Karl from Tucson, Arizona writes

Can a relatively large enclosed space be treated with Nuvan ProStrips?

I have a bed chamber, a room the size of a queen size mattress plus a few inches and about an 8ft ceiling height. (Real ceiling, not drop ceiling) It has a very low level bedbug infestation. (Saw and killed only 8 living BBs, including nymphs, during the cleaning) I already have the bed encasements and will be applying them shortly. I also have silica gel dust to apply in the area afterward. Once I do those things can I seal up the one vent and the doorway with plastic sheeting and tape, and toss in a nuvan strip (or two) to gas the enclosed space?

Answer:

Nuvan ProStrips should not be used in regular living areas such as bedrooms, living rooms, etc. Even when we are treating smaller enclosed spaces with the Nuvan ProStrips, you should leave the items in the treatment area with the strips for at least 2 weeks for bed bug treatments. You should focus your treatment, instead, on direct crack and crevice treatment with sprays and dusts approved for this use. You can learn more in our Bed Bug Treatment Guide. Our Bed Bug Kits contain products recommended for this treatment.
