How Demand CS Works
To understand how Demand CS works you must first know what it is. Demand CS is a microencapsulated water-based formulation offering superior insect control. Compared to older pyrethroid materials that have been used for many years with declining results, it is up to 200 times more active on flies and other animal health pests allowing lower rates. And it’s designed not only to work better, but to work longer. Demand CS controls over 30 insect pests including: Ants, Bees, Carpet Beetles, Centipedes, Cigarette Beetles, Cockroaches, Confused Flour Beetles, Firebrats, Fleas, Ticks, and more.
Demand CS combines an advanced generation pyrethroid with a unique capsule suspension formulation for outstanding protection against numerous perimeter insect pests.
Once the formulation has been applied and dried, lambda-cyhalothrin, the active ingredient, is released from the capsules. Control will occur primarily through direct contact of the insect pest with the capsules, with lambda-cyhalothrin transferring directly from the capsule to the cuticle of the insect. It is also possible for the capsules to be ingested in the case of insect pests which preen themselves such as cockroaches.

Demand CS Application Instructions
***Always read product label and directions completely before using!
Use indoors (crack and crevice only) and/or outdoors. Best applied with a 1 gallon sprayer. Apply to outside foundation and all entry points such as around windows, doors, etc. Always read the label completely before use.
8 oz. bottle yields 10-40 gallons of finished solution for standard application rates. Quart (32 oz.) bottle yields 40-160 gallons of finished solution.
Standard Application Dilution rates / Mixing Ratios for Demand CS:
- 0.2 fl. oz. (6mL)/gal. of water – 0.015% - light infestation, maintenance, general crawling pests
- 0.4 fl. oz. (12 mL)/gal. of water – 0.03% - moderate infestation
- 0.8 fl. oz. (24 mL)/gal. of water – 0.06% – clean-out, severe infestations, scorpions, spiders
Watch the video on this page for general use mixing and application instruction using a 1 gallon sprayer.
Demand CS is for use in the following areas:
In, on and around buildings and structures for the control of listed pests, including on lawns, ornamental trees and shrubs around residential, institutional, public, commercial, agricultural and industrial buildings; and parks, recreational areas and athletic fields; food handling establishments; livestock/poultry house structures; pet kennels
Use as a crack and crevice treatment only. May apply at 21-day intervals. Remove pets or children from treatment area until product is dry.
For bed bugs – Use 0.2-0.4 fl. oz./gal. of water. Do not apply to bedding or to mattresses or furniture surfaces where people will be laying or sitting.
May be converted to a foam for treatment in structural voids.
1 Gallon of finished solution will generally cover 1,000 square feet when using a hand pump sprayer for spot or perimeter treatments.
If using a hose-end sprayer, calibrate to 0.2, 0.4, or 0.8 ounces, and use 1-5 gallons of water per 800-1600 square feet. Higher volume applications will result in better coverage, particularly for mosquito control.
For ornamental pests – Use 1.5 – 5 fl. oz (44-148 mL) / 100 gallons of water – May be applied at 7-day intervals if necessary. Use lower dilution rates for more frequent applications or limit to spot treatment. The addition of a spreader sticker may increase application to waxy foliage.
When using large tank mixtures, use a buffering agent if necessary to keep pH from 5-7.
For lawn and turfgrass pests – Use 3.4-7 mL/1000 square feet or 5-10 fl. oz. / Acre
For thatch or subsurface inhabiting pests, use irrigation after application or higher water volumes to carry the active ingredient to the target pests.
See complete product label for additional instructions on outdoor applications.

We live at the base of the McDowell Mountains in North Scottsdale where crickets, spiders and scorpions are everywhere. I applied Demand CS right before sunset and the following morning it looked like an atomic bomb went off in my yard. Dead crickets, black widow spiders, cockroaches and last but not least the follow evening a slowly dying scorpion in our bedroom that accidentally crossed the wrong path. In nearly three weeks since we applied the product, I have yet to see ONE single cricket, spider, or cockroach. Great product!

