Details

This contains TRIMEC turf herbicide, a combination of three proven weed killers 2,4-D, mecoprop-p and dicamba. Together they control a wide range of broadleaf lawn weeds.

Use to “spot-treat” weeds in the lawn. For best results, apply when weeds are actively growing. Do not water within 24 hours after spraying. Use as is. Do not mix. Do not dilute. Aim at weed and spray. Only a short burst is needed. Overspraying only wastes the product and may cause damage to grasses such as centipedegrass, St. Augustinegrass, and Floratam. Effects begin to show after a few days and weeds gradually die. Up to 4 weeks may be required for complete kill. Repeat in 30 days if necessary. The number of spot treatments is limited to 2 per year.

Good stuff (worked within ten days) , just a bit expensive so make sure that you are specific in your spraying so as not to waste the product.

Plant looked sickly within 1 day. Rainfall no doubt slowed final death of plant. Sure wish it was cheaper, I have lots of poison ivy!

Q
Will Scythe kill English Ivy?

I have a vast amount that nothing seems to kill. There are perennials in the area.

A

With English ivy, because it of the waxy leaves, we do recommend a brush killer. It is possible that it could kill the perennials if you are not spraying carefully. You will need to do a spot treatment with Bonide Poison Ivy and Brush Killer. Also, this product is for use on Bluegrass, Fesue, Rye, Bent, Bermuda, Bahia and Zoysia Lawns. Avoid application to St. Augustine or centipede lawns unless injury can be tolerated. Do not spray Carpet grass, Dichondra or desirable clovers. May cause temporary yellowing of some Bermudagrass turf. Do not exceed specified dosages for any area. Be particularly careful applying within the drip line of trees and other ornamental species. Avoid contact with exposed feeder roots of ornamentals and trees.

Q
Will Bonide Poison Oak & Ivy Killer RTU kill ivy growing in flower beds?

I have spot sprayed the exposed leaves with Roundup Pro but it just keeps returning. Is there anything I can spray on the ornamentals that will kill the ivy but not the ornamentals

A

Unfortunately, post-emergent herbicides that will kill the poison ivy effectively would likely also damage the flowers. It would probably be best to cut as much of the ivy as possible and then yes, spot treat with a vine killer such as Bonide Poison Ivy and Oak Killer RTU or Bonide Poison Ivy Brush Killer BK32 Concentrate.

Bonide Poison Ivy and Oak Killer RTU is safe as long as you follow all proper instructions per product label. Pets and children should not be around during application and it is safe to come back once everything has dried.
