5 of 5 stars  Great Product! Gets rid of mild bed bug problems.
By Bedlam in New York, NY on 01/17/2009

I had a mild infestation due to an adjoining apartment. After reading up on bed bugs I thought I would never get rid of them. But after about two months of using BedLam Insecticide to treat spot areas and furniture they were gone. I also have a dog and he did not get sick. The residual effect also kills other bugs you didn't even know you had. Remember to put vaseline or mineral oil around bedpost and furniture legs to keep them from returning. Wash and bag all clothes while you are doing treatment. Use gloves when spraying and keep pets away until dry.

5 of 5 stars  Great Product
By Greg in Arlington, VA on 12/22/2010
    Verified Purchase

After previously paying almost $600 for 3 professional treatments, my bed bug problem was gone for only about 1 month until it returned. I bought 3 cans of this and the Drione dust to treat my one bedroom condo on my own. Rather than wash everything and bag everything up this time during treatment, I simply sprayed this all on the sides of my mattress (which still had an encasement from months earlier), crevices and around the baseboards of my bedroom walls and couch (basically anywhere my fiance and I would sleep). I figured they have to eat and would come into contact with the Bedlam when they came to feed. After the first treatment, we never saw another bug and my fiance never got another bite. It has been 3 months. Every 14 days I emptied out a can of the bedlam under my couch cushions, around bed and baseboards. Also sprinkled the Drione around baseboards and in couch. After 1 treatment the problem was solved, but did 2 follow up treatments just to be safe. I keep 2 cans of these in my closet just in case we notice more bites. Also, is an extremely reliable service, with very fast (and free) shipping. Will never use a professional pest control service again!

5 of 5 stars  Bedlam did the job, but with some effort
By Cynthia in Washington, DC on 10/25/2009
    Verified Purchase

My old apartment became infested with bedbugs, but the management didn't treat the apartment aggressively enough. When I moved to a new apartment, some of the bugs came with me, much to my dismay. I have applied Bedlam thoroughly to my bedroom floor, baseboards, and closets 10 times over a 3-month period. I think that I have finally gotten rid of the bugs. I had read that Bedlam is effective against bedbug eggs as well, which I'm hoping is the case. I have invested in a bedbug mattress cover and am carefully inspecting my bedding for any signs of bugs. I have also been keeping my clothes in plastic bags until I'm sure they're gone. I would recommend this product, but be consistent and diligent. I have also applied MotherEarth D to my bedroom floor using the hand duster. I continue to keep a very thin layer of MotherEarth D on my hardwood floor in the bedroom. I also used the Gentrol IGR aerosol twice, which I hoped help, but I'm not sure how effective it truly was. My only regret is that I didn't buy more Bedlam to begin with (since it is cheaper if you buy more from the get go).

Just wanted to write a great review for the Bed Bug Kit which included this product. We had bed bugs in our bed it was horrible and disgusting. We called a pest company and they wanted 800.00 dollars. I bought this kit from DoMyOwnPestControl and it worked. It has been a month and we are bed bug free. But I do recommend buying the bed bug kit since these bugs live in woodwork and drapes so just this product alone works better with the kit. I now just keep this in my bedroom and spray every week to be sure. Thanks to Do My Own Pest I have saved 700.00. Thanks

By Don in Knoxville, TN on 08/09/2017

We have found this to be a good product that has been effective to control bed bugs, lice, ticks, fleas, and dust mites. It works quickly and may be used as for crack and crevice treatment and on and around baseboards, floorboards, headboards, and walls. Since this product is water-based and non-irritating, it has been effectively used to spot treat bedding and mattresses when controlling bed bugs. In addition, we have noticed that it has not stained any water-safe fabrics or surfaces. Always use products in a safe manor as described by the manufacturers label.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Bedlam
By Nia in NEW HAVEN on 07/01/2017

I believe it worked, I did see a decrease in bugs . Not 100% gone but a good decrease. See I was about to move into a single family 4 bedroom home when a week prior to move in I discovered the bugs. The home was vacant for quite sometime and it recently was updated and a Master Bedroom & Bathroom was added on. The Landlord worked fast and called exterminator. I think these bugs are super super hard to get rid of he treated the home 4 times total with spray and one time with dust. And they were still there. What the fudge.!?! So I searched how to do my own bedbug control and got this. I also got the Cimexa powder and the Phantom. Now I really see a decrease. The first night in home, I saw 16 bugs, one was on my daughters bed. The next night was one. Now I been seeing one every night so the bugs are definitely a work to get rid of but if you stick to it they will decrease. I'm going to order another can and treat again with these products in another 4 weeks. Thank You it's worth the price shipping is fast and free products are awesome. #letsgetbedbugfree

  • 4 of 5 stars  BedLam Insecticide
By Dean in Denver, Colorado on 05/11/2017

BedLam Insecticide has helped me control a bed bug infestation. In the beginning I purchased three cans and sprayed everywhere that I thought the bed bugs could be hiding. Bed bugs are very hard to see when they hatch, but they keep shedding and keep growing. I used the three cans, but I still had bed bugs, so I purchased a case and continued to spray at least once a week for two weeks and now I haven't seen any traces of the bed bugs, but I will continue to spray for two more weeks just to be sure as they are very hard to kill as they hide in the smallest places.

