    Q
Will a large amount of rainfall decrease effectiveness of the Bifen Granules?
I put down a 10 foot wide barrier of Bifen granules in the lawn around our house to keep carpenter ants from entering. I planned to take advantage of natural rainfall to water the granules into the lawn. Unfortunately, what was forecast to be rain showers turned out to be 4 inches of rain as measured in our rain gauge. I don't think the water actually ran off and took the insecticide with it. However, will just the large amount of rainfall decrease its effectiveness in the soil? Should I apply another treatment?
    A
A large amount of rain fall should not take away the effectiveness of Bifen Granules. especially if there was no run off. You would want to reapply in 2 months time.

    Q
What number do I use for a Scotts Speedy Green rotary spreader for application of Bifen Granules?
    A

We don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting to apply Bifen Granules is as follows:

If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft you would add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high

Will the Bifen Granules kill sod webworms?
I purchased two 25 lb bags from you after speaking to a rep on chat. One of my neighbors said the granules would not work on the eggs. Have I wasted 60 bucks or will the granules work?
    A

Bifen Granules will kill sod webworms and is one of the most popular ones for them.  It will not kill the eggs, though, and no product will do so.

    Q
Are Bifen Granules safe to use in a yard with dogs? I'm wanting to kill ticks and fleas, is this going to work?
    A

Bifen Granules should be broadcast with a spreader and watered in and completely dry before allowing pets in the treated areas. They will be safe once dried. The Bifen Granules would be a great treatment for many insects but if you are treating for ticks and fleas, we highly recommend applying the products in our Tick Control Kit. It is important to mow the lawn 1-2 days prior to your first application and treat once every two weeks outdoors for flea control. You will make a minimum of two applications. Additional treatments should be applied if needed. Please let us know if you need anything else.

    Q
I believe I have springtails in my home. They are very small, pale or black. How can I get rid of spring tails?
Tried to kill the bugs. They are around almost all of the windows in my home. I also find them on the air conditioners. Several websites mention Bifen granules to kill them. Is there an effective spray that I can use to kill them? It must be something strong. I have already tried bleach and some pest control sprays that I found at Home Depot. Please let me know if you can help.
    A

Spring tails can be tough to eliminate because they reproduce very quickly. In almost every case where people have spring tails, they also have a moisture problem such as a leaking or sweating pipe, poor ventilation in their crawl space, lots of wet mulch right up next to their house, etc. You must locate and correct the moisture problem to get rid of the spring tails, insecticides alone will not do the job. We do carry Bifen L/P granules and Bifen IT liquid, both of which can help you to reduce the numbers of springtails.

    Q
When is the best time to apply Bifen Granules to treat for Cicada killers?
The Cicada Killer males are flying around like crazy but no holes in lawn yet.
    A

For preventative control, applying the Bifen Granules now will treat before the Cicada Killers start burrowing into the ground and help reduce the population. Once they have started to burrow and make holes in the ground, then you can apply the Tempo 1% Dust. Also, the Bifen LP Granules would not yield immediate results, but stop them from returning the following year.

    Q
Should I use Bifen L/P Granules or Bifen IT?
I recently bought Bifen IT. I was looking into the Bifen granules but it appears the liquid covers over 10x more square footage than the granules for the same price. Is there a benefit to using the granules on the lawn over the concentrate and a hose sprayer or is it just convenience?
    A

Bifen IT and Bifen Granules are both great to use. Many of our customers keep both on hand so they can spray to exterior of structures/entry points and to interior crevices as well as the lawn and foliage. The liquid offers a 30 day outdoor residual while the granules will last a bit longer - about 2-4 months in the lawn.

    Q
Bigheaded ants: Need advice as how to treat and which product you have.
    A
Insecticide granules such as Bifen granules would be a good choice to help control the population of big headed ants as it will last for 3-4 months. Bifen Granules will kill ants that venture on to treated areas.  Another great choice would be to use Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait. This bait is also labeled for big headed ants specifically and would be a great choice for your use. Extinguish Plus combines the power of hydramethylnon with an insect growth regulator (like birth control for ants) to kill big headed ant workers and prevent queens from laying fertile eggs. This product would kill the ants that picked up the bait and also kill the ants back at the colony

    Q
Can you use Bifen Granules in your home, and if so what do you use to apply it indoors?
I have ordered from your company several times, due to my ongoing problem with Springtails. I would like to get rid of them once, and for all so I am considering ordering Bifen Granules. My question is can you use this product in your home, and if so what do you use to apply it indoors? Please answer ASAP, because it has been over a month that I been dealing these horrible creatures! :(
    A
Bifen granules can not be used indoors as this is a product designed to be watered in after placed down, and this application would not work indoors. You would need the Bifen IT, the concentrate version of the Bifen Granules that can be used indoors and outdoors. You would spray the Bifen inside around baseboards, cracks, crevices, windows and door frames and around plumbing pipes. You would also spray about 2-3 feet up the side of your foundation of your home and 2-3 feet out on the ground, and then create a barrier across the lawn with the Bifen granules. You will need to find the areas in and around your home where there seems to be a moisture issue. Please refer to our How To Get Rid Of Springtails article to see proper treatment methods for the pest and where to look for sources of the nesting site.

  • Asked by J. from Denison, Teexas

    Q
    Does Bifen Granules kill chiggers
    A
Onslaught is a great product for chigger control. Treatments for chiggers should begin in April/May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.

Bifen LP is the finer sandy granule. Talstar EZ contains the same active ingredient as Bifen LP but is the larger granule that you are looking to use in your lawn spreader.

  • Asked by Kim from Pleasanton, Ca
    12/04/2017
    Q
Are Bifen Granules a repellent or non-repellent insecticide?
    A

Bifen Granules would be considered a repellent as far as social insects such as ants are concerned. This is because the product kills insects quickly which come in contact with treated areas, as opposed to the slower action in non-repellent products which allow the active ingredient time to transfer among social insects.
