Verified PurchaseProduct was received quickly. I made the mistake of spraying the week before with a broad based killing spray, so the ant trails I was used to seeing were vacant. Once they were re established, I put the bait down, and used the Max Force in the entry points. A few days later, the ants were starting to drop by the dozens. I cannot say for sure which product is more effective, but I think Max Force, as I did not see them carry the "Advance" bait granules. This is a good system, especially the efficacy of the baits.

carpenter ant hell
By Joe on September 2, 2012I purchased the kit to try and stop carpenter ants that were tunneling through the foam backing on Drivit. They deposited piles of chewed foam a day in my garage. I sprayed with everything Home Depot had and they were back at it in 2 or 3 days. I bought the kit and sprayed the Dominion up the walls and along the stem wall around the garage. I sprinkled the dry bait and inserted the gel bait into cracks where they were traveling. Day 1 nothing, 2 nothing, 3 nothing, 4 they started eating the gel bait, day 5 still eating gel bait. Day 6 dead ants and no activity anywhere to be found. They liked the gel not the dry bait. They appear to be gone. I have fought them for 2 years and finially believe I have won.

Seems to have done the trick

By Matt on June 22, 2011 Verified PurchaseI've only used the baits so far, holding off on the pesticide to avoid driving the ants from the bait. It's been out for about two weeks and there are very few of them left (might even be scouts from other colonies, very common here). There are still a few, but I suspect we actually had several nests, including a very large one in a dying tree near the house, so I had to re-bait a few times to target different colonies. I would definitely recommend keeping some bait in reserve (vs putting it all out at first) so you can see where they're collecting from and resupply those spots.

Great!
By Gary on August 14, 2012We had a professional exterminator (this was his side gig) who used to come to our home once a year with this "professional stuff" and charged us 100.00 for the treatment. He worked for one of the well known companies who would have normally charged 1000.00 (for a yr contract) to apply the same stuff. Ants and such are only active in the warmer months, so all other visits would have been "just for show". I used the syringe at the opening where I saw the carpenter ants coming in and I haven't seen them since their "feast" on the poison. Use common sense and keep this your secret...before the Government/State Liberals decide to ban this from the average consumer. This kit gives me enough "juice" to protect my home for several years; I think it might expire before I use it all up. It's a very wise investment and something we need to do. Fast delivery and a nice company to deal with. Amen ;)

Very impressed. So far, this is a great product
By Ralph on August 21, 2012I removed an old non-functioning hot tub and the surrounding deck, and uncovered tons of Carpenter ants. I sprayed them with basic stuff available at hardware stores...however, they moved into my house. I had 3 quotes from pest control companies, all around $600 to take care of the problem. To my surprise, none of them drill holes into the walls anymore..they all just spray around the outside of the house....Well, heck, I can do that! So I purchased the above kit and so far things are working great. Don't get me wrong, it is a bit of work. You have to dig a trench around your house (I used the wide blade side of a standard fireman's pick axe) and then you need to use some kind of stick ( I used a metal plant stake) to poke deeper holes into your trench to saturate the dominion spray into the ground. But it does seem to be working. The maxforce tube (for indoor cracks in walls) and the Advance bait is much easier to apply. All in all, I am finding a few dead ants that are obviously tracking through this stuff and no more piles of sawdust, so it appears to be working great (it's been about 3 weeks). I would definitely recommend this product. As an added bonus, the Dominion spray outside seems to be cutting down on other non-carpenter ants as well, so my deck is much more enjoyable to sit on.

The granules...in the advanced product...what if they are inhaled? I notice when pouring out anything powdery or granular that particles end up in the air. If you need a mask...what kind?
AIn most cases you can just use basic precautions such as wearing gloves or washing your hands after handling any insecticides, open the containers outdoors with the containers facing away from you and always read and follow the application instructions. People that are more sensitive (asthma, allergies...) should wear dust masks when handling the dust. We have also put together a Basic Safety Kit that comes with:Tyvek Coveralls, Goggles, N95 Masks that filter 95% of water-based aerosol particles and 95% of dust particles in the air, Pair of Nitrile Chemical resistant gloves

AAll of the products in the Carpenter Ant Kit 2 are safe to use in a home with pets and children as long as you follow the product labels. Be sure all pets and children are out of the area when applying the Dominion and let the application dry before they return to the treated area. Baits should be applied in areas that are inaccessible to pets and children indoors and as specified on the product label outdoors. I see the Carpenter ant kit #2 comes with Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate. In the kit description it says the Dominion is for ants, but then in the dominion description is says termites. Am I missing something?
ADominion is a termiticide/insecticide. It is labeled for both termites and ants, as well as treatment of many other insects. Since termites and ants are both social insects that live in colonies and have very similar behaviors, most all termiticides are very good at treating ants also.

AAs long as the Dominion 2L has had 12-24 hours to dry after the application you should have any problem with rain washing it away.
