I bought Bifen IT because I saw it so highly recommended on this website. I had seen at least one cockroach each day since moving into our new house, so I knew that it needed spraying. The instructions for the Bifen IT product were clear and easy to understand. I also got a 2-gallon sprayer to use, and it worked really well. I sprayed around the foundation up to 3 feet and about 2 feet away from the house, along with any other cracks and crevices around doors, etc. I haven't seen any cockroaches in the 6 weeks since I sprayed. It's amazing! I did find a dead one outside the house around the perimeter of the porch. This stuff really works. For the price, it's a bargain, and you can save yourself a lot of money by taking the hour or so to completely do your house. I plan on re-spraying every 3 months to keep the bugs out. If you're looking for a good deal on pest control, do it yourself with Bifen IT. I also had some questions about how to use it and the customer support people here on the site were very prompt and helpful.

I live in South Florida and about 4 years ago I noticed a 'new' variety of ant which came in fast and furious. The first year wasn't terribly bad but the second year they had multiplied 5x in numbers. I saw a pest control truck at a neighbors house and asked the guy what he knew about this new ant. He called it the "Carribbean Crazy Ant" (I looked it up on the Internet and sure enough, that was the 'new' ant). He told me that he could control this ant with a "secret" solution, and by the third year I called him for help. I live on a 1.3 acre landscaped lot with many trees, bushes, plants. He sprayed my yard and all the foilage for $200. I guess he thought that I would not attempt to spray this huge yard myself so he actually divulged his "secret" solution. He told me he used Talstar. So back to the Internet I went and found the generic Bifen IT brand. I ordered it and sprayed my own yard the next year for less than $30. The ants stayed away from my house and I will use this product each and every spring from this point on! BTW: of course, not only did it control the crazy ants, it has kept all other pests away as well!

I use Bifen IT to control fleas outside where my cat hangs out (front porch and adjacent yard area). It has proven to be extremely effective when applied every 3 to 4 months during the spring and summer. I highly recommend this product.

I have applied the Bifen IT using a hose end sprayer at the rate of 1.5 ounces per gallon and power sprayed the entire property. Two weeks later I made another application concentrating more heavily on three feet up the side of the house and a three foot band around the house. Using this method and this product seemed to abate my scorpion problem. My plan is to do another application a month after the last which will be in two weeks from now. Last weekend I did find some dead scorpions that were on the perimeter wall and one live one that was very slow. So this seems to be working. I assume if I can control them outside they will not be inside the house. Oh yeah, I did use delta dust in all the crevices and in the attic just in case these were entry points.

I use Bifen IT to control roaches and other insects in my home. It dries clear with no stain or smell and kills many kind of insect invaders . The price is right and I feel safe having it as a indoor insecticide around my family and pets once it is dry. I have found it works very well, and I don't have the cost of a exterminator that probably uses the same insecticide .

This stuff, Bifen IT, works great! We had whitefoot ants here, and I thought they were just going to be part of Florida living. When the little buggers first moved to town even the state entomologists were scratching their heads! One even stated that they were almost IMPOSSIBLE to eradicate! Whoever invented bifenthrin should get a gold medal! Not only are the ants history, but I can't even remember the last time I saw one of our lovely american cockroaches (those beauties are sometimes over 2 inches long!). I only have one complaint: now all my neighbors want me to spray at their homes, too! GREAT PRODUCTS, GREAT PRICES, GREAT SERVICE... thanks to DoMyOwnPestControl!

5 of 5 Stars  Great stuff
By Butch on June 22, 2009
I like this better than Malathion and Sevin. I spray our lawn, perenials, annuals , shrubs, trees, rain gutters, under our deck and foundation with Bifen IT. I'm on a wooded acre and spray as much of my property as I can. I give everything a good wet spray with a hose end sprayer which offers more coverage than a tank sprayer. I spray a few days after a rain when everything is dried out. I've always thought that the rain and moisture breeds mosquitos so that is a good time to spray them. There is no odor. But it's the insect protection that is fantastic. We spend a lot of time outside in the yard and gardens. We also spend a lot of time on our back deck at night. In the past it would be unbearable. This stuff kills bugs dead and keeps killing which seems like weeks at a time. Pesky mosquitos and gnats are history. If you wanna be able to spend time outside and those flying insects are a problem then this is the stuff you need. I just hope the state doesn't outlaw it.

5 of 5 Stars  Better than the others.
By Paxton on June 2, 2009
My uncle told me about this product. Since Diazinon isn't available anymore I had to find something new for the home and the work shop. I have used Bifen IT now for a year and it is a better product than what I used before. We had a time with spiders for awhile but now have them under control. I use it around my trees for ants and in my work shop for spiders. I also use it in my dog kennels and there are no ants or bugs around. It works great at label recommendations in a pump up sprayer.

