Product Overview

Weed Beater Complete is a selective post-emergence and pre-emergence herbicide for control of annual grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds on residential lawns. It works by neutralizing acid content, this systematic and methodical action from the roots up and the leaves down disrupts photosynthesis and represses cell division. It also works evenly well on warm and cool season grasses making it a cost-efficient choice. This solvent-free formula has a stronger alkalinity due to a higher concentration, emits no foul ammonia odor and is low foaming.

    Not what I hoped for

    By Michael on 06/23/2018

    Verified Purchase

To give an honest review I used this product 3 times in the past year- last fall, pre-emergent, this spring, pre-emergent and 2 weeks ago post emergent and the results are mixed. It did control some crabgrass, but many of the other weeds advertised as being controlled are actively growing, especially white clover. I had to then purchase Triad and spot spray large areas to kill them. Will buy another product to use in the fall.

Q
When is the best time to apply Bonide Weed Beater Complete?

We just moved to upstate WA and have ALOT of clover we can't seem to get rid of. Want to prevent this clover from rearing its ugly head next year. What is best to prevent it and when to apply and any recommendation for killing what we have now? Tried weed killer for lawns but it didn't kill the clover.

A

Bonide Weed Beater Complete would not be a product to use for preventing clover, only in killing it as a post-emergent.  Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery would be good for preventing many types of clover.  For post-emergent control, it is best to treat clover in the spring before temperatures reach 80 degrees or higher.  Depending on your grass type, Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide would be a good product to use and is safe for most cool season lawns.  Please refer to the product label to confirm your grass type is listed as tolerant.

Application timing for pre-emergents will vary by region and the best person to ask about application timing is your local master gardener who works at your local cooperative extension office.
