5 of 5 Stars  Another great product from Domyownpestcontrol.com
By C. in Batavia, IL on July 27, 2011
    Verified Purchase

Bought four bottles of this stuff to control ants, mosquitos, and japanese beetles. 2oz. in a 2 gallon sprayer and presto! No more bugs. Some of the best stuff I ever bought. About to mix up a batch for the hose end sprayer to do my trees and shrubs. VERY confident it'll take down most anything that it comes into contact with. May seem expensive at first, but the premeasure cup takes the guesswork out of the picture and I'll probably have enough for 2-3 years. Try finding something that works so well in ANY store and not only will you be disappointed, but will get something that probably contains less than 0.5% of what this stuff has. I buy ALL my pest control products from Domyownpestcontrol.com and have NEVER been disappointed with any of their products. Highly recommended.

5 of 5 Stars  Still going
By Mark in Albuquerque, NM on February 26, 2011

I live in NM. I purchased the "Bifen XTS" in January. We had a warm Saturday so I mixed and sprayed. Even with the cold weather there were dead roaches the next days. We had 2 weeks of extreme cold weather and snow. Once it started to warm up in the 50 plus temps the roaches were coming out and dropping dead. It continued to stay strong after going through the cold and snow. Good chemical, Irecommend it.

Container makes it easy to accurately measure out the needed amount. The data sheet if fairly easy to follow and this takes the guess work out of the calculating gallons per area of coverage. I used the product for June Bug grubs and it did the job.

5 of 5 Stars  Great stuff
By Kevin on September 18, 2012

Used primarily to control earwings, also takes out lots of other pests since it's broad spectrum. I didn't realize how annoying the crickets climbing up the walls into the under eves were until they were gone. Mixed at maximum label (.12%) to knock down a continuing outdoor Earwig population. The local bifenthin concentrations start at .3% undiluted and you have to mix down from there and would knock out the living population but degrade as more hatched. The XTS oil based seemed like a more durable solution and it's labeled for a higher concentration that seems to be really put the hurt on multiple generations on a single application. Plan on repeating in a few weeks to re-enforce the application, putting an end to this mutli-year problem inherited from prior occupants. Also have Bifen IT water based for indoor and wood to prevent possible staining. PLEASE DO NOT USE ON YOUR FLOWERING PLANTS, this stuff will annihilate your pollinators and the bees have enough things to deal with without chemical warfare.

5 of 5 Stars  Excellent Product
By Jerry in Ragley, LA on May 20, 2011
    Verified Purchase

I purchased Bifen XTS to replace my overpriced local extermination company. They asked over $900 for a five year retreatment plus a $125 a year membership fee and $90 per visit fee four times a year. If this product performs as advertised, I will be hundreds of dollars ahead in no time. After spraying the outside perimeter of my home, I sprayed several Fire Ant mounds. After making my rounds I checked each mound to find that it destroyed the ants completely. I have not seen any new mounds in two weeks. My faith is growing for Bifen XTS.

I have always used the more diluted Bifen and it works as expected, so to use the more concentrated Bifen XTS is the same to me just a different mix. I like the product.

By Bud in Clermont FL on November 18, 2014

This product has worked well for me here in FL. It does have a pretty strong odor when applied so I do not use it indoors. Best for perimeter spraying and targeting bugs outdoors. Do not leave mixed solution in a sprayer as it will gum up the nozzle. Mix and use only what you are going to use immediately. Clean sprayer completely after use.

4 of 5 Stars  Bifen XTS for Fire Ants
By Gary in Shreveport, LA on November 13, 2014
    Verified Purchase

I bought this for fire ant control. It is November so it is the wrong time of year for a thorough test of long term control. I have used it on mounds for spot control and it works very well. My hope is that it will work around perimeter of home and on lawn for long term control and prevention. Next Spring will be the real test.

Since the banned product "Mirex" was removed from the market, I have been very dissatisfied with almost everything I tried on "Fire Ants". This product seems to be working better than anything I have tried in a long tome. After I've used it for a year I'll know better.

