a guide acailable, that can assist someone in prepping a bedroom before treatment? Is steaming all my hanging garments and then hanging them back up effective? (hanging them up in a treated closet). Will 'baby proofing outlets' also help with BB transfer?

QWhat is the difference between temprid and bedlam?
AWe are assuming you are referring to the Temprid Ready Spray as it also comes in a concentrated form as well. The Temprid Ready Spray and Bedlam Aerosol both work similarly to control bed bugs and give you a crack and crevice straw to use in drawers of dressers, bed frames and other hard to reach places that bed bugs hide. The biggest difference between the two is that Temprid is a newer product and is formulated with 2 active ingredients and one of the ingredients found in the Temprid there are no resistance issues with bedbugs. Bedlam has been used for a long time and is still a great product, however some strains of bedbugs have started to become resistant to pyrethroids, the classification of the chemical in bedlam and many other products on the market. That is one of the reasons why we have bed bugs kits with different ingredients in them to make sure you eliminate them and dont have to worry as much about running into resistent strains.

QRecently got BB kit #3. How is each product applied, is there wait time between each before applying the next?
Not sure what product to use first, why 2 fabric sprays? Apply both? Drying time between applications? Wait for drying to apply dust? How long?
A Here are the application instructions for Bed Bug Kit #3: For complete instructions, see our Step-by-Step Bed Bug Treatment PDF Guide: Five pages with pictures and information on how and where to use every product in your kit. A summary of each product’s use is included below. FenvaStar EcoCap (8 oz): FenvaStar EcoCap is a microencapsulated product containing Esfenvalerate (3.5%). Featuring the EcoCap technology FenvaStar EcoCap is made using a renewable vegetable oil instead of petroleum resulting in almost no odor and no VOCs. This enviromentally responsible pest control product will still quickly knockdown bed bugs. Shake well before diluting. Use 1-2 ounces of concentrate per gallon of water in a hand pump sprayer (not included). Apply Fenvastar EcoCap as a spot treatment to potential harborage sites and migration paths, and cracks and crevices, around baseboards, floorboards, headboards, and walls. ***Do NOT apply to furniture surfaces or mattresses where people will be laying or sitting. Infested bedding should not be treated with insecticides, but should be removed, placed in sealed plastic bags, and taken for laundering and drying at high temperatures.*** Steri-Fab: Steri-Fab is an alcohol based product that will evaporate after 10-20 minutes and leave no residual effect. Steri-Fab may be sprayed on almost any surface including those sensitive areas that you were not able to treat with other products (mattresses, sofas, bedding, dog beds, etc.). This product is one of the only products that recent research shows will kill bedbug eggs. Application: Spray in areas of bedbug activity, such as tufts and folds of mattresses, sofas, etc. (Steri-Fab must come in direct contact with bedbugs and bedbug eggs to be effective). Bellows Hand Duster: The bellows hand duster included with this kit should be used to apply the dust to any cracks and crevices needed. By using the bellows hand duster you will be able to apply the correct amount of dust in the correct place. 4 Cans Bedlam (17 oz each): Bedlam comes in a convenient aerosol spray that may be sprayed on areas that other products cannot. Bedlam may be used for spot treatments on mattresses, upholstered furniture, drawers, bed frames, carpeted areas, curtains...You may also use Bedlam to knock down fleeing bedbugs after initial treatment of other insecticides. Includes a straw tool for spraying into small cracks, crevices and other hiding places. Always shake well before use.
Bed Bug Kit #3 Application Instructions
Cimexa Dust for Bed Bugs (4 oz. bottle): Dusts are great for applying under baseboards around the room (this stops bedbugs from fleeing the room and spreading to other areas), for dusting on and inside the box spring itself, and for dusting in cracks and crevices where liquids may not go (such as in and behind picture frames, underneath furniture, in the cracks of dresser drawers, and in the joints, cracks and hollow tubing of bed frames, etc.). Dust is best applied with the hand duster that is included with your kit. Apply in a fine coating on surfaces, and do not over-dust. Leaving piles of dust will just cause the insect to walk around the dust and not through it.
Also be sure to go to the kit page on our website as we also have an instructional video.

QI have bed bugs. What product will kill them the fastest and how long must I treat?
I have a cat and 3 kids.
AThere are no short cuts when it comes to bedbug elimination. A few bedbugs can become a plethora of bedbugs in very short order and you need to be proactive. All of the pretreatment requirements that you may have heard about such as washing and bagging your clothes, removing clutter and etc is just that , is a requirement. We have several different sizes of bedbugs kits that contain the products we recommend for doing a proper treatment. We do not recommend changing rooms. You will end up having the bedbugs scatter to different areas of your home as they try to find a meal. Just finding bumps on your body is not indicative of bedbugs. Bumps could be an allergic reaction to something or a mosquito bite, not necessarily bedbugs. Bedbugs are not invisible, and you should be able to find evidence of an infestation. Try sleeping with solid, light colored sheets and inspecting them in the morning for blood spots. You can see all the instructions you will need for treating in our Bed Bug Treatment Guide which comes included in your order when you purchase a kit. The treatments should be performed when the cat and the children are not in the area. They can re-enter when the products have completely dried and the room has been properly ventilated.
