How Cyonara 9.7 Works
Cyonara 9.7 is a water-based insecticide concentrate that is diluted with water and applied with a hand pump sprayer or other pressurized application equipment. Cyonara 9.7 contains the active ingredient lambda-cyhalothrin, the same active ingredient in the popular insecticide Demand CS. Lambda-cyhalothrin is a synthetic pyrethroid designed to mimic the naturally-occurring pyrethrins derived from the Chrysanthemum flower, attacking an insect’s central nervous system. The synthetic active ingredient, however, is less costly and has a long-lasting residual. Cyonara 9.7 applications kill insects that come in contact with the direct spray or with the dried residual for weeks after application.
Common crawling and flying insect pests including ants, bed bugs, beetles, boxelder bugs, carpenter bees, centipedes, cockroaches, crickets, earwigs, fleas, millipedes, mosquitoes, pantry pests, silverfish, spiders, ticks, wasps; ornamental and lawn pests such as armyworms, chinch bugs, crickets, cutworms, lacebugs, leafhoppers, mealybugs, pillbugs, scale, stink bugs, and webworms (see below for complete list)
PESTS CONTROLLED: Ants (including Imported Fire Ants), Bedbugs, Bees, Boxelder Bugs, Carpenter Bees, Carpet Beetles, Centipedes, Cigarette Beetles, Clover Mites, Cockroaches, Confused Flour Beetles, Crickets, Earwigs, Firebrats, Fleas (outdoors), Flies, Grasshoppers, Lesser Grain Borers, Litter Beetles (Darkling, Hide, Carrion), Millipedes, Mites, Mosquitoes, Pillbugs, Red Flour Beetles, Rice Weevils, Saw-toothed Grain Beetles, Scorpions, Silverfish, Sowbugs, Spiders, Spider Mites (Two-spotted, Spruce), Stink Bugs, Termites (above ground only), Ticks, Wasps; Armyworms, Azalea Caterpillars, Aphids, Bagworms, Black vine weevils, Boxelder bugs, Budworms, California oakworms, Cankerworms, Cutworms, Eastern tent caterpillars, Elm Leaf Beetles, European sawflies, Fall webworms, Flea beetles, Forest tent caterpillars, Gypsy moth larvae, Japanese beetles, June beetles, Lace bugs, Leaf-feeding caterpillars, Leafhoppers, Leafminers, Leaf rollers, Leaf skeletonizers, Midges, Oleander moth larvae, Pine sawflies, Pine shoot beetles, Pinetip moths, Plant bugs, Root weevils, Sawflies, Scale insects (crawlers), Spittlebugs, Stink Bugs, Striped beetles, Striped oakworms, Thrips, Tip moths, Tussock moth larvae; Broadmites, Brown softscales, California redscales, Clover mites, Mealybugs, Pineneedlescales (crawlers), Whiteflies; Sod webworms; Bluegrass billbugs, Black turfgrass ataenius, Chiggers, Grubs (suppression), Hyperodes weevils, Mole crickets, Chinch bugs
Target Uses of Cyonara 9.7
Cyonara 9.7 insecticide concentrate has an incredibly broad label, making it an excellent choice for almost any insect pest control needs. Use Cyonara as a general or quarterly perimeter treatment outdoors and as a crack and crevice treatment indoors. Cyonara 9.7 can be used to treat most common crawling, flying, ornamental, and turf pests, and it is labeled for use in food handling establishments (non-food areas only). Use to treat occasional invaders like ants, cockroaches, centipdedes, earwigs, spiders, and crickets. Cyonara 9.7 can also be used to treat pantry pests, stinging insects, seasonal pests such as carpenter bees or boxelder bugs, and lawn and ornamental pests. Cyonara 9.7 can also be applied to treat litter beetles and flies and livestock and poultry housing.
Cyonara 9.7 dries clear and will not leave a visible residue on dark surfaces like other insecticide formulations. The risk of phytotoxicity is very low with Cyonara 9.7, though a small area should be tested before making large applications.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Lambda-cyhalothrin 9.7%
*** Always read the product label completely before use ***
Use as a general surface, crack and crevice, or spot treatment in, on, and around buildings and structures and their immediate surroundings, and on modes of transport.
Dilute CYONARA 9.7 with water for application using hand-held or power-operated application equipment as a coarse spray for crack and crevice or spot and general surface (non-food/non-feed areas only) treatments.
- Fill applicator tank with the desired volume of water and add CYONARA 9.7.
- Close and shake before use in order to ensure proper mixing.
- Shake or re-agitate applicator tank before use if application is interrupted.
- Mix only amount of treatment volume as required.
Tank Mixing: CYONARA 9.7 may be tank mixed with other currently registered pesticides unless expressly prohibited by the product label. A small volume mixing test with the other products is recommended to ensure compatibility.
- If other chemicals are added to the applicator tank, CYONARA 9.7 should be added last.
- If mixed with EC formulations, use within 24 hours.
- Fill tank to desired volume and continue to agitate while making applications.
- CYONARA 9.7 may be tank mixed with an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR).
- Observe all restrictions and precautions which appear on the labels of these products.
* Cyonara 9.7 may be converted to a foam and the foam used to treat structural voids to control or prevent pests including ants, bees, termites (above ground only), wasps, or other arthropods harboring in walls, under slabs, or in other void areas.
* Cyonara 9.7 does not provide instant knockdown for stinging insects such as bees and wasps. For best results, treat bee, wasp and hornet nests late in the day when most insects will be present. Allow 2-3 days for the colony to die and repeat if necessary.
- Remove all exposed food and cooking utensils.
- Cover all food handling surfaces or wash thoroughly after treatment and before use.
- Do not use on edible crops.
- Each 8 oz. bottle of concentrate yields 10 – 40 gallons of finished solution, depending on application.