5 of 5 Stars  Bifen XTS
By Robert in Montgomery, Al on September 16, 2014
    Verified Purchase

I began in May treating my lawn for sod web worms using a pesticide from a big box garden center. I sprayed the lawn area twice and at 6 week intervals, not the 3 month interval as listed on the package. In late August the brown circular areas of the dead grass eaten by sod web worms started appearing. That is when I decided to "Go Pro" and began using Bifen XTS. I took my time applied liberally and wore protective clothing as recommended. Even though it is too late in the season to prevent the damage done, I will continue to use Bifen XTS as my 'go to' pesticide in the future.

May 23, 2010 Bobby asked:

QWhat is the difference between Bifen XTS and Bifen IT?
I want to use this in a backpack mister/blower for mosquitoes. Will one work better than the other? Also how does this compare to Permethrin SFR?

ABifen I/T is our most popular choice for mosquito control.  The Bifen XTS is the same product, just in a higher concentration.  For mosquito control you do not need the higher concentration, it is not necessary.  Bifen I/T would also be a better solution then permethrin because permethrin breaks down quicker in sunlight and the Bifen I/T only needs to be applied every 30 days whereas permethrin would need to be applied every two weeks.  The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs.  You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees around the outside patio or wherever you hang out at around the house.  You should also treat the tree line in your yard near the forest if one exists.  Remember to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves.

July 6, 2010 Mike asked:

QWill Bifen XTS harm pets?

ANo. Bifen XTS will not harm pets when used as directed on the product label. All pets and people (except for the applicator) should be out of the area while the application is being made, and they can return as soon as the treated area is dry.

March 25, 2013 Adam from Brasnon, Mo asked:

QWhat is the residual time of Bifen XTS & how long will it keep bugs away when sprayed?

ABifen XTS will have a residual of about 4-8 weeks depending on rain and UV rays in the given area. Bifen XTS will not repel insects but instead will kill them within 24 hours of contact.

April 29, 2011 Rob asked:

QHow much Bifen XTS would you use in a 60 gallon spray unit?

AThe proper dilution rate of Bifen XTS is .32 of an ounce per gallon of water.  This works out to be about 19 ounces for 60 gallons of water, or a little more than 1/2 of a quart bottle.

August 14, 2010 Neil asked:

QWill rain after an application of Bifen XTS reduce the effectiveness of the product?
I applied it to my yard. About 45 minutes after I finished the application, it rained(moderate to light) for about an hour. Also, how long does it take to see results. I have a flea problem, and I am trying to eliminate them.

ATypically, Bifen XTS as well as many other liquid insecticides only need about 30 minutes to dry. Once dry, they can hold up to rain rather well.  However, it is much easier for the product to bond to porous surfaces like concrete and siding then grass and your lawn. You may want to apply again just to be safe when there is not rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours. Typically, for fleas it can take a week or two to see results. You should treat every 14 days for fleas. It usually takes at least 2 to 3 treatments since Bifen XTS or any other product will kill the eggs. You need to treat every 14 days, 2 to 3 times, so you make sure the product is strong enough to kill the hatched eggs every 2 weeks.

June 19, 2015 Bob asked:

QCan Bifen XTS be used when temperature exceeds 85?

A We would not recommend using Bifen XTS at temperatures over 85 degrees as this is an oil based product and can burn plants it comes into contact with under extreme heat. We recommend spraying in early morning or late evening.

June 11, 2015 Phyllis from Little Rock, Arkansas asked:

QI just placed an order for Bifen XTS for fleas at my house. Can I use it indoors also?
After I placed the order I saw where the bifen IT is for indoors. Really can't afford both products. I have had to leave my dog at my parents until I can get rid of these fleas so she can come home. I don't want to use the bifen XTS in the house if it will harm my dog. Am hoping to use this product indoors and outdoors (maybe adjust the product/water mixture??) I tried to call you but it was after hours. Thanks.

