How Demand CS Works
To understand how Demand CS works you must first know what it is. Demand CS is a microencapsulated water-based formulation offering superior insect control. Compared to older pyrethroid materials that have been used for many years with declining results, it is up to 200 times more active on flies and other animal health pests allowing lower rates. And it’s designed not only to work better, but to work longer. Demand CS controls over 30 insect pests including: Ants, Bees, Carpet Beetles, Centipedes, Cigarette Beetles, Cockroaches, Confused Flour Beetles, Firebrats, Fleas, Ticks, and more.
Demand CS combines an advanced generation pyrethroid with a unique capsule suspension formulation for outstanding protection against numerous perimeter insect pests.
Once the formulation has been applied and dried, lambda-cyhalothrin, the active ingredient, is released from the capsules. Control will occur primarily through direct contact of the insect pest with the capsules, with lambda-cyhalothrin transferring directly from the capsule to the cuticle of the insect. It is also possible for the capsules to be ingested in the case of insect pests which preen themselves such as cockroaches.
Large variety of yard, home and ornamental pests, including but not limited to:

Use in the Following Areas:
In, on and around buildings and structures for the control of listed pests, including on lawns, ornamental trees and shrubs around residential, institutional, public, commercial, agricultural and industrial buildings; and parks, recreational areas and athletic fields; food handling establishments; livestock/poultry house structures; pet kennels.
- Use as a crack and crevice treatment only. May apply at 21-day intervals. Remove pets or children from treatment area until product is dry.
- For bed bugs – Use 0.2-0.4 fl. oz./gal. of water. Do not apply to bedding or to mattresses or furniture surfaces where people will be laying or sitting.
- May be converted to a foam for treatment in structural voids.
- 1 Gallon of finished solution will generally cover 1,000 square feet when using a hand pump sprayer for spot or perimeter treatments.
- If using a hose-end sprayer, calibrate to 0.2, 0.4, or 0.8 ounces, and use 1-5 gallons of water per 800-1600 square feet. Higher volume applications will result in better coverage, particularly for mosquito control.
- For ornamental pests – Use 1.5 – 5 fl. oz (44-148 mL) / 100 gallons of water – May be applied at 7-day intervals if necessary. Use lower dilution rates for more frequent applications or limit to spot treatment. The addition of a spreader sticker may increase application to waxy foliage.
- When using large tank mixtures, use a buffering agent if necessary to keep pH from 5-7.
- For lawn and turfgrass pests – Use 3.4-7 mL/1000 square feet or 5-10 fl. oz. / Acre
- For thatch or subsurface inhabiting pests, use irrigation after application or higher water volumes to carry the active ingredient to the target pests.

We live at the base of the McDowell Mountains in North Scottsdale where crickets, spiders and scorpions are everywhere. I applied Demand CS right before sunset and the following morning it looked like an atomic bomb went off in my yard. Dead crickets, black widow spiders, cockroaches and last but not least the follow evening a slowly dying scorpion in our bedroom that accidentally crossed the wrong path. In nearly three weeks since we applied the product, I have yet to see ONE single cricket, spider, or cockroach. Great product!

We own a log home and have been plagued by carpenter bees. We have tried several other products: powders, liquids, professional and home store strengths and this is by far the best! It is non staining and easy to apply with a garden pump sprayer. After application, we watched the bees hover a minute and then decide to take up residence somewhere else. Those that stuck it out, were dead in the morning. It is almost instantaneous! We also applied it to our barn and found it killed bugs that we didn't even know we had a problem with. Try this product= it works!!!

Ants, crickets, and roaches no more...
By Gregory in Tempe, AZ on 04/15/2009
We have tried several pest control companies to eradicate our recurring summer sewer roach problem to no avail. When the city treats the sewer drains and manholes, the roaches come into our yard and house. We also live in an area with crickets and tiny black ants. Nothing seemed to stop everything until we tried Demand CS. I read the label carefully and found that the strongest wipe out dose was for scorpions. I carefully measured, mixed, and sprayed the yard, block wall, foundation, windows and doors. The next morning was like a nuclear winter. Dead roaches, ants, and crickets everywhere. Our gardener cleaned them up like leaves. We now use the maintenance dose every three months and have not had a pest in a year. Awesome Stuff!!!

This is magic!
By Steve on 09/04/2008
Bought a neglected house with roaches all over the yard. After spraying 24 gallons of Dursban over a two month period I was still seeing too many roaches to count at night. I put Demand CS down and the next morning had over 60 dead roaches, 30+ more the following day and in 1 month and only 2 applications I'm down to 1 or 2 a day outside (dead) and none inside in a month. I've been outside at 11pm on hot nights and not seen one live roach! This is magic.

