QI am applying Certainty Herbicides and the instructions indicate I need Non-ionic surfactant. What would be an example of that?
Hello - I will be applying this to my bluegrass lawn. The instructions say to mix in a nonionic surfactant. What would be an example of that?
AWe offer DyneAmic Surfactant on our website. DyneAmic is a high quality non-ionic surfactant that greatly enhances the effectiveness of Certainty and other Herbicides and Fungicides on lawns, ornamentals, trees and landscape areas. The surfactant helps penetrate the natural waxy tissue of plants.
May 12, 2011Pete asked:
QHow soon can I re-seed after application of Certainty?
Live in MA. Have a predominantly KBG lawn, with some tall fescue creeping in places that I would like to get rid of. After application, how soon can I re-seed any bare spots or over-seed the whole lawn? Thanks!
AAccording to the product label, you should wait at least 3 weeks before re-seeding or over-seeding with Certainty.
April 19, 2012Brian from Marysville, Oh asked:
QHow do I kill tall fescue in a KBG lawn?
I thought I was going to be able to use Certainty to kill the tall fescue in my KBG lawn until I read the note on the label change after 2011. What is the right product to use now?
AWe do not carry a product that will take fescue out of kentucky blue grass. Unfortunately they are so closely related that you cannot selectively remove it with any product that we are aware of. Your best option in this scenario is to kill the fescue with a round up (glyphosate) product and then re-seed with your KBG.
January 17, 2012Larry from Avon Indiana asked:
QDoes Certainty kill Kentucky blue grass?
Will it kill grassy weeds withot harming KBG?
ACertainty is not labeled for use on Kentucky Bluegrass. We do carry several herbicides such as SpeedZone Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate and Tenacity Herbicide which are labeled for use on Kentucky bluegrass. We strongly recommend that you read over the product label of the product you choose (product label link will be under the picture of the product on each individual product page) to make sure you can use the product on Kentucky Bluegrass and to make sure the weeds you are trying to eliminate are listed. You can search Kentucky Bluegrass on our online store to see other products that may meet your needs.
February 1, 2012Earl asked:
QWhat do you have to get rid of Poa Annua and nutsedge?
APoa Annua is actually annual bluegrass, a type of grassy weed. Certainty is our most popular product for Poa Annua and Nutsedge control.
March 16, 2012Jesse from Des Moines, Ia asked:
QQuackgrass - Is Q4 effective at killing quackgrass?
Are there any chemicals available through your company that can eradicate quackgrass?
AQuackgrass is a grassy weed, so you need a product labeled for grassy weeds. Certainty is our most popular product for quackgrass and other grassy weeds.
April 23, 2012Garry from Lumberton, N.c_ asked:
QMy zeon zoysia lawn (sodded last summer) is being taken over by water grass
ACertainty is a selective herbicide that kills many grassy weeds which water grass is a generic term for, in warm season grasses like zoysia. It will kill the grassy weeds and not the zoysia grass.
April 29, 2010Brian asked:
QHow much Certainty Herbicide do I need to get rid of broad leaf weeds?
I have a normal turf lawn, and am interested in getting rid of the broad leaf weeds. I need to cover for a lawn of 3 acres.
ACertainty should only be used on certain types of warm season grasses. We can better answer your question if you can tell us what type of grass you mainly are trying to control the broad leaf weed in?
August 8, 2010B.h. asked:
QWill Certainty kill Chamberbitter without harming St. Augustine?
I live in East Texas. These things look like miniature Mimosa trees, and they are very prolific. They are apparently quite hardy, Sedge Hammer won't kill them.
AWe recently started carrying herbicides due to customer request, but they are not yet our specialty. We would like to refer you to the manufacturer since they are the experts on their Certainty product. The manufacturer is Monsanto and you can reach them at (800) 332-3111. You can also contact your local cooperative extension office and request advice from the local master gardener who is well versed on the plant life in your region.
April 3, 2012Chad from Elizabethtown, Kentucky asked:
QI am looking for the herbicide for dandelions, chickweed, and clover. I have tall fescue.
ACertainty is not labeled for use on Fescue. It actually will kill the fescue.
Our most popular general weed control product that is selective, meaning it will not harm your turf grass but it will kill your weeds, is End Run. End Run is labeled for just about any weed you could have including clover, dandelions, and chickweed and will not harm your grass. Best of all, it comes with a surfactant already mixed in the product so you do not have to purchase and mix a surfactant separately like you do with most of the other herbicides that we sell. Here is a link to the End Run: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/endrun-herbicide-with-trimec-p-1501.html Please let me know if you have any further questions.
December 27, 2010Theresa asked:
QWhen and what should I use to treat brown patch in St. Augustine grass in Texas?
We had brown patch last fall and did not treat it. There are several huge patches in once acre of St. Augustine grass. We were told by the extension office to use Daconil and Immunox. I'm not seeing a suggestion or sale of these two products on your web site. What do you recommend for brown patch? We want to treat it now in the Houston, Texas area, so we do not have this in the spring-summer. Thanks
AWhile we do carry many products to treat brown patch due to customer demand, our area of expertise is structural pests. We recommend that you either follow the advice of the extension office or call a landscape company that specializes in St. Augustine grass and ask them to come give you a free estimate (they usually will tell you what product they would use).
August 2, 2012Corey from Minnesota asked:
QWhen is the best time to apply Certainty to kill Tall Fescue?
I want to kill my Tall Fescue. I've read it is a "cool season grass." What is the best time of year to apply Certainty? In addition, is a surfactant necessary or does it simply aid the absorption? I have about 1/2 acre to treat Thanks
AYou should mix Certainty with a surfactant to increase its effectiveness.
It would be best to call your local county extension office for when to apply any type of herbicides or insecticides in your area. They would know better than we would since we are not the manufacturer and we live in Georgia. They will know exactly when you should apply it in your specific county. You can find your local county extension office information here: http://www.csrees.usda.gov/Extension/index.html