A No, Bifen XTS is not labeled for indoor use. We would recommend using Onslaught Insecticide with an IGR (insect growth regulator) for indoor use. This can be sprayed in the areas where fleas are present. You will vacuum daily for 14 days and do a second treatment.

June 3, 2015 Patrick from Houston, Texas asked:

QBifen XTS looks to kill the range of insects I want gone - but I'm afraid it might kill beneficial yard critte

A Bifen XTS will kill beneficial insects. We are not aware of a product that will kill harmful insects and not beneficial insects should they come in contact with it.

May 31, 2015 Sue from Mesa Az asked:

QCan I use Bifen XTS on my orange tree that has some bugs and is distressed?

A Bifen XTS should NOT be applied to anything edible including orange trees. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office for a proper identification of the insect and/or disease that is causing the tree distress. Please let us know what you are treating for exactly and we will be able to find you a product that will fit your specific needs.

May 29, 2015 Michael from Long Valley, Nj asked:

QLooking to control deer ticks and mosquitoes in NJ, what are the best products or combinations?

A

Talstar P would be a great choice for indoor and outdoor tick control. We also recommend adding an insect growth regulator such as Archer IGR to Talstar to stop the ticks from being able to mature while you are trying to eliminate the infestation. You will use 1 oz of Talstar +  1oz of Archer IGR per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft area. Do not make spot applications. Treat the entire area where exposure to ticks may occur. Use more water (not more product) when treating areas with dense ground cover or heavy leaf litter. Ticks may be reintroduced from surrounding areas on host animals. Retreatment may be necessary to achieve and/or maintain control during periods of high pest pressure. All of your pets should be treated with a product that is specifically labeled for use on pets for tick control.

You can also help by creating a "tick safe zone" in your yard. You should have an area that is at least 9 ft wide between your yard and any wooded area. Trim back trees to allow as much sunlight as possible into your yard. Keep grass as short. Remove as much leaf litter as possible. A clearly defined, well manicured border between your yard and any wooded areas or weedy lots will reduce the chance of ticks infesting your yard.

Talstar P is also very great for treating mosquitoes. You will make sure to apply a monthly exterior treatment (focusing on the undersides fo the tree leaves). The combination of both Talstar and NyGuard IGR is great for mosquito and tick control. Please let us know if you need anything else.

QI used Bifen XTS in my unfinished garage (no dry wall just studs and joist). Left door and windows open during spraying. And let it air dried for 1 hour afterwards. Was this ok?

A Bifen XTS is only labeled for outdoor use only and is oil based. Please feel free to contact the manufacturer Control Solutions at 281-892-2500 for more information on the application to your garage if it has already been applied.

May 21, 2015 Paul from Paducah, Ky asked:

QIs it okay to use Bifen XTS over an area that was sealed with an oil based sealant?
The underside of our camper is "raw" (unfinished) OSB, so, it cannot be treated / painted with any water base material. I want to "seal" this area and protect it from wood bees. So, the idea is to treat this area with an oil base insecticide, let dry well, then paint it with an oil base sealer or primer. Will low odor paint thinner or mineral spirits affect the pesticide properties of Bifen XTS? Or would a different product be better?

A We recommend applying the sealant on first before performing a treatment with insecticides. When using Bifen XTS it is possible that it will affect the sealant put down prior because of the xylene base in the Bifen XTS product. With the possiblity of Bifen XTS having an affect on the sealant we recommend using Bifen I/T which is water based and has the same active ingredient as Bifen XTS. Bifen I/T as well as Bifen XTS are both highly toxic to bees.

May 17, 2015 Michael from Seekonk,mass. asked:

QWe need a control for winter moth caterpillar on fruit trees. We are located in Massachusetts.

A We do not recommend applying Bifen XTS to edibles. For treating fruit trees for moth caterpillars, we would recommend applying Bonide Fruit Tree Spray. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application times for the fruits on your trees. Please let us know if you need anything else.
