Carpenter Ant Kit #1

The Carpenter Ant Kit #1 combines Advance Carpenter ant bait with Maxforce carpenter ant gel for treating carpenter ant infestations in and around homes and offices. Both baits work together to eliminate the carpenter ant colony. Certain carpenter ants may take better to one bait than the other, giving you a greater chance of bait acceptance and effectiveness. In addition, the Maxforce gel is more versatile in where you can place it -- using the syringe it would be possible to bait in holes, cracks, and ceilings or areas where it may be more difficult to place the Advance granular bait. The Advance Carpenter Ant Bait is great for sprinkling in a 2 foot barrier around the outside of your home to provide a food source that outside ants are looking for. It can also be applied around wood piles, trees, stumps, or other areas of harborage. Advance Carpenter ant bait can also be used indoors in bait plate stations. The Maxforce Carpenter ant bait is for indoor control only and should be placed where you see ant activity inside. The ants will eat the bait and take it back to the nest spreading it around to the other colony members.

I just cannot believe the results, it is AMAZING.... the big black Carpenter ants that have been haunting me in my own home for years every spring for sweets and then every fall for proteins are GONE and it is seriously only the second day since I have put the gel and granular bait out. If you want effective ant bait/killer then this Carpenter Ant Kit #1 is exactly what you need. There are so many different ways to use it from tiny cracks to large areas around the outside or underneath your home. This stuff will do the trick hands down. No need to pay an exterminator high monthly rates, just buy this, go by the instructions and you will be on your way to an ant free life, it is just amazing. THANKS GUYS!!!

5 of 5 Stars  Carpenter Ant Kit

We live in a log home in the woods and have had a problem with Carpenter Ants for at least 2 years. I ordered the Carpenter Ant Kit #1 and my husband sprinkled the granules along the foundation and I put the gel into a spot where we saw the ants most. He put down the granules over 2 weeks ago and we have not seen ONE ant since inside our home. It's like a miracle. We had tried all types of ant repellent and killer without success.

    5 of 5 Stars  Finally, a Solution!
By Steve on May 5, 2010

I have been battling some carpenter ants on my porch the last couple years, but only with the generic ant spray one can buy at the local home improvement stores. The ants damaged some exterior wood such that rain water leaks in during a good downpour, and I'd like my porch to be as dry as I can get it. When the weather started to get warmer, I decided to look for something more effective with them that can knock out the colony, thus the ant bait. On a nice day, I put a 1-foot wide border around the porch, as well as my wood pile and a big maple tree in the backyard. Then, I just watched the ants that were scavenging around. They would walk past a couple pieces of bait, but then grab one and haul it back to the porch; the whole process left me smiling! Within a couple days, I would see maybe one or 2 ants on the exterior, but they seemed to be on their way to ant heaven, even the little black ants I just figured would be hanging around anyways. So far, I'm very happy with this product, and haven't gotten around to using the gel bait yet since the dry bait has been so effective. I would definitely buy this kit again!

5 of 5 Stars  Spendy but well worth the cost, highly effective.
By Doug on April 18, 2010

I had 3 galleries in my soffits for the last several years and the products from the big box hardware stores just had the ants moving around to avoid the poison. I used the gel first and the ants dove in and started consuming it immediately. I put some on a tree root by an ant trail and it soaked in to the bark. The next day I checked the spot and the ants ate the bait AND the bark that it soaked into. By the 3rd day I could not find an ant anywhere. My neighbor had a worse problem than I and we tried out the granules. I put a 1/4 teaspoonful on an ant trail and in 15 minutes you could see the granules streaming up the front of his house into his soffits and within 2 days we could not find ANY ants.

I have had this carpenter ant problem for 3 seasons now and the retail sprays and powders worked only for the moment. I know I needed a bait program to kill off the nest. I finally came across your site and look-you have everything in a kit! I ordered it and the kit was here by the end of the week. It took only a few minutes to set up my traps( I ordered the bait traps too). The instructions say you will have a rush of ants for a few days, (because of the attraction to the sweet bait/gel) and I did! That was good, as lots of bait went back to the nest. Now I see nothing. So happy to have found a product(s) made for specifically for carpenter ants!!

