Deer Off deer repellent concentrate has a patented Dual Deterrent System formula that provides both scent and taste barriers to repel deer, rabbits, and squirrels. The formula contains putrescent eggs solids at 6.25% (0.78% when diluted), garlic and capsaicin. The putrescent egg and garlic scent, coupled with a hot pepper taste will dissuade deer, rabbit, and squirrels from eating your plants, bulbs, flowers, trees, ornamentals and seedlings. Makes 8 gallons of ready-to-use formula, which is enough to treat 1,600 ornamental shrubs four feet tall, or approx. 16,000 sq. ft. of plantings. Each application lasts 90 days. Leaves no visible film or residue and will not change color of plants or foliage. Leaves a mild human detectable odor that would not be considered strong.

Great stuff! I've used it for about ten years. I live on an island with a large herd of deer who leave my plants alone as long as I remember to spray with Deer Off once every three-four months. If I forget, the deer remind me.

only one we'll use

Deer Off works great, and does not discolor our hostas. It works for a long time. We do two or three applications per summer. We have a lot of hostas and a lot of deer. So we use the concentrate to get cost effective coverage. Be sure and wash out your sprayer thoroughly after use to avoid clogs. Recommend Deer Off highly.

I have been using Deer Off for about one year and find it marginally effective for deer and less effective for rabbits, although I do not re-apply immediately following a significant rain shower. My greatest heartburn with this product is the large particle content that blocks my spray nozzle frequently. I have had to resort to filtering the liquid after adding water to eliminate pepper seeds and other particulates and drilling out the spray nozzle to gain a reasonable flow rate at the expense of losing the spray pattern.

It works for me
By Barry in Ellicott City, MD on 07/09/2015
I have a lot of destructive deer. I've been using this product for several years, and it works. You have to keep your eye on the rain and reapply it if there's been heavy rain, as we've been having frequently on the East coast this year. But I've got daylilies with flowers and hostas with leaves, so it's definitely worth it. Excellent product.

QIs the Deer Off the same version with more of the active ingredient as the ready to use formulation?
ADeer Off has the same active ingredient in the concentrated formulation as the ready to use formulation. The percentage is different because the concentrated needs to be diluted per the label instructions. The ready to use is already diluted for convenience. Both are very effective in repelling deer if used as directed.

QCan you use this product with a deer repellant fence like plotmasters advertises
AThe Deer Off Deer Repellent label does not specify this product to be used as a barrier along a fence line of any kind. The Deer Scram Professional is labeld to be used as a "strip" barrier treatment: Starting 15 inches from the edge of the landscaped area, apply a 20 inch wide band of Deer Scram Professional around the perimeter of the bed. Find where the deer are entering the property and apply 3 strips across the deer path, 5 feet apart.