We own a log home and have been plagued by carpenter bees. We have tried several other products: powders, liquids, professional and home store strengths and this is by far the best! It is non staining and easy to apply with a garden pump sprayer. After application, we watched the bees hover a minute and then decide to take up residence somewhere else. Those that stuck it out, were dead in the morning. It is almost instantaneous! We also applied it to our barn and found it killed bugs that we didn't even know we had a problem with. Try this product= it works!!!

Ants, crickets, and roaches no more...
By Gregory on April 15, 2009
We have tried several pest control companies to eradicate our recurring summer sewer roach problem to no avail. When the city treats the sewer drains and manholes, the roaches come into our yard and house. We also live in an area with crickets and tiny black ants. Nothing seemed to stop everything until we tried Demand CS. I read the label carefully and found that the strongest wipe out dose was for scorpions. I carefully measured, mixed, and sprayed the yard, block wall, foundation, windows and doors. The next morning was like a nuclear winter. Dead roaches, ants, and crickets everywhere. Our gardener cleaned them up like leaves. We now use the maintenance dose every three months and have not had a pest in a year. Awesome Stuff!!!

This is magic!
By Steve on September 4, 2008
Bought a neglected house with roaches all over the yard. After spraying 24 gallons of Dursban over a two month period I was still seeing too many roaches to count at night. I put Demand CS down and the next morning had over 60 dead roaches, 30+ more the following day and in 1 month and only 2 applications I'm down to 1 or 2 a day outside (dead) and none inside in a month. I've been outside at 11pm on hot nights and not seen one live roach! This is magic.

Demand CS kills fleas that we could never get rid of before. Dead on contact.
By David on November 24, 2014
I had a problem with millipedes--would usually see half a dozen a night crawling across the floors. After a crevice treatment along the baseboards, I am finding only dead ones.
By Jerry on November 16, 2014
this stuff is great, sprayed the exterior of my house and barn to get rid of the Asian Beetles, they will land and walk around on the surface that was sprayed and will die before morning. you do have sweep them up. This also kills more of the insects listed in your bug killers that you buy at your big box stores. Mix the proper amount with water in a sprayer and spray. The 8 oz. package will last a very long time, I mix 12 ml (.4 oz.) to a gallon of water.
Miracle spray for box elder bugs!
By Dana on October 23, 2014
We have a HUGE tree in our front yard that has Box Elder Bugs! I have had them in homes in the past, and had professionals come and spray and they would still find their way inside. They are impossible to get rid of. We found this spray, and we find them dead all over outside, and dead in the windows, but we never see them live in the house! This stuff really is a miracle treatment for those darn bugs. I would recommend it to anyone who has them. Even though we bought if for the Box Elder Bugs, I am assuming it works for other bugs and spiders because we never see any of those in the house either.
Demand for Scorpion Control
By Dennis on October 16, 2014
I have been using Demand for about 2 years now. The first year I sprayed at a minimum of once every three months, except for winter months. I saw a noticeable decrease in scorpion activity. This spring (April 2014) I sprayed again. From that time, till early Oct, I found one (1) live scorp in my garage. I found numerous dead scorpions in the garage, and around the yard in that time. To say I am very happy with this product would be the understatement of the year. All my friends with scorp problems now know about Demand. I live in Mesa AZ, and having pest control companies knock on my door is a weekly event. I tell them I treat my own yard. They ask what I use. When I tell them, they invariably say, "Oh, that's what we use too." I will continue to use it as long as they make it, lol.

I have been using Demand CS at my home for about three years now. We were having a problem with carpenter ants, earwigs, spiders, scorpions, and other assorted creepy crawling creatures. We have been very pleased with this product and highly recommend it.

As a small business owner, your reputation is the best way to get new clients, Demand will help give you that reputation. I have Tried Lambda star an Cynora 9.7 to alleviate costs, but neither has the residual or knock down that Demand has, would highly recommend!
great product , great price

I have used this product in the past and found it to be very effective . The price is considerably lower than at the local pest control stores .
Good Preventive for Insects
By Scott on September 9, 2014
I have used Demand for several years and always had good results. It has low odor and a good residual effect 3 to 6 months or better. I spray inside the house on the base boards and under appliances and sinks. Usually in a day I will notice results. I rarely see an insect. If I do they are usually on their back and very lethargic. It seems expensive but each application is only a few milliliters per 2 gallons. The ounce container has lasted several years for me and seems to maintain it potency.
By Allyn on September 5, 2014
It didn't work as good as it has other years for our cluster flies. New home but I don't think that should make a difference.