By Scott on April 6, 2013

Surrounded my foundation with the granules. Placed both liquid and and granular bait throughout house. It has been a month and zero impact. I've noticed zero carpenter ant activity around the traps. The ants have no interest whatsoever in this bait. Given my experience, I must wonder about the legitimacy of the rave reviews I've read here. I've been had...save your money.

4 of 5 Stars  Worked different than I expected.
By Gene on October 7, 2012

I laid out some of the granules and a very few were picked up. I also set out the gel and the ants mostly left it alone after checking it out. Another reviewer mentioned cutting up crickets and dipping them in the gel. After no obvious results after 3 days I hand killed 4-8 ants per night for a week and dipped them in the gel. They were always gone in the morning and the number of ants kept dwindling. It seems nothing is more attractive to them than a dead insect carcass. Finally after 10 days all the ants are gone.

3 of 5 Stars  Carpenter Ant Kit #1
By Susan on September 11, 2012

We had Carpenter Ants overtaking our kitchen. We tried TERRO ant killer with little success for about 2 weeks. After baiting with MAXFORCE JEL they were gone in about a week. The ants paid little attention to the ADVANCE granules. If out problem ever returns I would try the JEL 1st. After all this kit is not cheap but much less than a exterminator. I would give the MAXFORCE a 5 Star.

By Brian on August 1, 2012

Honestly, within seconds of putting down the dry bait and the gel, carpenter ants were coming in droves. I even took pictures of it. We used to see about 20 ants a day in our home....not one has been seen since the bait went down. My neighbor told me this morning that he thinks I took care of his ant problem too!! This product works. I've tried the stuff you buy at Lowes/Home Depot...don't waste your money, it never did anything.

1 of 5 Stars  Choose Taurus SC Instead
By Alan on June 25, 2012

Used this kit last year and still had ant problem. Chose Taurus SC this year instead (it's listed in the menu under "Termites"). I was skeptical, but desperate. With one application of Taurus SC around the perimeter of my house, the ants were gone. Like magic.

5 of 5 Stars  Works as advertised!
By Tony on June 25, 2012

I used both the outside powder and the inside gel. The ants were drawn to gel instantly and were completely gone in a couple days. I also used the outdoor powder as a barrier around my garden since ants were eating on my okra. Obviously, use it on outside of garden away from veggies.

5 of 5 Stars  Worked well
By Neil on June 5, 2012

Very satisfied, ants established in attic foam insulation, accessing home via phone and cable lines from utility pole. Carpenter ants were instantly attracted to bait and carried it to colony, tipping off their location and entry point. Worked within a couple of days, majority of ant traffic halted in one day. They liked both types of bait in the kit.

May 21, 2010Gene asked:

QCan I kill carpenter ants with a fogger?
The ants are up in the roof rafters under insulation and behind the siding.

ANo, fogging will not penetrate into the wall where the carpenter ants are hiding.  Unless you are going to tear into the wall where they are, your only option would be to bait the colony.  Carpenter ant bait is a food type product that you place where you see carpenter ant activity.  The ants will eat the bait, and bring it back to the colony where they will feed it to the queen and the rest of the colony and kill them at the source.  We would recommend our carpenter ant kit which comes with bait.

July 20, 2011Lisa asked:

QHave "sawdust" looking particles on floor under a ceiling beam, along with ants. Not termites. What is best?
These are definitely not termites. A couple of years ago had the same problem and bought some crack and crevice spray and that seemed to take care of it. Ordered the Invader spray from you and received and used it yesterday. Wondering if this is the best products for ant infestation. Not sure what kind of ants these are and I don't see a lot of them. They look like regular black ants. I had an issue with flying ants a few months ago. My husband thinks the "sawdust" looks like insulation.

