Cutrine Plus Algaecide

This product is intended for large bodies of water and cannot be used in small ponds containing koi or gold fish.

Cutrine-Plus is one of the most popular algaecides on the market today. It is a double-chelated copper solution effective against a wide variety of algal species. Due to its double-chelate it stays in the water column longer, and in combination with its greater amount of activity in the plant can be much more effective. Cutrine-Plus is the only chelated copper algaecide that is patented on the market today.

Cutrine Plus is a 9% chelated copper algaecide for use in lakes, potable water reservoirs, farm ponds, fish and industrial ponds, fish hatcheries and raceways, crop and non-crop irrigation conveyance systems, ditches, canals, and laterals. Cutrine Plus under field conditions, is effective in controlling a broad range of algae including Chara, Spirogyra, Cladophora, Vaucheria, Ulothrix, Microcystis, and Oscillatoria. Effective in hard water. Treated water may be used for swimming, fishing, drinking, livestock watering, or irrigation immediately after treatment. Application rates range from 0.6 to 1.2 gallons per acre foot of water treated.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Cutrin Plus is a liquid copper-based formulation containing ethanolamine chelating agents to prevent the precipitation of copper with carbonates and bicarbonates in the water. Cutrine Plus effectively controls a broad range of algae including: Planktonic (suspended) forms such as the Cyanobacteria (Microcystis, Anabaena & Aphanizomenon), Green algae (Raphidocelis & Cosmarium) Golden algae (Prymnesium parvum) and diatoms (Navicula & Fragilaria); Filamentous (mat-forming) forms such as the Green Algae (Spirogyra, Cladophora, Ulothrix & Rhizoclonium) and Benthic (bottom-growing) forms such as Chara and Nitella. Cutrine Plus has also been proven effective in controlling the rooted aquatic plant, Hydrilla verticillata. Waters treated with Cutrine Plus may be used for swimming, fishing, further potable water treatment, livestock watering or irrigating turf, ornamental plants or crops after treatment.

    Verified Purchase

We have used Cutrine Plus for our 1 surface acre pond for the past 2 years. We are very pleased with the results of this product. We combine this product with Reward in a sprayer (50/50 mix). The combination works well for underwater algae and floating algae. Within 24 hrs the algae is already turning brown and dissipating. This 50/50 combo always kills cattails very well.

    5 of 5 stars  It's Working!
By Al in Yukon, OK on 06/14/2016

I found this to be the best price on the Internet for Cutrine Plus Algaecide. I was pleased that my delivery arrived well ahead of when I expected. I have applied several diluted gallons at the 9:1 dilution rate from a tank sprayer and have seen excellent results on our 2-3 acre pond. Thanks, DMOPC!

QCan I use Cutrine Plus directly on algae mats?
I have a two acre pond with algae around most of the shore about 8ft out. Can I spray the algae mat directly to eliminate the algae without treating the entire pond? I would like to spray the algae in sections to eliminate any possible harm to the fish.

A

Yes, Cutrine Plus can be used on algae mats. You do not want to treat the entire pond all at once so that you do not harm the fish. You will use 1.5-2 gallons per surface acre of pond. You will treat 1/2 of the pond and wait 2 weeks and do the second treatment. Please see the product label for complete application instructions.

QWill Cutrine Plus Algaecide controll cattails , willow and duckweed?

ACutrine Plus Algaecide is effective in controlling a broad range of algae including Chara, Spirogyra, Cladophora, Vaucheria, Ulothrix, Microcystis, and Oscillatoria. We recommend applying Diquat Water Weed and Landscape Herbicide for the eradication of duckweed, cattail and willow.

QCan you buy Cutrine plus algaecide in granulated form?
Our controller of the lake we live on suggest we use it around the area of our boathouse and the granules would work best.

AWe do not carry Cutrine Plus in the granule form.  However, we do carry a different brand of algeacide called GreenClean Pro Granules which is actually our best selling algeacide.

QHow do you figure application rate of Cutrine Plus Algaecide for small Koi ponds?
I have 2 ponds. One is about 20 foot long 3 foot wide stream only 1.5 foot deep. Another 20 x 15 only 2 foot deep. How much product to treat both at one application?

A

You should not use Cutrine Plus Aglaecide for small ponds containing koi fish.  This is the verbiage from the product label:  This product may be toxic to trout and other species of fish. Fish toxicity is dependent upon the hardness of water. Do not use in water containing trout if the carbonate hardness of water does not exceed 50 ppm. Do not use in waters containing Koi and hybrid goldfish. Not intended for use in small volume, garden pond systems.

Unfortunately we do not carry an algaecide to be used in small koi ponds.  We recommend you talk to a local koi pond supplier.

QCan I use Cutrine Plus to control out-of-control algae?
I have (2) 1/2+acre ponds which are overrun with bottom growing algea, which consumes the pond. There are several types of fish in the ponds and I have livestock in both fields where the ponds are, so it must be safe for animals and fish. I have tried numourous solutions, but all that is empty is my wallet.

A

Cutrine Plus Algaecide is one of our most popular algaecides, effective against the most popular varieties of pond algae. Please be aware this and other algaecides with copper should not be used in water containing koi, trout, or goldfish, or in water that sheep or goats may drink. We would encourage you to be sure that you have correctly identified the algae or plant that you are treating to ensure you are using the best products. You can find a good resource at pondplantid.com or by contacting your local Department of Natural Resources.

QI plan to use the Cutrine Plus Algaecide on my Florida roof to control algae.
Although it is not approved for such use, I can legally do it. Also, it is more environmentally friendly than using chlorine. How many ounces per gallon of water would you expect to provide good algae control on a concrete tile roof?

AWe apologize but we are not able to give instructions for off label uses of the Cutrine Plus Algaecide.  We would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly, Applied Bio Chemists can be reached at 1-800-558-5106