Got this for bed bugs. I combined it with Gentrol and b-cyfluthrin. It seems to finally have gotten rid of them. Tried deltamethrin products before with no luck. The b-cyfluthrin seems to irritate them and make them come out and get exposed. Then it's curtains for them. The Demand CS is not as odorous as the b-cyfluthrin. The b-cyfluthrin has a strong odor. It will go away after drying but is rough while spraying. But it is worth it!

Got it for bed bugs with Demand CS and the Gentrol IGR. Had a pretty good infestation in my old apartment, well over 50 bugs and uncountable eggs. Just so happened that I was moving anyway so I thought my problems were solved if I cleaned everything well and brushed everything down with an over the counter deltamethrin solution before the move; not the case. I found about 15 bugs about a week after my move the first time I checked my mattress and bed springs. After first use of the sprays (I tank mixed them all together) I found about 8 bugs 2 weeks later, 2 more weeks down to two, now have not found any, checking about three times for over a month. Guess it works :)

Demand CS gets a 5 star rating from me. It does an excellent job in killing those nasty stink bugs that have been lurking about this year. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to get rid of stink bugs or any other bugs you want to get rid of in and around your home.

I had tried everything for my massive black widow infestation. It was out of control with spiders bigger than an inch everywhere. All other insecticides did near nothing unless you soaked the spiders with it. I sprayed it yesterday afternoon, paying special attention to cracks, wood fences and wall corners. Today my back yard and front and side porches are a wasteland of dead spiders. I don't even know where they were hiding, but they are all dead. I cannot recommend this product enough for dangerous spider infestations.

It's a Miracle!
By Ron in Mesa, AZ on 07/23/2010
Moved into a new house last October, have been fighting every bug possible since - stink bugs, crickets, ants, scorpions, mosquitoes, spiders. Used a blacklight one night, found a dozen scorpions in our back yard wall in one night alone. My personal favorite have been finding those large hairy spiders that run faster than lightning. Sprayed Demand about 3 weeks ago, have probably counted a total of 5 bugs outside. Have yet to see a single scorpion or large spider since. This stuff has earned it's keep!

Works as advertised
By Tom in Omaha, Neb on 04/23/2009
I bought Demand CS because we get Yellow Sac spiders in our house and I was concerned about the safety of my children. Yellow Sac spiders are an aggressive night hunter which are probably more dangerous than the Brown Recluse. I applied Demand to the outside of the house as a barrier. This stuff is simply amazing. It's like a hand came up and wiped the side of the house of insects. Oh, you'll see a spider, drunkenly, walking around. Keep watching him because he's already dead and doesn't know it. Works completely as advertised with just the slightest hint of an odor when applied and none after it dries. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love this product!

When we moved into our house a few years ago we had a major cockroach problem outside around our jasmine covered arbor and deck. Since using Demand CS the problem is NON-EXISTENT. I haven't even seen a dead roach in almost 2 years. Absolutely love the product.