AYou have carpenter ants. Carpenter ants leave sawdust piles and there will usually be small black pieces in the saw dust which is actually dead ant parts.  This means you have a carpenter ant nest in your ceiling.  Carpenter ants typically nest where you have had moisture damage, maybe from a roof leak in the past.  To treat this area you need to find where the hole is they are kicking out the sawdust and treat that area directly, or you can use our carpenter ant kit which is a food and at night when they are most active the ants will eat the bait, take it back to their colony, and it will kill the colony at the source.

July 12, 2011George asked:

QDon't bite the granules, ignore the liquid bait... What to do next?
I have discovered a newly established nest(s) of carpenter ants in the soil of the yard (they moved from the neighbor's yard couple of weeks ago - I caught them when they were transporting the eggs). I sprinkled the granules (past weekend) around the nest entrance, but they had very little to no interest. I put some liquid MaxForce bait in the bait station - no interest whatsoever. I even sprayed them with Dominion 2L when they were moving their eggs (about 2-3 weeks ago). So far, they feel very comfortable where they are. Although I have seen some dead ant bodies that ants carry back to the nest(s), nothing else changed. Any suggestions please?

AWe recommend that you do a complete perimeter treatment with the Dominion 2L. Dominion 2L can take 3-4 weeks to kill off an entire ant colony but if the ants come into contact with the treated area it will eventually kill them. Treating with Dominion 2L eliminates the need for the ants to accept baits. There are certain species of ants that do not readily accept bait and you may have misidentified the ants you are seeing as Carpenter Ants. There are certain species that develop what is known as trophic eggs and that is what is fed to nest-mates and there are other species that more or less farm aphids and they consume the honeydew that is produced by the aphids.

May 30, 2011Thomas asked:

QI have used MaxForce and Advance for Carpenter Ant control. How long before I see results?
I have used as directed, and spread around the perimeter of the house, and applied heavier in areas where I see them leaving and entering the home. I have also treated indoor areas. I noticed a marked decrease in activity around the house entrance points, and then the ants are busy disposing of the bait. Inside the activity has increased. How long before I should notice a difference and is there something else I should or could use?

AThe amount of time that it takes to see results when you are baiting is completely dependant on a few factors, the most important of them being the size of the colony.  The bigger the colony, the more ants there are in it, and the longer it will take for the bait to be fed to all of the ants.  Depending on the colony size, it can take a few days to a few weeks.  As long as they are taking the bait, it will work.  You should continue to reapply the bait as long as they are depleting it.  Seeing an increase inside is not uncommon and usually you will see a huge decrease after you see an increase.  The key is to keep the bait readily available for them where you see the activity.

August 30, 2009Agnes asked:

QIs Advance Carpenter Ant Bait harmful to trees?
I want to use the Carpenter Ant Kit to treat a Cedar Elm in my yard that has a serious infestation. 1. Will it be harmful to the tree?, 2. Will it cause the ants to move to my house (the Cedar Elm is close to my house, though branches have been cut back from the house) or another tree?

AThe Carpenter Ant Kit #1 consists of baits that the Carpenter Ants will eat and take back to their nest.  They will then feed the bait to the queen and the other colony members and in turn the product will kill all of the ants in the colony.  This is important because once the colony is eliminated, you will not have to battle them again.  That being said, these baits are very safe and completely harmless to trees or plant life outside.  The ants will not move to another location or to your house.  These products are a bait that the carpenter ants are attracted to and will want to eat, so it will not cause them to move away from it.  Follow the instructions on the packaging.

June 7, 2010Dan asked:

QAre either of the products in the carpenter ant bait #1 harmful to humans?
My wife has asthma. Odors make it worse. I understand that Advance is used out of doors, so we are less concerned about that product. Are there gases released from the Max Force Product (I think used indoors) that we should be concerned about? I did not see an MSDS for either product.

AThe Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel is very useful in situations where spray applications would not be acceptable because you are not putting a chemical into the air. But, because every person is a bit different and could possibly be sensitive to different substances, we always recommend checking with a physician in cases where severe health issues exist. Both the Advance Carpenter Ant Granule and the Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel products labels and MSDS can be found on our website. These documaents can be found on the individual product pages (beneath the product picture) and on the Carpenter Ant Bait Kit #1 page (scroll down to the product information).