5 of 5 Stars  Bifen Holds Up To It's Billing
By Alex on August 26, 2009
I was in the pest control industry for eight years and so as an experienced person who has using pesticides such as Demon EC - a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, I have to say that Bifen IT is fantastic. It was recommended by my bother, a pest control operator, to treat a problem I had with carpenter ants. After applying it as directed (1 oz per gallon) I was able to successfully cut down the population to zero. Obviously it will need reapplication since the EPA has regulated that these chemicals be biodegradable but it's certainly worth the effort. You don't need to hire a company to control your pest problems. Buy this product and follow the directions and you'll be delighted with the results.

5 of 5 Stars  Outstanding results on Spiders, mosquitos, ants, fleas/ticks
By Charles on June 18, 2010
I own a campground in Texas, and I have been using Bifen IT for several years. I mix 1 ounce of Bifen IT per gallon of water and spray a fine mist on the lower branches of the trees in the campground (up to 6 feet off the ground). The mist that does not land on the tree branches falls to the ground, so I don't have to spray the ground. I treat the campground once every 6 months, and I have absolutely no problems with any insect. It kills mosquitos and ants almost immediately upon contact, and it takes about 30 seconds to kill spiders. When spiders are sprayed, they usually remain still for 15 seconds. Then they begin to feel the effects of the insecticide and their legs start moving frantically back and forth. At the end of 30 seconds the spider is dead. I'm not talking about little spiders. The spiders we have around here have bodies the size of a golf ball. By the way, I should mention that I add 1/4 cup of Dawn liquid dishwashing soap to 15 gallons of mixed insecticide. The liquid soap helps the insecticide stick to the folage. Excellent product!

5 of 5 Stars  Great Service
By Larry on April 26, 2010
I haven't used Bifen IT yet, but.... this is the same chemical that is in Ortho "Home Defense", that is effective yet non-toxic to animals and people. I have used the Ortho product a lot, including for drywood termites. Using Bifen IT, you can mix up the same solution for a little over $1 a gallon compared to $8 a gallon for the Ortho product. Local professional exterminators use the same chemical for general insect control, both in liquid and granule form. Also, I received good and prompt service from DoMyOwnPestControl.com, and I will be ordering more products from them. Their website encouraged me to tackle my termite project rather than paying very big bucks to the termite companies.

5 of 5 Stars  Works so far
By Brian on June 28, 2010
I started to notice more and more bugs/spiders/ants coming into the house. Rather than paying someone 100+ dollars to do it, I looked into a DIY alternative. Being that the house hasn't been sprayed before, I did 1 oz per gallon. I assumed it was working, as I sprayed I saw spiders running for their lives. I didn't think a spider could move that fast. It's been about a week and I haven't had anything in the house. For the amount it makes and how effective is seemingly is - I would highly recommend this in the best bang for your buck category.

Can Bifen IT be used inside and be as effective for household pest control?
Everything I read pertained to spraying outside. Can Bifen IT be used inside and be as effective for household pest control? We feed and protect birds and some other fun critters that I don't want to hurt...cameleons, rabbits...things that eat from the ground.

A Bifen IT is considered a general use insecticide and is labeled for outside and inside use. It is odorless, and very safe to use around children or pets. The general rule is that while spraying you keep children or pets in another room or outside to play. After about one hour it should be dry and it is perfectly safe to allow kids and/or pets back in the room. This product is only strong enough to kill tiny insects, and would have no effect on animals like rabbits, etc.

How well does this product Bifen IT control chinch bugs in North Fla. ?

A Bifen IT is one of our most popular products for Chinch Bugs. The key is to use lots of water to carry the Bifen IT down to the thatch layer underneath the grass, where the chinch bugs do the damage. Please read the product label for proper use instructions.

Will Bifen IT kill bagworms?

A Yes, Bifen IT is labeled to kill bagworms.  Please read the product label below the picture for specific directions.

Will Bifen IT take care of yellow jackets?
Will Bifen IT take care of yellow jackets? They keep appearing in my basement and I have not located where they are coming from.

A Bifen IT will kill yellow jackets but only if they land on a surface you have treated.  Have you tried looking outside in the morning or early afternoon?  This is when bees are most active and chances are you can see where they are going into your home which usually would be under some siding or through a small opening in brick or around a window.  If you can locate their entry point then it is an easy fix.  Early in the morning or late at night when the bees are not flying around and not active you can apply Tempo Dust into the opening using a hand duster.  If you can locate the entry point, then this treatment will usually kill all of the bees within 24 hours.  Once their is no more activity you want to be sure to close the opening with caulk or some other method so future bees do not try to use the same entry point.

What type of weather should i put the Bifen IT out in? Rainy, cold, hot?

A All of our liquid insecticides including Bifen IT should be applied in dry weather, not rainy weather.  All of the liquid insecticides are made to bond to dry surfaces and will last longer when applied when it is dry and not going to rain for at least 24 hours.  The temperature does not matter as much.  It can be applied in hot or cold weather, but it must be dry and not wet to work at its highest potential.