Ask a Question
QWhat's the difference between Demand CS and Suspend SC?
ABoth products have an active ingredient that is classified as a synthetic pyrethroid, so they really are very similar in the way that they work. Suspend SC contains the active ingredient deltamethrin and is a bit more versatile when it comes to bedbug treatments though as it can be sprayed on mattresses, carpets (spot treat only) and on furniture (crack and crevice only). Demand CS cannot. Demand CS contains the active ingredient lambda-cyhalothrin, and it is micro encapsulated which will make it last a little bit longer in outdoor applications.
QIs Demand CS safe to use around children and pets?
What's the risk of transfer since Demand CS is capsulated? For instance, we have hardwood floors and we vacuum the floors and the baseboards. Can the insecticide be transferred from the vacuum to another surface (such as when vacuum rugs and couches) and increase the risk of contact?
AIf you are applying the product correctly, it should only be in cracks and crevices and other closed off areas. There should not be any issues with transfer effect like you are speaking of. Once you apply Demand CS, the tiny microscopic balls of insecticide will bond to porous surfaces and will not be removed by general cleaning or vacuuming. You should allow 30 minutes after application for the product to dry before cleaning or allowing children and pets to re-enter the room.
QDoes Demand CS kill stinkbugs?
AAbsolutely. Although stink bugs are not specifically on the label, the active ingredient Lambda Cyhalothrin in the Demand CS has shown great results on Stink Bugs. Many of our customers buy Demand CS for stinkbugs and the customer feedback has been great in regards to the results.
QShould I mix Demand CS with Suspend SC and Gentrol?
I've seen the ability to mix Gentrol with either Demand or Suspend, but can all 3 be mixed? Seems this would offer the best combo for heavy knock down, lingering kill, and nymph control to potentially pyrethin resistant bed bugs. Also, can you confirm the pyrethrin resistance rumored in bed bug populations?
AThere are indeed strains of bedbugs that are resistant to synthetic pyrethroid insecticides. Synthetic pyrethroids such as Suspend SC and Demand CS are the man-made versions of natural pyrethrin insecticides such as Exciter or Pyganic Pro. There is no valid reason to mix Suspend SC and Demand CS together, it would not make either product work better or produce better results, though it could make treated areas repellent to bedbugs lessening the effectiveness of the treatment. Both Demand CS and Suspend SC can be mixed with Gentrol IGR for a good knockdown and to break the growth cycle of the bedbugs and their eggs. If you do have a problem with a pyrethroid resistant bedbug population, you should use Phantom and Gentrol together. Phantom is not a pyrethroid, it is from a class of insecticides called pyrrole and there is no known resistance from bedbugs to this product. We also highly recommend that you use an aerosol with a straw attachment such as Phantom aerosol for the small cracks and crevices and a dust such as MotherEarth D for long lasting residual control.
QWhat is the best product for killing box elder bugs?
AWe have numerous products that are labeled for killing box elder bugs that work excellent. Demand CS is definitely one of our most popular and will work great on box elder bugs. In addition, Demand CS is labeled for almost any other insect you could have an issue with and can be used safely indoors as well as outdoors. It also has a long residual which lasts up to 90 days. It would be a great choice.

QIs Demand CS safe to use on roses, hydrangeas, other flowering shrubs, and perennials, as well as lawn?
ADemand CS when applied per label should not harm non edible ornamental vegetation.

