    Is Bonide Captan Fungicide safe/effective for tomatoes ?
    For early/late blight
    A
    The Bonide Captan Fungicide is not labeled to be applied to Tomatoes so we cannot  recommend it for this use.  Mancozeb Floweable with Zinc Concentrate is a product that is though.

    Can the Bonide Captan Fungicide control apple scab on crab apple trees?
    My 25 year old crab apple tree has a serious case of apple scab. Can your product help?

    Yes the Bonide Captan will control scab on apples. Here are the insructions per the Product Lable on how to treat for scab on your crab apples.

    Primary scab, black rot (frogeye), botrytis blossom-
    end-rot
    – Use 1½ Tbs. per gal. of water. Apply in
    prebloom, bloom, petal fall and first cover sprays at 10
    to 14 day intervals.
    Brooks fruit spot, sooty blotch, fly
    speck, black rot, black pox, botryosphaeria rot, bitter
    rot
    – Use 1½ Tbs. per gal. of water. Apply in second
    and late cover sprays at 10 to 14 day intervals. May be
    applied up to harvest.
    Note:
    Do not apply this product
    with or closely following, or in alternation with wettable
    sulfur products on sulfur-sensitive varieties of apples
    such as Baldwin, King, Red Delicious, Staymen, etc.
    as severe injury and defoliation may occur.

    Is Captan safe for use around Bees and pets?
    I saw what looks like Black Rot on my Concord Grapes last fall. I am looking for a solution-but don't want to harm my Dogs or the pollinators.

    Bonide Captan Fungicide can be toxic to bees. We recommend to apply when bees are less active.

    Can Bonide Captan Fungicide be used with Bonide Liquid Copper Fungicide Concentrate?
    Or use them separately

    Per the manufacturer, it is not suggested to mix Bonide Captan Fungicide and Bonide Liquid Copper Fungicide Concentrate together. If you, in fact, need to use both products the manufacturer recommends 48 hours between applications.

    25 gal weed sprayer for rust on grass

    Bonide Captan is not labeled to be applied to lawns. Honor Guard PPZ would be a better alternative for rust on grass.

    Can this be applied to young plant
    My plant come up and now they ar losing their leaves

    Yes the Captan Fungicide can be used on plants when they are in the young/new stages. Please refer to the product label for best times to apply and reapplication intervals for what specific plant you are treating on and for which disease. If you are unsure, you can contact Bonide at 1-800-536-8231.

    Will Bonide Captan Fungicide treat bitter rot in cherries?
    A

    Bonide Captan Fungicide is labeled to control brown rot, leaf spot, botrytis rot and blossom blight on cherries.  Bonide Copper Fungicide appears to be a better option for this disease.

    Will Bonide Captan control Pecan scab?
    A

    Bonide Captan Fungicide is not specifically labeled for pecan scab. We suggest Fruit Tree and Plant Guard Concentrate? . It is one of many great products we carry for scab on pecan trees and should do a great job for you when used as directed on the product label.

    Can Bonide Captan be used on a pear tree and can the pears be consumed?

    It is not recommended to apply Bonide Captan Fungicide as pears are not listed on the product label. Please provide the targeted pest for an alternate recommendation. Thank you!

    Will Captan work in getting rid of Phytophthora blight on Peoneys
    A
    Bonide Captin Fungicide is not labeled for Phytophthora blight so we would not recommend it for this use.  Bonide Mancozeb Flowable with Zinc Concentrate seems to be a product that others have had success with but this blight is normally treated non-chemically by avoiding planting in wet or poorly drained areas. Remove and destroy infected plants.

    Bonide Captan Fungicide is not labeled for Red Stele Root Rot.  We would recommend contacting your master gardener from your local county extension office.  Please read this article for more information on this fungus.

    How many times can Bonide Captan Fungicide be applied per season to an apple tree and why?

    The product label of Bonide Captan does not specify a maximum amount of applications per season. For more information on the reasoning, you may contact the manufacturer (Bonide) directly at 315-736-8231 as they will be an expert on their own product.

    Per the product label, "Apples (Eastern U.S.) Primary scab, black rot (frogeye), botrytis blossom-end-rot - Use 1 1/2 Tbs. per gal. of water. Apply in prebloom, bloom, petal fall and first cover sprays at 10 to 14 day intervals. Brooks fruit spot, sooty blotch, fly speck, black rot, black pox, botryosphaeria rot, bitter rot - Use 1 1/2 Tbs. per gal. of water. Apply in second and late cover sprays 10 to 14 day intervals. May be applied up to harvest. Note: Do not apply this product with or closely following, or in alternation with wettable sulfur products on sulfer-sensitive varieties of apples such as Baldwin, Kind, Red Delicious, Staymen, etc. as severe injury and defoliation may occur.

    Apples (Western U.S.) Primary scab - Use 1 to 1 1/2 Tbs. per gal. of water. For secondary scab in mid-summer coverage spray - Use 1 Tbs. per gal. of water. (Pacific Northwest): Bull's eye rot, botrytis rot - Use 1 Tbs. per gal. of water. Make 1 or 2 applications with late cover sprays and 1 final spray prior to harvest. May be applied up to harvest. Not for use on apples in California.