I want the same roach bait gel that my pest control guy used?
My old pest control guy sprayed, but he also placed gel inside the cabinets where the pipes would go into the wall in the kitchen and the bathrooms - do you have a gel for this, or can I use the granules successfully?

A We do sell professional Roach Bait Gel and Ant Bait Gel.  Follow the links to which ever one you are inquiring about.

Will Bifen IT kill and control grubs in my lawn?
Will Bifen IT kill and control grubs in my lawn? I understand that Bifenthrin is the active ingredient in Scott's GrubEX.

A Yes, Bifen IT which contains bifenthrin as the active ingredient is labeled for grub control. However, Merit (with Imidacloprid) tends to be more effective and is recommended. Try using Merit Granules which is used by many golf courses and other land management associations.

Is Bifen IT safe on fruit trees and vegetable gardens?
Is Bifen IT safe on fruit trees and vegetable gardens? I am concerned about wind drift with direct contact absorption and indirect absorption from the soil.

A Bifen IT is not labeled to apply to fruit bearing trees, vegetable gardens, or any other type of plant that will be harvested or eaten.  You should not apply this product on a windy day where wind drift may be a possibility if fruit trees or vegetables are nearby.  We do carry a product called Malathion 57% that can be applied to fruit bearing trees and vegetables.

Is Bifen IT effective for weevils?
I have a problem with white pine weevils. Is Bifen IT effective for weevils? Is there a better alternative that would be more effective?

A Bifen IT is labeled for "weevils" in general and the active ingredient Bifenthrin is known to be effective for white pine weevils. It is important when using a foliar application that treatments start when adult weevils first start to appear in spring, usually around mid-April. At this time Bifenthrin seems to be the only active ingredient available to homeowners for white pine weevil control. We also suggest you contact your local cooperative extension office for more tips on the best treatment time in your specific area.

Will Bifen IT work against springtails and kill even after it dries?
I had a bad infestation of springtails last year and nothing I tried seemed to work. A few sprays would kill if the springtails were sprayed directly, but nothing had any residual killing affect. Will Bifen IT work against springtails and kill even after it dries?

A Bifen IT would be a good choice and it does leave an active residual. You may need to reapply every month through the season. Springtails can be tough to get rid of because of their large populations in infested areas and the often covered areas where they harbor. Springtails are usually a sign that there is a moisture issue close by. Check all around the outside of your home for built up leaf debris or yard clippings, leaking faucets, mulch that is too damp or other moisture problems. Springtails need a very high level of moisture to survive, so correcting that issue may hel. Here are some helpful articles with lots of hints and tips for springtail elimination: How To Get Rid of Springtails and Springtime and springtails

How many square feet does a pint of Bifen IT cover? What about a quart?

A

The coverage will depend on the type of pest you are treating for and the area that is being treated. Please check the Bifen IT product label to see what concentration and coverage rate your situation calls for. One pint of Bifen IT will make approximately 16-48 gallons of diluted solution and one quart of Bifen IT will make approximately 32-96 of diluted solution. If you need help figuring out the concentration please call customer service at: 866-581-7378

How does Bifen IT compare to Bifen XTS and Permethrin for mosquito control?

A Bifen I/T is our most popular choice for mosquito control.  The Bifen XTS is the same product, just in a higher concentration.  For mosquito control you do not need the higher concentration, it is not necessary.  Bifen I/T would also be a better solution then permethrin because permethrin breaks down quicker in sunlight and the Bifen I/T only needs to be applied every 30 days whereas permethrin would need to be applied every two weeks.  The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs.  You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees around the outside patio or wherever you hang out at around the house.  You should also treat the tree line in your yard near the forest if one exists.  Remember to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves.

How much area will one gallon of bifen mix cover when spraying the yard for mosquitoes?

A Typically one gallon of bifen will cover 1000 square feet, but it all depends on how you apply it.  The key to mosquito control is to treat all bushes, shrubs, and trees in the area and especially paying close attention to treating the underside of the leaves which is where mosquitoes hang out.

I have clover mites. I got rid of them last year with Tempo SC Ultra but they have came back this year.
Demand G controls mites, but does not specify the clover mite. Can you confirm? I also plan on using Bifen It for perimeter of house. Would demand G granules and Bifen IT be a good combo?

A Demand G granules will control clover mites, but our most popular product for clover mites has always been bifenthrin products like the Bifen IT.  Demand G Granules would be a good one, two punch for your yard, but spraying Bifen on the house 2 feet up and 2 feet out and underneath siding will do a better job than anything keeping clover mites away.  Unfortunately these pests seem to come back every year once the moisture comes and the weather gets warm.

Japense Beetles and Spider Mites
I am looking to kill Japanese Beetles and spider mites. Is this the best product?

A Bifen IT is a great product for both of those pests as well as many others.  Bifen IT is one of our most popular products and can be used both indoors and outside.  Just keep in mind that Bifen IT cannot be used on vegetable gardens or fruit bearing trees or anything you plan on eating.