- Each 32 oz. (quart) bottle yields 40 – 160 gallons of finished solution.
- Each gallon of finished solution should cover approximately 1,000 square feet.
Standard Application Dilution Rates / Mixing Ratios:
- 0.2 fl. oz. (6 mL)/gal. of water – 0.015% - Maintenance or Prevention of most common pests, small pests such as ants.
- 0.4 fl. oz. (12 mL)/gal. of water – 0.03% - Active infestations of most common pests, fleas (outdoors only), light beetle infestations.
- 0.8 fl. oz. (24 mL)/gal. of water – 0.06% - Clean-out, severe infestations of pests such as cockroaches, crickets, flies, litter beetles, carpenter bees; residual control of mosquitoes.
- 0.2-0.8 (6-24mL) in 1-5 gal. of water over 800-1600 sq. ft. – perimeter barrier applications.
- 1.5-5.0 fl. oz. (44-148 mL)/100 gal. of water – Ornamental pest applications over large areas.
- 5-10 fl. oz. per acre – 2.4-7 mL per 1,000 sq. ft. – Lawn and turfgrass pests; use sufficient water for coverage, usually 2-5 gal. of water per 1,000 sq. ft.
- 0.5 fl. oz. (15 mL)/1-2.5 gal. of water – Spot treatments of ornamental or turf pests
For use in the following areas:
In, on and around buildings and structures for the control of listed pests, including on lawns, ornamental trees and shrubs around residential, institutional, public, commercial, agricultural, and industrial buildings; and parks, recreational areas and athletic fields; Areas include but are not limited to industrial buildings, houses, apartment buildings, laboratories, buses, greenhouses (non-commercial), stores, warehouses, vessels, railcars, trucks, trailers, aircraft (cargo and other non-cabin areas only), schools, nursing homes, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, livestock/poultry housing, pet kennels, food granaries, food grain mills and food manufacturing, processing, and servicing establishments
Crawling Insects such as Cockroaches, Crickets, Earwigs, Silverfish, and Spiders: Apply as a coarse, low pressure spray to areas where these pests hide, such as baseboards, corners, storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, attics and eaves, cabinets, behind and under refrigerators, sinks, furnaces and stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers and similar areas. Pay particular attention to cracks and crevices
Bedbugs: Clean floors and surfaces by vacuuming. Apply as a coarse, low-pressure spray to harborage areas including crevices, baseboards, loose plaster, behind bed frames and headboards, beneath beds and furniture, and to bedsprings and bed frames. Do not apply to furniture surfaces or mattresses where people will be laying or sitting. Use a pesticide approved for use on mattresses on these areas. Infested bedding should not be treated, but should be removed, placed in sealed plastic bags, and taken for laundering and drying at high temperatures. Not recommended as the sole treatment for bed bugs.
Food-Handling Establishments: Use as a crack and crevice or spot treatment in and around both food and nonfood areas. Apply in small amounts directly into cracks and crevices, using equipment capable of delivering a pin stream of insecticide, in points between different elements of construction, between equipment and floor, openings leading to voids and hollow spaces in walls, equipment and bases. Food contact surfaces and equipment should be cleaned with an effective cleaning compound and rinsed with potable water before using. Limit individual spot treatments to an area no larger than 20% of the treated surface. Individual spot treatments should not exceed 2 sq. ft.
* Applications can be reapplied at 21-day intervals if necessary.
Outdoor Surfaces: Apply with either hand or power application equipment as a residual treatment to ornamental plants next to foundations of buildings and to surfaces of buildings, porches, screens, window frames, eaves, patios, garages, refuse dumps, and other similar areas where these insect pests are active.
Perimeter Barrier Treatments:
- Before application, remove debris and leaf litter from next to the foundation, cut back vegetation and branches that touch the foundation, and move or rake back rocks, deep mulch, or other potential pest harborage next to the foundation.
- Apply a continual band of insecticide around building foundations and around windows, doors, service line entrances, eaves, vents, and other areas to reduce the potential for entry by crawling pests.
- Apply the band up to 10 ft. wide around the structure (or according to state regulations governing commercial pest control) and upwards along the foundation to 3 ft. and around windows, doors, and roof overhangs.
- Apply as a coarse spray to thoroughly and uniformly wet the foundation and/or band area so that the insecticide will reach the soil or thatch level where pests may be active.
Carpenter Bees: Apply coarse spray to thoroughly wet wood surfaces where bees have been previously active or to provide protection against further damage. Apply early in the spring to prevent bees from invading wood. When bees have infested wood, surface applications can help control embedded larvae and bees that emerge from the wood. See also: Carpenter Bee Control.
Lawns/Turfgrass and Ornamentals: Application rates for turf and ornamentals are lower than structural pest control rates, reflecting that treatment intervals are more frequent. Do not apply more than 52.4 fl. oz. of concentrate (0.36 lbs. a.i.) per acre per year. Applications to ornamentals or turf should be started prior to the establishment of high insect pest populations. Apply at 7-day intervals if retreatment is necessary. Limit more frequent treatment to spot treatments. . Addition of a spreader-sticker at recommended rates may enhance the control of insects on certain species of ornamentals having waxy, hard to wet foliage.

