Verified PurchaseBought four bottles of this stuff to control ants, mosquitos, and japanese beetles. 2oz. in a 2 gallon sprayer and presto! No more bugs. Some of the best stuff I ever bought. About to mix up a batch for the hose end sprayer to do my trees and shrubs. VERY confident it'll take down most anything that it comes into contact with. May seem expensive at first, but the premeasure cup takes the guesswork out of the picture and I'll probably have enough for 2-3 years. Try finding something that works so well in ANY store and not only will you be disappointed, but will get something that probably contains less than 0.5% of what this stuff has. Bifent XTS review.

Still going
By Mark on February 26, 2011 Verified PurchaseI live in NM. I purchased the "Bifen XTS" in January. We had a warm Saturday so I mixed and sprayed. Even with the cold weather there were dead roaches the next days. We had 2 weeks of extreme cold weather and snow. Once it started to warm up in the 50 plus temps the roaches were coming out and dropping dead. It continued to stay strong after going through the cold and snow. Good chemical, Irecommend it.

Excellent Product

They asked over $900 for a five year retreatment plus a $125 a year membership fee and $90 per visit fee four times a year. If this product performs as advertised, I will be hundreds of dollars ahead in no time. After spraying the outside perimeter of my home, I sprayed several Fire Ant mounds. After making my rounds I checked each mound to find that it destroyed the ants completely. I have not seen any new mounds in two weeks. My faith is growing for Bifen XTS.

It takes a very small amount of the concentrate to make the correct mixture, I have used it for fire ant control in my yard and as a pest control in a storage building and have gotten great result both times. Bifen is best

I spray a three foot perimeter in the lawn as well as three feet of the exterior walls and we have never had a problem since with bi-monthly applications. I've also noticed a collection of Earwigs and other small and even some flying insects on calm nights. I like the product a lot and so do our residents! Thank-You!

Great stuff
By Kevin on September 18, 2012Used primarily to control earwings, also takes out lots of other pests since it's broad spectrum. I didn't realize how annoying the crickets climbing up the walls into the under eves were until they were gone. Mixed at maximum label (.12%) to knock down a continuing outdoor Earwig population. The local bifenthin concentrations start at .3% undiluted and you have to mix down from there and would knock out the living population but degrade as more hatched. The XTS oil based seemed like a more durable solution and it's labeled for a higher concentration that seems to be really put the hurt on multiple generations on a single application. Plan on repeating in a few weeks to re-enforce the application, putting an end to this mutli-year problem inherited from prior occupants. Also have Bifen IT water based for indoor and wood to prevent possible staining. PLEASE DO NOT USE ON YOUR FLOWERING PLANTS, this stuff will annihilate your pollinators and the bees have enough things to deal with without chemical warfare.

I previously used Ortho Home Defense to combat the major exterior ant problem (which was making its way inside), but could not successfully minimize the population. I even had a "professional" pest control company spray, and this yielded no results. I purchased and have used this product twice in flower beds, the home perimeter, and anywhere I see ant piles and the colonies have subsided dramatically. I plan to treat my lawn with the granules next month for thorough coverage. Fantastic product!

ABifen I/T is our most popular choice for mosquito control. The Bifen XTS is the same product, just in a higher concentration. For mosquito control you do not need the higher concentration, it is not necessary. Bifen I/T would also be a better solution then permethrin because permethrin breaks down quicker in sunlight and the Bifen I/T only needs to be applied every 30 days whereas permethrin would need to be applied every two weeks. The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs. You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees around the outside patio or wherever you hang out at around the house. You should also treat the tree line in your yard near the forest if one exists. Remember to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves.

I applied it to my yard. About 45 minutes after I finished the application, it rained(moderate to light) for about an hour. Also, how long does it take to see results. I have a flea problem, and I am trying to eliminate them.
ATypically, Bifen XTS as well as many other liquid insecticides only need about 30 minutes to dry. Once dry, they can hold up to rain rather well. However, it is much easier for the product to bond to porous surfaces like concrete and siding then grass and your lawn. You may want to apply again just to be safe when there is not rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours. Typically, for fleas it can take a week or two to see results. You should treat every 14 days for fleas. It usually takes at least 2 to 3 treatments since Bifen XTS or any other product will kill the eggs. You need to treat every 14 days, 2 to 3 times, so you make sure the product is strong enough to kill the hatched eggs every 2 weeks.

AHose end sprayers are not the most accurate so for your application a hand pump sprayer would be much more preferred. At no time should you go "spray happy" with a rate at anything other than the label suggests. According to the label, for Spider Mites on ornamentals, you would use .38 -1.28 ounces per every 10 gallons of water. The Bifen IT would be better for your needs than the Bifen XTS as spider mites are not its main usage and is a much higher rate of the active ingredient, therefore causing you to have to dilute much further down for your needs. If your sprayer dial has options for teaspoons per gallon as well as ounces, and you can select an option for 2.5 teaspoons per gallon then your hose end sprayer can be used. Other wise you will need to change your application rate. Please look back over the product label for the product you purchased.

ABifen XTS will help kill spiders in the area but it can take 24-48 hours for spiders to die after they come into contact with the product and in that time they can form webs. We do carry WebOut Cobweb Eliminator which can help to help prevent the formation of new webs. We do recommend you use a really good insecticide such as the Bifen XTS around the base of the structure to help eliminate the spiders and the Webout in places where you need to discourage web formation for the best results.

AWhen treating for mountain pine beetles the product label recommends using 2.0 pints of product per 100 gallons of water. If you only need to mix 2 gallons at a time you will 0.64 oz of Bifen XTS diluted in 2 gallons of water. Treat the main trunk from the base of the tree to at least halfway into the live crown spraying the tree directly and until the bark is completely wet (usually 1 to 4 gallons of spray per tree). Be sure to read the Bifen XTS product label for complete usage instructions.
