Bifen IT and the very popular Talstar P have the exact same label and the same amount of active ingredient.
Active Ingredient: Bifenthrin - 7.9% synthetic pyrethroid.
DESCRIPTION: Talstar One, Bifen I/T and other Bifenthrin generics control over 75 common insect pests, including termites. Bifen can be used as an indoor and outdoor pest control, turf and ornamental application, and for treating pests in food-handling areas. Both Talstar One and Bifen I/T contain microcrystals that do not break down easily with rain once they bond to surfaces. Both Talstar One and Bifen IT are clear substances that leave no stains on painted surfaces.
Bifen IT can last up to 6 months outside. It is very effective on Japanese Beetles, clover mites ants, termites, fleas, ticks, spiders, scorpions, roaches, millipedes, earwigs, army worms, mealybugs, mites, grasshoppers, pillbugs, cutworms, sod webworms, weevils, leaf miners, box elder bugs, bees, wasps, sowbugs, crickets, and turf and ornamental pests.
USE: Best applied with a 1 gallon sprayer. Apply to outside foundation and all entry points such as around windows, doors, etc. Always read the label completely before use!

It's amazing!
By Nick on October 9, 2008I bought Bifen IT because I saw it so highly recommended on this website. I had seen at least one cockroach each day since moving into our new house, so I knew that it needed spraying. The instructions for the Bifen IT product were clear and easy to understand. I also got a 2-gallon sprayer to use, and it worked really well. I sprayed around the foundation up to 3 feet and about 2 feet away from the house, along with any other cracks and crevices around doors, etc. I haven't seen any cockroaches in the 6 weeks since I sprayed. It's amazing! I did find a dead one outside the house around the perimeter of the porch. This stuff really works. For the price, it's a bargain, and you can save yourself a lot of money by taking the hour or so to completely do your house. I plan on re-spraying every 3 months to keep the bugs out. If you're looking for a good deal on pest control, do it yourself with Bifen IT. I also had some questions about how to use it and the customer support people here on the site were very prompt and helpful.

"Secret" solution

I live in South Florida and about 4 years ago I noticed a 'new' variety of ant which came in fast and furious. The first year wasn't terribly bad but the second year they had multiplied 5x in numbers. I saw a pest control truck at a neighbors house and asked the guy what he knew about this new ant. He called it the "Caribbean Crazy Ant" (I looked it up on the Internet and sure enough, that was the 'new' ant). He told me that he could control this ant with a "secret" solution, and by the third year I called him for help. I live on a 1.3 acre landscaped lot with many trees, bushes, plants. He sprayed my yard and all the foliage for $200. I guess he thought that I would not attempt to spray this huge yard myself so he actually divulged his "secret" solution. He told me he used Talstar. So back to the Internet I went and found the generic Bifen IT brand. I ordered it and sprayed my own yard the next year for less than $30. The ants stayed away from my house and I will use this product each and every spring from this point on! BTW: of course, not only did it control the crazy ants, it has kept all other pests away as well!

Outstanding results on spiders, mosquitos, ants, fleas/ticks
By Charles on June 18, 2010I own a campground in Texas, and I have been using Bifen IT for several years. I mix 1 ounce of Bifen IT per gallon of water and spray a fine mist on the lower branches of the trees in the campground (up to 6 feet off the ground). The mist that does not land on the tree branches falls to the ground, so I don't have to spray the ground. I treat the campground once every 6 months, and I have absolutely no problems with any insect. It kills mosquitos and ants almost immediately upon contact, and it takes about 30 seconds to kill spiders. When spiders are sprayed, they usually remain still for 15 seconds. Then they begin to feel the effects of the insecticide and their legs start moving frantically back and forth. At the end of 30 seconds the spider is dead. I'm not talking about little spiders. The spiders we have around here have bodies the size of a golf ball. By the way, I should mention that I add 1/4 cup of Dawn liquid dishwashing soap to 15 gallons of mixed insecticide. The liquid soap helps the insecticide stick to the foliage. Excellent product!