This killed everything!!
By Steve on 09/05/2007
Cyonara 9.7 is an awesome product. Not too many products last long down here in the 100 degree heat but this does for a solid 4 weeks. This killed everything, there weren't any bugs even at night with the porch light on. I had a really horrible problem with flies, crickets and spiders and this knocked them down permanently for a month while it was in the upper 90's/ 100's.

After months of battling cockroaches, flies, and ants, I went to my local pest control store. They sold 1 pint size container of Cyonara 9.7 and showed me the proper way to mix this substance in a 2 gallon sprayer. About 24-48 hrs after I applied it around my home, there were no signs of any of the above mentioned insects even after receiving 10 inches of rain plus temps over 90 degrees. By the way I had sprayed my house over 15 days ago. I would refer Cyonara 9.7 to anyone who does their own pest control, it's definitely worth the money.

I use this product to control carpenter bees. I have a cedar siding home that the bees love to bore into. Since I got Cyonara and spray it over the entire house, it appears that the bees ignore the siding. Thanks for the product

It works , enough said
By Dee in Killeen, TX on 01/08/2014
I have heard that you can not do your own bed bug treatments and get rid of them, to that I say HA!!! I use Cyonara 9.7 and have no bugs now. I did get rid of the infested items like mattress and upholstered furniture but that was all. I use cyonara now more as a preventative than anything . Believe me once you get those critters you have to be persistent but you can get rid of them on your own. It just takes longer and more work on your part.

Bed Bugs Gone
By Bill in Nashville, TN on 11/07/2013
I know you are flipping out. Steam and Encase everything. Use your dryer to heat up what you can and then encase that. I used cyonara mixed a little hot and sprayed the baseboards and any cracks in our paneling. It took a couple sprays, but they are gone. I am still spraying once per month for good measure

We live out in the country in Central TX and this summer we had the worst scorpion infestation we ever had. Three to four scorpions in the house every single night and dozens on the porch. On top of that I have the worst panic attacks over them. We had used other products to get rid of them and nothing helped. A friend recommended cyonara 9.7 as he has been using it for years. I have now used cyonara 9.7 over the past two month (spray every three weeks) and all the scorpions are gone. The first time we sprayed I went out a good 8 feet from the house and 3 feet up the walls. Within 48 hours we had dozens of dead or dying scorpions on the porch and a few feet into the house. After 72 hours we didn't see any in the house and only occasional ones on the porch. They were either dead or dying. I have sprayed every three weeks and the last time went as far as 20 feet out from the house and around all the trees and rockpiles. No scorpions anymore. Not even deads ones. I will spray again in the spring to nip them in the butt immediately but my husband thinks I have eradicated them a good 90%. I have become so confident about cyonara 9.7 that I am no more worried about the scorpions and my panic attacks are all but gone. Cyonara is my lifeline and I will continue using it. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a problem with scorpions or any other arachnid or insect for that matter as it kills it all. Nice thing it does not affect my lizards or geckos. Cyonara holds up wonderful to rain as well. Scorpions usually die within 24 hours of exposure but start acting sick a lot sooner then that. They turn darker brownish in color, drop their tail to the ground and then just freeze in place and don't move. :)

