"Wow. If I could design the optimum website and build the best possible customer service model, this would be my benchmark. I live by the Internet, research extensively, pay a grain of salt to much and thus focus only on the narrow band of "trusted" resources and information. DoMyOwn has become a top..."

Camel Cricket (Cave Cricket & Spider Cricket) Control

The Camel Cricket, also known as the Cave Cricket and the Spider Cricket, is one of the more annoying pests that can invade your home. Camel Crickets can be found in virtually any region of the country, and are known to exist in all 50 states. They are closely related to other types of crickets. However, they are more likely than their counterparts to enter your home and cause an infestation. The fact is that they often do not mean to come into a house like other pests such as rats and roaches, but rather find themselves accidentally entering a dwelling.

Once inside, Camel Crickets will seek out dark and damp areas such as basements, garages, and bathroom cabinets. Because they are more likely to breed inside than out, their numbers can quickly swell and create a large infestation.

Here at Do My Own Pest Control you’re sure to find all the products you will need as well as free expert advice on how to get rid of Camel Crickets.

How Are Camel Crickets Different From Other Crickets?

For one, they are far more likely to enter a home and present a nuisance. Most other crickets are content to remain outside and are incredibly unlikely to breed if one finds its way into your home. This makes them a very small threat when it comes to infestation. Cave or Spider Crickets, however, are much more at home inside human dwellings. This is especially true if there are damp and dark areas for them to hide in.

How To Get Rid Of Camel Crickets

1.    Take Away Their Hiding Places

First, eliminate whatever shelter and food they might have available to them, to the best of your ability. This means trying to reduce the level of dampness and dark in whatever region they are nesting. To do this, you will want to fix any pipes that might be leaking and think about installing better lighting in basements and similar areas.

Also, you will want to be sure and clean up any food particles that might be sustaining an infestation. Cleaning up this food can be challenging because the cave crickets do not need much to survive on. However, it is important to cut off all sources of food.

2.    Treat Them With Pesticides

This is one of the easiest and most effective ways to get rid of these pests. There are several different brands of pesticides that will be very effective in getting rid of Cave Crickets. Most of these are based around the pyrethroid family of insecticides and are very safe to use in the home, even around small children and pets. You should of course be sure to follow all manufacturers’ instructions on their use and feel free to call or e-mail us with any questions or concerns you might have.
