General Recommendations:

PRECAUTION: Do not exceed 2.0 lbs. N per 1,000 sq. ft. per application.

BENT GRASS: 4.5 - 6.8 lbs. of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. per year applied in multiple applications of 1/8 to 1/4 lb. of nitrogen. Use higher rates in areas with prolonged growing seasons, areas of high foot traffic or in “grow-in” situations.

BERMUDA GRASS: 9 - 11.5 lbs. of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. per year in multiple applications of 1/4 to 1/2 lb. of nitrogen. Use higher rates in areas with prolonged growing seasons, areas of high foot traffic or in “grow-in” situations.

BLUE GRASS & OTHER COOL SEASON GRASSES: 3.75 - 4.25 lbs. of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. per year applied in multiple applications. Use higher rates in areas with prolonged growing seasons, areas of high foot traffic or in “grow-in” situations.

ST. AUGUSTINE & OTHER WARM SEASON GRASSES: 2.5 - 3.5 lbs. of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. per year applied in multiple applications. Use higher rates in areas with prolonged growing seasons, areas of high foot traffic or in “grow-in” situations.

TREE & SHRUB:

Deep Root Feeding:

  • DBH Method: Apply 1/4 to 1/2 lb. of N per inch of trunk diameter or per ft. of shrub height.
  • Square Foot Method: Apply 1 to 3 lbs. N per 1,000 sq. ft. area.
  • Mixing Procedures: Mix 5 gallons fertilizer per 95 gallons water for total volume 100 gallons. Provides 0.078 lb. N per gallon of finished blend. Utilize required amount of mixed blend to provide the N desired: Example 8 inch DBH requires 25 gallon for 2 lbs. N.
  • Square Ft. Method: lb. of N required per 1,000 sq. ft. divided by lb. N per gallon of mixture = Gallons of mix product required per 1,000 sq. ft.
  • Addition of Hydra-Hume may increase fertilizer efficiency. Add at 1% Volume to Volume to the fertilizer mixture.

ORNAMENTAL AND CONTAINER GROWN PLANT MATERIAL:

  • Use 1/2 to 2 gals. per 100 gals. of water per application dependent upon plant requirements.

Q

Q
Can l apply CoRoN 14-2-14 Plus Micros on flower beds to kill the weeds?
A

The CoRoN 14-2-14 Plus Micros is not a weed killer, it is a fertilizer so no weed control would come from using this product. If you are looking to get rid of grassy weeds in a flower bed area you could use a product like Fertilome Over the Top II or Grass Out Max mixed with a surfactant. If you are trying to control broadleaf weeds in a flower bed then you would need to either hand pull or spot treat them directly with a Roundup type product as there are not any products you can broadcast over flower beds for broadleaf weed control. You may want to look at using a pre-emergent herbicide like Surflan Pro in the fall and spring to help prevent weeds from coming up in those areas.