Can't help but give this 5 stars. Bought it with skepticism due to the price, but had to do something. We spent $500 the previous year on professional spraying and didn't want to do it again. Live on the water in TX, and spiders are CRAZY! Lots of black widows, a few brown recluse, one tarantula, and thousands of little annoying varieties. Sprayed the house 2 weeks ago, along with our pier, and daycare center an hour away. Within seconds of spraying, you'd watch them go nuts, then just go quiet. Has taken care of my spider problems, as well as bees I had on the eaves. 1/4 oz per gallon of water. Simply unbeatable. I'm sold. Spent $60 on two bottles and have plenty left. Haven't used an ounce total, and two locations are now spider free! I truly couldn't be happier. I think next time I'll get the Demand CS, though it will be a year or two before I need more. Demand is the same thing as Cyonara, but is encapsulated for longer control.

Don't waste your money on store bought products
By Ed in Brookfield, Wis on 11/14/2009
We were seeing centipedes daily in our home in the late evening and early mornings. "Disgusting". I treated with Ortho Home Defense Max which didn't do a thing. I sprayed with Cyonara 9.7 and haven't seen a centipede or spider in weeks. Worked great! This is the second product I've tried from Do My Own Pest Control. I used Termidor SC to treat an infestation of big black ants. After 3 days of spraying one treatment, I had to look to find a black ant. Both products I tried worked unbelievably well. The products are a little pricey compared to store bought, but well worth the money if you want a professional type product that really works!

Finally, a product that really works
By Charlie on 08/26/2009
I have had tick problems for years. No matter what I used or which pest control company came to the house to spray, they never seemed to go away. I sprayed with Cyonara 9.7 according to the instructions 3 weeks ago and have yet to see any ticks at all! As a matter of fact, I haven't seen any bugs! This stuff does the job. I will definitely use this product again.

QWhat is the proper mixing ratio to water of Cyonara 9.7 in a 1 gallon sprayer
What is the proper ratio for mixing Cyonara in a one gallon sprayer. I want good protection from ants, spiders, crickets, scorpions, beetles etc in the Phoenix area. I don't want to over mix it, i.e. wasting it. The mixing chart is a little confusing with a lot of different ratios starting at 5 gallon mixing etc.
ASince scorpions are on your list you will need to use the highest application rate of 0.8 fl. oz. (24 mL) per
gallon of water. Pages 3 and 4 of Cyonara product label has a usage rate chart based on the types of pests you will be treating
QCan I apply Cyonara 9.7 inside my home? I have kids and small dogs inside.
AYes, you can use Cyonara 9.7 while kids and dogs are in the house. When you mix this concentrate with water, it is only .03% - .06% active ingredient and only strong enough to kill small insects. It is a good idea to keep pets and children outside or in another room while treating and then allow about 30 minutes for the product to dry. Once dry, it is perfectly safe for children and pets to re-enter the living space. Of course, you should always store the bottle of concentrate just like any other cleaning chemicals, out of reach of children and pets.
QI'm looking for one of your products to control stink bugs, but I won't buy a product made in China.
Is Cyonara made in China, as this is the one that looks best for our situation? Thank you!
ACyonara is manufactured in Houston, Texas. American made!
QIs Cyonara 9.7 safe for dogs when sprayed in the yard?
ACyonara 9.7 is safe for use around dogs when used as directed on the product label. Keep the dogs out of the yard while Cyonara is being applied and do not allow them to return to the yard until the treatment is dry.
QDoes Cyonara 9.7 spray work for bedbugs?
how often would i have to repeat this for it to guarantee that i won't get bed bugs back again.
ACyonara 9.7 will work for bedbugs but it should not be the only product you use. You will also need to use an aerosol that can be sprayed on mattresses and furniture and into cracks and crevices, dust that you can apply in wall voids and other cracks and crevices and an insect growth regulator to help halt the breeding process. We have put together bedbug kits that contain all of the different products you would need for bedbug treatments. We also recommend using bedbug proof mattress and boxspring encasements to help eliminate current infestations and help make bedbug inspections easier in the future. Unfortunately there is no way to guarantee that you will not get infested in the future. Bedbugs are notorious hitch hikers and can come in on people or infested items.

