Boracare hardened inside the container

I received my Boracare in June and mixed a quart of the solution according to the instructions. After pouring 1/2 quart of the solution in a mixing bucket I tightened the lid and stored away. I went to mix some more 14 weeks later and 80% of the Boracare had hardened inside the original container (no water had been added). Needless to say I am very upset due to the cost of this product, which is now unusable. Why did this happen and what am I supposed to do now?