November 12, 2010 Laure asked:
QWhat's the difference between Demand CS and Suspend SC?
ABoth products have an active ingredient that is classified as a synthetic pyrethroid, so they really are very similar in the way that they work. Suspend SC contains the active ingredient deltamethrin and is a bit more versatile when it comes to bedbug treatments though as it can be sprayed on mattresses, carpets (spot treat only) and on furniture (crack and crevice only). Demand CS cannot. Demand CS contains the active ingredient lambda-cyhalothrin, and it is micro encapsulated which will make it last a little bit longer in outdoor applications.
August 14, 2009 Shanae asked:
QIs Demand CS safe to use around children and pets?
What's the risk of transfer since Demand CS is capsulated? For instance, we have hardwood floors and we vacuum the floors and the baseboards. Can the insecticide be transferred from the vacuum to another surface (such as when vacuum rugs and couches) and increase the risk of contact?
AIf you are applying the product correctly, it should only be in cracks and crevices and other closed off areas. There should not be any issues with transfer effect like you are speaking of. Once you apply Demand CS, the tiny microscopic balls of insecticide will bond to porous surfaces and will not be removed by general cleaning or vacuuming. You should allow 30 minutes after application for the product to dry before cleaning or allowing children and pets to re-enter the room.
April 26, 2011 Sharon asked:
QDoes Demand CS kill stinkbugs?
AAbsolutely. Although stink bugs are not specifically on the label, the active ingredient Lambda Cyhalothrin in the Demand CS has shown great results on Stink Bugs. Many of our customers buy Demand CS for stinkbugs and the customer feedback has been great in regards to the results.
April 29, 2011 Jen asked:
QWhat is the best product for killing box elder bugs?
AWe have numerous products that are labeled for killing box elder bugs that work excellent. Demand CS is definitely one of our most popular and will work great on box elder bugs. In addition, Demand CS is labeled for almost any other insect you could have an issue with and can be used safely indoors as well as outdoors. It also has a long residual which lasts up to 90 days. It would be a great choice.
November 7, 2010 Curious asked:
QShould I mix Demand CS with Suspend SC and Gentrol?
I've seen the ability to mix Gentrol with either Demand or Suspend, but can all 3 be mixed? Seems this would offer the best combo for heavy knock down, lingering kill, and nymph control to potentially pyrethin resistant bed bugs. Also, can you confirm the pyrethrin resistance rumored in bed bug populations?
AThere are indeed strains of bedbugs that are resistant to synthetic pyrethroid insecticides. Synthetic pyrethroids such as Suspend SC and Demand CS are the man-made versions of natural pyrethrin insecticides such as Exciter or Pyganic Pro. There is no valid reason to mix Suspend SC and Demand CS together, it would not make either product work better or produce better results, though it could make treated areas repellent to bedbugs lessening the effectiveness of the treatment. Both Demand CS and Suspend SC can be mixed with Gentrol IGR for a good knockdown and to break the growth cycle of the bedbugs and their eggs. If you do have a problem with a pyrethroid resistant bedbug population, you should use Phantom and Gentrol together. Phantom is not a pyrethroid, it is from a class of insecticides called pyrrole and there is no known resistance from bedbugs to this product. We also highly recommend that you use an aerosol with a straw attachment such as Phantom aerosol for the small cracks and crevices and a dust such as MotherEarth D for long lasting residual control.

Brett from Lancaster, Oh asked:
QThe best all around spray for general use
What ever the gentleman that took care of our place before we relocated used was excellent. It was safe for pets and it had no odor. Is seemed to last foreever we would find dead insects on the floor up to a year later. He sprayed the same thing inside and outside the house and garage and we had no issues. I would love to find something like that. I have been reading but now I am confused.
A Demand CS would be a great choice for general pest control. It will hold up well to UV rays and rain and because it is a micro-encapsulated it works a little bit like a time released formula. Of course it will only kills those pests that contacted a treated surface so flying insects will always be a little bit harder to kill versus the crawling ones but Demand will take care of just about anything!