Qgrasshoppers infestation on 5.78 acres
Please is the rate for grasshoppers 0.8 oz/gallon ? we have a 12 gal sprayer - also will the poison last for a while to continue killing when it dries. TY
AYes, you want to use .8 fl oz per one gallon of water. Yes, the residual of Cyonara 9.7 is up to three months. Also, this product is safe for people and pets to be around after the treated area has dried.
07/11/2012 Mike from Houston, Tx
QCan I apply Cyonara 9.7 with a yard sprayer (attached to the hose with the product in the tank)?
In reading the instructions it mentions tank mixing the product. Can I use my sprayer, which has the proper product to water ratio in the dial (it's an Ortho sprayer)? I would rather not use a hand tank sprayer as I have a large yard. Thanks for your help!
ACyonara 9.7 can be used in a hose end sprayer that can be calibrated to spray the usage rate that fits your needs.
06/10/2012 Dee from Plano, Tx
QFor yard use, would you mow the lawn first before use or after for best results or does it matter?
AAccording to the Cyonara 9.7 product label you should wait 12-24 hours after the application to mow.
QCan I get a mixing chart for Cyonara 9.7? Mine fell off.
AWe have the product labels available on our website on the individual product pages. If you look up Cyonara 9.7 on our website and go to the page that is all about Cyonara 9.7, you will see a 'product label' link just under the picture of the product. For your convenience I have also linked the product label here: Cyonara 9.7 Product Label.
QHow long do you have to wait before you re-enter a room that has been sprayed with Cyonara 9.7?
The room is infected with bedbugs.
AIn most cases, you will need to wait 1-2 hours or until the application is dry. Since Cyonara 9.7 is water based it has just about the same drying time as water.
QWill Cyonara 9.7 help to get rid of the roaches before they spread to my other tenants?
I have a tenant who moved in and she didn't bother to tell me she had a issue with roaches at her last apartment.
ACyonara 9.7 will help get rid of roaches. We also recommend using a roach bait gel along with an insect growth regulator. We recommend spraying low around baseboards, under appliances, in corners, around door frames and window frames. Use the bait up high on counter tops, apply directly into cracks and crevices to get rid of the roaches that live in the walls. You can mix the insect growth regulator with Cyonara and spray at the same time. Gentrol IGR will help disrupt the roaches breeding and development cycle, allowing you to get rid of the roaches you currently have before they reproduce out of control. We have also put together a Roach Control Kit that may fit your needs.
QWhat is the difference between Cyonara and Demand?
I am currently using Demand CS. I am satisfied with that, but would like to try Cyonara. What is the difference between Cyonara and Demand?
ACyonara 9.7 and Demand CS have the exact same active ingredient, Lambda-Cyhalothrin at the exact same concentration, 9.7%. Cyonara 9.7 is the generic brand of Demand CS and they are very similar. The main difference between the products is that the Demand CS is micro-encapsulated and the Cyonara 9.7 is not. Micro-encapsulation means that the active ingredient is contained in thousands of microscopic capsules that slowly release the product as the capsule dries out after the application. This helps the product be slightly less repellent to insects and helps the product last for a bit longer than other products.
QWill Cyonara help to control ticks in the grass in my yard?
I live in Roatan, Honduras, and my dogs are inundated with ticks. The vet told me to spray the yard. Will this work against ticks?
AYes, Cyonara 9.7 will treat ticks in your yard as well as 70 other different pests. However, we do not ship outside of the United States at this time.
QWill Cyonara 9.7 work on asian beetles? If so, how much to a gallon of water? How long will it last outside?
ACyonara 9.7 is an excellend product for asian beetles as well as just about any other insect you may have an issue with. Once applied it will last for 2 - 3 months, but for best results you should apply it at least every two months. For asian beetles and most other insects, you should mix 1/2 ounce per gallon of water.
QWhat is the shelf life of Cyonara 9.7? Do you sell Surrender Pestabs?
ACyonara 9.7 has a shelf life of approximately 3 years if stored away from extreme temperatures. After you mix the product with water, you should use the mixed solution within 24 hours (do not leave the solution in your sprayer longer 24 hours). We also sell Surrender PesTabs.