QThe best insecticide to kill pine bark bettles?
I submitted another question earlier, so this is a 2nd question. I have pine bark beetles from time to time. I have been spraying the trunk of the tree with Permethrin 36.5% as high as my sprayer goes - maybe 12-15 ft saturating the tree. Is this effective. (I just ordered another 32 oz bottle along with my Demand Cs order) Is this the best I can do?
AThe best product for pine bark beetles is the Permethrin spray you have been using. The biggest key with this insect is timing to ensure the infestation doesn't get out of hand. Once the tree is infested there isnt much you can do other than chop down the tree and burn it to try and prevent the current live ones from getting into any neighboring trees.
QHow often should I use the demand CS for bed bugs?
AAccording to the Demand CS product label you can use Demand CS every 21 days as part of your bedbug control program.
QHow can I use Demand CS to help get rid of mosquitoes on my property?
Our lot is partially thickly wooded. When we sit outside at night, we have a mosquito problem. How do we apply Demand CS to protect us outdoors? Can you use Demand CS with a fogger or a garden hose measuring applier?
ADemand CS can be applied using just about any type of sprayer including a hose end sprayer. The hose end sprayer needs to be able to be calibrated to 0.8 fl.oz. (24mL) of product per gallon of water. A good choice would be the Chapin Hose End Sprayer 6005. Mosquitoes must land on the treated areas to be killed so be sure you are spraying the areas where they are known to land such as the underside of the leaves on trees and shrubs. It is also helpful to spray a 2 ft wide band around the perimeter of your property to deter low flying mosquitoes from entering.
QIs spraying Demand CS to eliminate bed bugs in the house perfectly safe for my children under 8, and my dogs?
AUsing Demand CS indoors for bedbugs is safe as long as you follow the Demand CS product label. Be sure to have all children and pets out of the area while you are doing the application and they can return as soon as the treated area is dry.
QWhat is the dilution per gallon as well as the outdoor coverage area for Demand CS for tick control?
If I fill my 2 gallon hand sprayer, what amount of Demand CS do I need to add? What kind of coverage can I typically get from it? I am spraying a section of my yard that is lightly wooded, no grass, mostly leaves and branches. I am solely concerned with controlling the tick population. I have read the booklet that came with the product but it is a little vague, ie outdoor surfaces. The Archer IGR is much more clear in its instructions. For Demand CS, I think I need to use 7.5 ml/gallon which should yield about 1500 sqft coverage. Does this sound correct? Thanks so much.
AYou can use 0.2 fl.oz. (6mL), 0.4 fl.oz. (12mL). or 0.8 fl.oz. (24mL) of Demand CS per gallon of water. We recommend using the highest concentration for the initial treatment and then, depending on how bad the infestation is, you can use 0.2 - 0.4 fl oz for the monthly follow up treatments. According to the product label, this is the most effective way to treat for ticks using Demand CS: "To control nuisance ticks (e.g. dog ticks) apply to kennels, yards, runs, and other areas where pets may frequent. For best coverage to control ticks, apply using a coarse fan spray to vegetation brush, branches, rock walls, and other areas near habitation where ticks may harbor or frequent. Treat entire area rather than making spot treatments, and retreat as necessary to maintain control. Do not apply to pasture or cropland, and do not allow animals and people access to treated areas until the deposit has dried. Applications can be made on a monthly basis, beginning in the spring and can continue until frost to control both larvae and adult ticks"
QWhat is the best product for a tick infestation?
I live in Hawaii and due to the year round warmth, ticks are EVERYWHERE. I absolutely loathe ticks, but somehow my home has become their home too. I have a dog who is on Biospot Flea and Tick treatment, but it doesn't seem to work so we're switching to Frontline or Advantix. Yesterday, I found seven ticks in my home, two of which were already engorged, so they've been feeding. I believe they're brown dog ticks from the pictures I've found. The two engorged ones were on wall and floor, and the others have been on blankets, baseboards, floor, and in the shower. My husband sprayed the yard with Ortho Max about a 3 weeks ago and they're already back. I believe it's the dog bringing them in from the yard and my husband on his uniform since he's in the Army and is always going to the ranges and laying down in the grass and dirt. From what I've read, Demon WP seems to be the hardest hitting for ticks and is safe for indoor and outdoor use, as well as pet friendly when dry. I'm also looking at Demand CS and Talstar P (Talstar One), and Permetherin SFR 36.8%. Talstar P actually had a 5 star review for killing off brown dog ticks. What is the best product for my situation? I would like to only treat outdoors if possible, but indoors may be necessary too. I want to completely disintegrate these ticks. Any other bug I can handle, but not ticks. We also have centipedes in Hawaii (HUGE ones), and although there haven't been any in my home, I'd like to use something that works for them too, just in case. Thank you so much.
A Demon WP or Demand CS would be great choices for tick control. A wettable powder (Demon WP) or a microencapsulated formulation (Demand CS) might offer the best chance of particles of the active ingredient clinging to the ticks as they move across the surface. Demand CS may be the best choice for you because it does not leave a visible residue like the Demon WP can. Ideally, the indoor application would be made into every possible crevice in the room where the female ticks could go, but this could be a daunting effort. Try to picture where the ticks will wander for a place to hide, such as behind floor molding would be an obvious one. They might get up under stuffed furniture, behind pictures on the walls, inside dressers and other items in your home. All of these areas should be treated. We recommend using an IGR such as Archer IGR in combination with the insecticide that you choose. IGRs (insect growth regulators) will interrupt the growth cycle of juvenile ticks which will stop them from being able to mate and lay eggs. We also recommend using an insecticide dust such as Pyganic dust. Dusts have a much longer residual than liquids and they can be applied inside of wall voids where ticks may hide. For outdoor areas, you use the combination of insecticide and IGR.Tie a white cloth to a stick or broom handle and drag the cloth around over the lawn and grassy areas, and examine the cloth for ticks, which will latch onto the material as it passes by. Areas where ticks are found can be can be treated. You should also treat any tall growth or shrubs.

QIs Demand CS better than Phantom and Cyzmic CS for bedbugs?
ACyzmic CS is the generic equivalent of Demand CS and works exactly the same for bedbug infestations. Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide that insects cannot detect and therefore readily walk over treated surfaces. Phantom is not a synthetic pyrethroid like Demand CS or Cyzmic CS and so far bedbugs have not shown any resistance to the active ingredient in Phantom. The one downside to Phantom is that it can take 7-10 days to kill the bedbugs that come into contact with treated areas and in that time period they can continue to bite and lay eggs. Demand CS and Cyzmic CS do have a faster kill rate than Phantom.
QHow much Demand CS should I use per gallon of water?
AThe final concentration will really depend on what pest you are treating for and where you are treating. You will add between 6ml-24ml per gallon of water. Please take a few minutes to read through the Demand CS product label to find the appropriate concentration for your needs.
QIf using outdoors, how many sq feet does one bottle of Demand CS cover?
AHow large of an area Demand CS covers outside is all dependent on what you are treating for, how strong you mix it, and how thick the ground cover is you are spraying it on. An 8 ounce bottle of Demand CS will treat anywhere from 10,000 sq. feet to 40,000 sq. feet. You should read the product label for exact calculations based on your specific situation.
