Q
Will Catt Plex harm the fish population in our pond?

We have bass, crappie, sunfish, and perch in our pond.

A
Catt Plex is completely safe for people, pets, livestock, fish, birds, irrigation, consumption, and swimming. It is recommended to follow the label instructions prior to applying. You will NOT want to treat the entire pond at once because this will cause oxygen depletion and may kill the aquatic life. Treat 1/2 of the pond and wait two weeks and then treat the remainder.

Q
Does Catt Plex kill to the root, or just the vegetation above the water?

Is this a permanent fix or is it an annual application that needs applied annually?

A

Per the General Use Info on the Catt Plex product label: This product moves through the plant from the point of foliage contact to and into the root system. Visible effects on most annual weeds occur within 2 to 4 days but on most perennial brush species may not occur for 7 days or more. Extremely cool or cloudy weather following treatment may slow the activity of this product and delay visual effects of control. Visible effects are a gradual wilting and yellowing of the plant that advances to complete browning of aboveground growth and deterioration of underground plant parts.

This product will not prevent new growth in the soil or water so you would need to reapply as new plants come up, however it will completely kill a plant you spray it directly on.

Q
The Catt Plex label mentions using a surfactant, what is a surfactant?
A

Surfactants are "sticking agents" that help herbicides stick to the target weeds. Using a surfactant will help with better coverage and faster burndown. The Catt Plex label recommends using a non-ionic surfactant such as Southern Ag Non-Ionic Surfactant.
