    Q
I am getting too much dust when I squeeze the bellow hand duster. Am I doing something wrong?
Firstly thanks for your great level of service and pricing. My last order included Delta dust and a duster. I am trying to dust my electrical outlets, however I notice no matter how gently I squeeze the duster I seem to get dust all over the place. The Delta dust seems to spill out into a cloud out of the electrical outlets. I am concerned that I could inhale the dust. Any advice would be appreciated.
    A
You are most likely holding the bellow hand duster incorrectly. After you fill the bellow hand duster about 1/4-1/3 of the way with dust you should replace the black cap and then flip the duster over so the red or blue band is now at the top and the black rubber cap is facing the ground. This will help you dispense smaller amounts of dust into the outlets.

    Q
How can I solve the problem of a lot of dust shooting out with the Bellow duster?
When I use this with Drione Dust, a lot of dust just shoots out of the duster and it is really frustrating, so I want to know how to resolve this problem? Or do you have an electric duster for indoor purposes?
    A
The bellow hand duster is made to hold in different positions to control the amount of dust that comes out.  To let out the least amount of dust, you should actually hold the duster upside down, with the black plunger facing down.  If you hold it to the side it will let out a little more, and then if you hold it upright, black plunger up which is probably how you are applying it now, it lets out the most amount of dust.  The least amount of dust is actually the best method, so you should hold it upside down.

    Q
Can the hand duster be used multiple times?
I was going to use it with Tri Dust. How often do I have to replace it?
    A
The bellow hand duster can be used over and over again with no problem. Be sure to store the duster in a cool dry environment so that the rubber on the duster will not breakdown. Most people have their bellow hand dusters for years before they need to be replaced.

    Q
Can I use an extension hose at end of the extension tip of the Bellow Hand Duster?
I know you sell the Long Shot Puffer, but will a piece of tubing, say 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch diameter hose fit on the end to use as an extension if I need to reach a few feet.
    A

We would recommend only using the Bellow Hand Duster as is, and not attempting add any additional tubing to the end of the extension. You most likely would lose both dust and necessary air pressure out of the connection. If you need to reach longer distances, you could something like the B&G 2 Quart Duster 1152-A, which has several different attachments and adds an electrostatic charge to insecticide dusts. You may browse all of our Dusters here.

    Q
Can the same bellow hand duster be used with two different dust pesticides?
.... as long as it is emptied of the first type before filling it with the second type?
    A
As long as the bellow hand duster is completely emptied of the first dust insecticide there should be no problem using a second dust product in the same duster.

    Q
Is there a hand duster that will reach farther than the Bellow Hand Duster?
I need to treat a wasp nest that is a good reach from my deck.
    A

The Bellow Hand Duster has a 5 inch wand.  For farther distances, you can use the Long Shot Puffer Duster, which has a 14 inch wand.  If that still will not get you close enough, you may want to consider the Dustick Duster, which has a 21-foot reach.

    Q
Going to kill bumble bee nest under a whiskey barrel. Is the inexpensive duster OK or do I need B&G?
The bees are definitely Bumble, not carpenter. They are in my back yard close to back door under a whiskey barrel planter. No body wants to move them, so I have to kill them. Too dangerous to allow them to stay with child & a dog that hunts bugs. I'm concerned about the nozzle length of the different dusters & being able to effectively get under the planter.
    A
The bellow hand duster is usually sufficient for most small jobs. The bellow hand duster does have a 5 inch extension nozzle and you only have to get into the entrance of the nest. As the bees go in and out they will spread the dust through the nest themselves.

    Q
Does the Bellow Hand Duster work well with Borax acid for ants?
By electrical outlets would Borax acid work as well as other products.
    A

The Bellow Hand Duster will work well with any dust.  We highly suggest you read over our detailed article called "How to Get Rid of Ants." This gives a detailed breakdown of what steps to take for treating whether using baits or sprays and where to look for nesting sites.  Boric acid dusts can be used but they can take up to 14 days to kill an insect after they ingest it so might not be the best solo item to use, depending on your situation.

  • Asked by Daryn from Snellville

    Q
How should the Bellow Hand Duster be used?
I have tried using it upside down as recommended. I used it in other varying positions. I either end up with just a small clump of powder or nothing at all. I need detailed help in making this work
    A

We would recommend filling the Bellow Hand Duster only 2/3 full, as well as adding some small pebbles or coins to prevent clumping. Use with the cap facing the ground and gently puff the dust. The included cleaning tool can be used in the extension to clear a path for the dust to disperse. We also suggest using only fine insecticide dust through this applicator. Please call us at 866-581-7378 if you need further assistance.

  • Asked by Michelle from Chapin, Sc

    Q
How much easier is the new design to compress?
I have the old design which I use to apply DE to my cats as the tip places the dust close to the skin where the fleas are. However, I have very small hands and need one of them to hold the cat. Is this one noticeably easier to use so that my hands won't become as fatigued?
    A
The design of the Bellow Hand Duster has remained the same and we are not able to tell a difference between the ease of use. The Bellow Hand Duster has a spring mechanism that does require more presure to expel the dust. However, if the pressure needed to push the dust is a concern maybe the Bulb Duster may be a better option for your needs.

    Q
Is tube flexible on the Bellow Hand Duster?
    A

The extension on the Bellow Hand Duster is not flexible. We do carry other dusters that can be used for treating carpenter bee holes such as the B&G Bulb Duster 1150.

    Q
Can you use the extended Bellow Hand Duster to shoot upwards?
    A

The Bellow Hand Duster and the Long Shot Puffer Duster are designed to treat cracks and crevices or voids where you place the tip of the duster, so it will only travel a few inches from the tip. If you have a tall vertical void to treat, you could also drill high in the column and let gravity carry the dust down.

    Q
What should I use to apply dust for bed bugs?
    A

Insecticide dusts should be applied with a hand duster, such as the Bellow Hand Duster.  This makes it easier to apply the product in cracks and crevices where insects are found.

    Q
Can you get rid of fleas in your carpets using the Bellow Hand Duster?
    A

You could potentially use a bellow hand duster to apply a dust such as CimeXa Dust to carpets before working the dust into it to treat for fleas. We do not, however, recommend that a dust be the only product you use for flea control. Our Indoor Flea Kit contains a dust plus a ready-to-use spray which has quicker knockdown of adult fleas plus and Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) for long-term treatment.  Please take a few moments to review our Flea Treatment Guide for more tips on how to eradicate this pest successfully.

    Q
Will the Bellow Hand Duster work to apply dust vertically to treat voids in a ceiling created by light fixtures or will it only work with the dust wand positioned horizontally?
    A

The Bellow Hand Duster is only intended to be used with the dust wand horizontal to successfully work. The B&G Bulb Duster may be a better option as this duster comes with extension tips to reach into voids, cracks and crevices easier.

    Q
How do you empty the Bellow Hand Duster if wanting to switch to a different insecticide dust?
    A

The Bellow Hand Duster comes with a cleaning tool and it can be used in the extension to clear a path for the dust to disperse. You should wear chemical resistant gloves when handling the duster and dust. The cap on the top can be opened to empty the remaining dust from duster if wanting to use another insecticide dust.