Great stuff
By Butch on June 22, 2009I like this better than Malathion and Sevin. I spray our lawn, perennials, annuals, shrubs, trees, rain gutters, under our deck and foundation with Bifen IT. I'm on a wooded acre and spray as much of my property as I can. I give everything a good wet spray with a hose end sprayer which offers more coverage than a tank sprayer. I spray a few days after a rain when everything is dried out. I've always thought that the rain and moisture breeds mosquitoes so that is a good time to spray them. There is no odor. But it's the insect protection that is fantastic. We spend a lot of time outside in the yard and gardens. We also spend a lot of time on our back deck at night. In the past it would be unbearable. This stuff kills bugs dead and keeps killing which seems like weeks at a time. Pesky mosquitoes and gnats are history. If you wanna be able to spend time outside and those flying insects are a problem then this is the stuff you need. I just hope the state doesn't outlaw it.

Extremely effective

Clover Mites Extinct!

Worth it!
June 17, 2013Purchased product based on other users and reviews and decided to try a natural pest control. Sprayed around door entries, windows and perimeter of house mainly for ants. Its been 3 weeks and there are no signs of any trying to get in the house. Poof! Gone No smell and no mess and I just used a 1 gal. sprayer to take care of area.

Bifen I/T works great!
June 14, 2013This is some of the best product i have used to control insects around my home and lawn. Its cheaper than Talstar and basically same product. I can spray this out and get atleast 2 months control from common household bugs such as ants, fleas, ticks, and cockroaches. Recommended!

Bifen IT
June 12, 2013The Bifen IT arrived quickly and applies with an adjustable yard and garden hose adaptor for easy application. Prior to the application we had been bitten several times by ticks and fire ants. After the application, I haven't seen a single fire ant mound and haven't seen any ticks. Good product at a good price.

June 9, 2013I purchased this for relief from Mosquitos! It works amazing. This year the Mosquitos were the worst I've ever seen. I sprayed this along the perimeter of my yard and it drastically reduced them. Now if I run a repellant coil while outside we really don't have a single mosquito around us. Great product.

Great Product well worth the price
June 3, 2013Living in Central Florida bugs are always an issue, there are some here that say the mosquito should be our State Bird. Bottom line, Bifen IT used as directed works. I have see a huge reduction in pest after using this product. That includes roaches, fleas, noseeums, gnats, etc..

Best product I've found for killing pita bugs!!
June 1, 2013You can't beat this stuff. I used it when I lived in Wisconsin to keep out the ants and asian beetles. Now that I live in Georgia I keep the cockroaches, ants, termites and anything else you can imagine outta the house. I spray the backyard, too and have no mosquitoes. The only down side is there are less birds eating bugs off the lawn, but those are mostly robins anyway so who cares. It lasts, too.

Bifen IT does the job

ABifen I/T is our most popular choice for mosquito control. The Bifen XTS is the same product, just in a higher concentration. For mosquito control you do not need the higher concentration, it is not necessary. Bifen I/T would also be a better solution then permethrin because permethrin breaks down quicker in sunlight and the Bifen I/T only needs to be applied every 30 days whereas permethrin would need to be applied every two weeks. The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs. You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees around the outside patio or wherever you hang out at around the house. You should also treat the tree line in your yard near the forest if one exists. Remember to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves.

AAll of our liquid insecticides including Bifen IT should be applied in dry weather, not rainy weather. All of the liquid insecticides are made to bond to dry surfaces and will last longer when applied when it is dry and not going to rain for at least 24 hours. The temperature does not matter as much. It can be applied in hot or cold weather, but it must be dry and not wet to work at its highest potential.

ABifen IT is considered a general use insecticide and is labeled for outside and inside use. It is odorless, and very safe to use around children or pets. The general rule is that while spraying you keep children or pets in another room or outside to play. After about one hour it should be dry and it is perfectly safe to allow kids and/or pets back in the room. This product is only strong enough to kill tiny insects, and would have no effect on animals like rabbits, etc.

