October 16, 2011David from Nj asked:
QIs prodiamine or bensulide better for controlling poa anna in tall fescue? Can you supply pints of Prograss?
AThere is not a selective herbicide for taking poa anna out of fescue. Also, if you are going to apply a pre-emergent and you are not overseeding, prodiamine is a great choice but for most areas it should have been applied before Sept. 15th and is now probably too late. If you are overseeding your fescue, you will have to let the poa anna come up with it as you cannot apply a pre-emergent if you are over seeding. There is a program though using Prograss as you stated for removing the poa anna which requires a treatment in Dec. and then another one in early spring. We are waiting to hear back from our distributor about Prograss and the pricing, however it is not available in a pint size. It may only be available in a 2.5 gallon jug. I will be in touch as soon as I hear something.