Austin from Detroit, Mi asked:
I have a one gallon sprayer for applying DemandCS. I have an unfinished basement that has some drywall in spots. There are a fair amount of spiders so I am trying to take care of that. When I spray along the top edge of the basement, after a few minutes I return and the application has dripped down the wall somewhat. Also around the windows you can see it dripping. I have the most fine nozzle I can put on the sprayer. Any techniques for this?
A The dripping of the Demand CS even after spraying on the fine mist setting can be a direct result of the actual sprayer or because you are spraying with your nozzle too close to the application area. Try standing and positioning the tip of your wand further back to test for drip and if it still happens maybe try purchasing another sprayer that is more of a professional brand such as out B&G Sprayers.

Fauna from Nj asked:
QBiting gnat/noseeums infestation in every room of a large 4 floors house. What's the best plan of action?
No idea where they are coming from. Plants and drains seem to be free of them. Tried vacuuming every other day for weeks now. Fogging didn't work, maybe got more of them via open windows? Impossible to be still anywhere. Want products as a space spray for most active areas, and for rugs, and for general cleaning. Need to be careful around kids/dogs "licking" surfaces. Can be multiple products.
Biting midges do generally not enter structures, but midges are small enough to get through 16 mesh screens. Getting mesh screens with a higher number can keep these and other very tiny insects out of your home. Our experts recommend using a pyrethrin spray such as 565 Plus or Microcare to get rid of the adult midges in or around your home. Non-biting midges are attracted to lights, so it is recommended to draw your shades at night and wait as long as possible to turn on exterior lights to keep them away from your home. Using the FlyWeb Fly Light inside the home works great on flying insects inside the home. A great prodcut to use indoors and outdoors on your home that is safe for pets and kids once it has dried it called Onslaught. Onslaught can be used as a broadcast over carpeted areas inside the home mixing at 1oz per gallon of water. Spraying a product such as Onslaught on window screens, doors, bushes, and plants around your home can act as midge repellant to keep midges away.

Alisha from New Mexico asked:
What are the ingredients in your product? How safe is it? I just had this product sprayed in my home and the company said it is safe. However, I want to know what is the recommended time frame between spraying and they also told me it is safe. After looking at he answered questions it says its safe when it is dried and to keep away for 2 hours. I am in my home when they sprayed and i was told it was safe.
Demand CS is safe once it is dry. The active ingredient in Demand CS is lambda-cyhalothrin. The timeframe to re-enter your home is between 1-2 hours. If the product has already dried around your home, it is safe to enter and/or be in the rooms that were sprayed. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

QWould Demand CS be good for preventative termite and aint crawlspace maintenance?

Ken from Manchester, Nh asked:
QDoes Demand CS kill bird mites?
Demand CS is not labeled for mites.
Here is our best advice on mite control: It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with mites. Have the suspected mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for mites. If you do indeed have mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead rodent on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use Cimexa Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs. We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

Mario from Summerville, South Carolina asked:
QHow to get do I rid of caterpillars invading my house.
I've already sprayed a chemical from Home Depot around my house a couple of months ago and now they are back.
A You can use a product like Demand CS around the perimeter of the home and inside as well. We have a great video here for General Spray Application to show you where to spray. Demand CS should be applied once a month outside and once every 90 days inside. It will not provide an instant knockdown but will instead continue to kill after it has dried.

George from Virginia asked:
QIs Demand CS better than Suspend Polyzone fo stink bugs
I've great success with Demand CS over the past several years, using it on the outside of my house to kill stink bugs. Suspend Polyzone seems to be a newer alternative. Is it better than Demand CS. Suspend advertises it as lasting longer?
Demand CS is still a great product on stink bugs and other pest. If it is working we recommend to stick with it. Suspend Polyzone has a Polymer protecting the active ingredient which would give you a longer lasting residual.