ABifen IT is a great product for both of those pests as well as many others. Bifen IT is one of our most popular products and can be used both indoors and outside. Just keep in mind that Bifen IT cannot be used on vegetable gardens or fruit bearing trees or anything you plan on eating.

AYou can absolutely spray the soil with Bifen IT prior to placing down your soil. It will help minimize activity but you will most likely still want to spray over the sod periodically to keep the rest of the population on top of the new sod down.

ABifen IT is a great residual product, but just like any other insecticide, its not going to hold up long term to the environment. Most will give an outdoor residual of at least 30 days, and depending on how much UV rays break it down and rain you get, will determine whether it will last closer to 60 or 90 days. You can treat all the areas you mentioned with the Bifen for almost every insect. If you are looking to treat wood decks for wood destroying insects you would use a product like Boracare and then seal/stain the wood afterwards to keep it in. AThe Cy Kick CS you have been using is a great product for Scorpions but we do understand the need for more cost effective options. You want to go with a product that will sit on top of the surface better than the Bifen IT. If you dont have any dark surfaces to treat, you could use a product like Cyper WP. It is a wettable powder you would mix with water and spray in the same manor you would the Cy Kick CS. A 1lb jar will yield 24-48 gallons of mixed solution depending on the mix ratio you use. If you do have dark surfaces to treat and you are worried about a visible residue, you could swap to something like Equil Lambda 9.7. The problem with treating for scorpions is they are so difficult to kill that it requires a higher dose of chemical per gallon with most products, and a wider area you have to cover. There is not going to be an huge difference in price between many of the products as they all use roughly the same amounts. The Onslaught FastCap Spider and Scorpion Insecticide is a newer product that is supposed to give a better/faster knock down and a longer residual. It may be worth it to try this product as it will give you a few more gallons of solution than the Cy Kick and you may have to spray less often.

AIt sounds like the life cycle needs to be interrupted. You may want to use a larvicide. Larvicides- Mosquito larvae will breed wherever suitable water is available, including bird baths, old automobile tires, rain barrels, ponds, abandoned or unused swimming pools (particularly above ground types), ditches, tree holes, roof gutters, flower pots, animal watering troughs, elevator shafts,. If it is not possible to eliminate a particular source, larvicides may be used to kill mosquito larvae before they are able to develop into breeding adults. Larvicides may take the form of either briquettes or granules that are placed in standing water and release chemical for up to 30 days. You can also mix in Nyguard Igr which will prevent the larvae from maturing into reproducing adults. Nyguard IGR can also cause sterility and possible death in adult mosquitos.

AThat's awesome Bifen IT has been doing such a great job for you. To treat the Earwigs, please refer to our article Getting Rid of Earwigs. There are many steps you can take to treat and prevent earwigs and Silverfish. By following the steps in our article you will also help to eliminate the Silverfish as well. You also may want to try a residual spray like Demon WP that is labeled for earwigs and silver fish. You want to spray the entire perimeter indoors and out.

AYou may want to mix in an IGR to breakdown the reproduction cycle. By mixing Nyguard IGR in with the bifen mixture it will prevent the eggs, larvae or nymphs from maturing into reproductive adults thereby controlling future infestations.NyGuard IGR will cause morphological anomalies or changes and disrupt the expected insects' state of development, leading to sterility or death. Nyguard is also great because it is photostable and will withstand the suns UV rays for up to 6 months.

AYou can use between .5 and 1 ounce per gallon of water. Depending on how your hose end sprayer is set up, you would need to select one of those two rates on the dial to properly dilute it. Either rate is acceptable for the treatment of springtails.

AYes, Bifen It would be a great choice to treat flies. It dries clear and is odorless. You can apply the mixed solution to lawns, trees, shrubs, indoors. It has a long lasting residual. You may want to retreat during the fly season once every 30 days. Otherwise Bifen has a 3 month residual.

AWe do not recommend outside of the product label. The manufacturer states to use no more than 1 oz per 1 gallon of water. This product is a residual based product. The residual outdoors is 30 days indoors 90 days. Even if you were to use 4oz, you would still need to reapply per the product label of 30 to 90 days.