4 of 5 stars  Just being proactive
By Elizabeth in BUFFALO on 01/31/2017

I recently had house guests who had dealt with an infestation. So even though we took all precautions (alcohol sprays in luggage, clothes in dryer etc), I wanted a back up precaution. As I worked I saw no evidence of bugs, but the spray did NOT have a caustic odor and was very easy to apply. I feel secure that the residual affect will keep my home bug free for a while. I even feel safe reapplying it every few months.

QWhich spray product is best to kill bed bugs and the bed bug eggs on furniture such as dressers and tables?

ABedlam , Bedlam Plus and Steri-fab known to kill adult bed bugs and their eggs  Bedlam will leave a 6 week residual and Steri-Fab is a contact kill only so it is great for sensitve areas like couches, chairs, and mattresses.

QCan Bedlam Bed Bug Aerosol Spray be used on bed sheets?
The Bedlam Insecticide instructions say to spray on garments - can we spray this product directly on our sheets before going to bed - perhaps after allowing it to dry for about 10-15 minutes and then placing another clean sheet over it?

We would not recommend spraying your sheets. Bedbugs do not live on the sheets and this would not be a good use of the product. Instead, concentrate on treating the mattress, headboard, footboard, rails and surrounding areas. Allow the Bedlam to dry on the mattress first and then sleep on a clean sheet that is over the treated area.

Qdifference between bedlam spray and bedlam plus
What is the difference between the bedlam plus for bed bugs and the regular bedlam spray. The plus is more expensive. Is it a stronger grade? Longer residual? Or are they identical?

AThe Bedlam Plus has all of the ingredients from regular Bedlam plus an extra added ingredient called imidacloprid which makes it work much better for folks that are dealing with pyrethroid resistant strains of bedbugs. Bedlam plus does not last longer than regular bedlam.

QHow long does Bedlam aerosol last?
We have an infestation so far, in our bedroom, trying to keep them contained in one room and we have sprayed adjoining rooms as well. However, we are spraying nearly daily and still they show up at night..last night's count just five. We are still laundering and washing and steaming our clothes. Have also steamed the floors, all wood of course. Do we have to spray the mattress cover do we find the eggs?

ABedlam will typically last for 6 weeks under normal conditions.  The bedbugs that walk over the area will die, but they will not die instantly.  It can take up to a few hours for them to die, so you will still see them.  The only product that we have that kills on contact is Steri-Fab and even still, contact means it takes minutes, not instantly.  If you have only used Bedlam, you may want to use some of the other products found in our bed bug kits.

QWhat is the best treatment for carpets when treating for bed bugs?

ABed Bugs actually do not normally hang out on the carpets and usually the carpets would be the last place to treat.  Most treatments are directed in cracks and crevices, around the bed, baseboards, and harborage areas where bed bugs like to hide.  You can use Bedlam on carpets as well as Steri-Fab.

QWhat should I use to treat the carpet for dust mites?
I have a son who has dust allergy. I have sorted his bed etc out so its just the carpet that is the only problem.

We recommend that you vacuum daily, steam treat once a week and apply BioDefense or Sterifab onn the surface. Bedlam should be applied around the cracks and crevices twice a month when your child is not present (room needs to be dry and properly ventilated prior to returning to areas treated). QWhat is the best product to use on wood furniture for potential bedbugs?
Bought a fabulous hutch at a thrift store. Have Steri-Fab in house, it removed finish from furniture. I was going to repaint it anyway. Going forward, is there a product that I can use that will keep finish intact?

If you had trouble using Steri-Fab, then we would recommend switching to a water-base product (Steri-Fab has an alcohol base). A popular choice would be Bedlam Aerosol, which also comes with a crack and crevice straw for easy spot and joint applications. Bedlam is generally safe on most surfaces, however we would still recommend testing a small area if the furniture has shown sensitivity to other sprays.

In addition to any heat treatments for bedbug control, we highly recommend that you apply the products in our Bedbug Kits.
