Demize EC

Get rid of pesky fleas with Demize EC, an excellent choice for light or heavy flea infestations. Unlike many insecticides that leave you with an unpleasant lingering after-scent, Demize EC has a pleasant orange scent that deodorizes the air as you spray. Demize EC is concentrated liquid that should be added to water and directly applied with a gallon sprayer to problem areas such as rugs, carpets, furniture, pet bedding, baseboards, and cracks and crevices. Apply 3 fl oz per gallon of water for each 1000 square feet for heavy infestations, and 2 fl oz per gallon of water for each 1000 square feet for lighter infestations. While Demize EC is safe to use on pet resting areas, it should never be applied directly to your pet. 16 fl oz.

For heavy infestations, combine with an IGR product such as Nylar IGR for quicker knockdown and effective control.

Mix Demize EC with Nylar IGR and Conquer EC to get quick knockdown, long residual control of adults and up to 210 days of insect growth regulation.

4 of 5 stars  Demize EC
By Jc in Onalaska, Texas on 07/24/2011

It took three applications of Demize EC and Precor IGR to finally control the sand flea infestation which is epidemic due to a severe drought here in East Texas. The first application was done with four ounces of Demize and two ounces of Precor in two gallons of water which was sprayed onto the floor in two successive application on immediately after the other. The second and third applications were done with two ounces of Demize and one ounce of Precor in one gallon of water. The second application was done a week after the initial treatment and third application was done a week after the second application. It thus took two weeks (fifteen days) to do the three treatments, and about eighteen days after the first application the fleas had disappeared. Haven't had any more fleas since. The only thing I found slightly objectionable about Demize EC is the odor. But it is a trade off between an "orange" scent and the normal insecticide chemical odor. Fortunately it didn't linger for very long. It is a small price to pay for the effectiveness demonstrated by a mixture of Demize EC and Precor IGR.

Tried your product for the first time. I am sold on it. Sprayed for fleas and this stuff worked on first spraying, by this I mean that it killed almost all of them with 1 application. Keep up the good work.

I own a dog kennel and use Demize EC for our flea control. It works absolutely great. It is easy to dilute and has a good dilution ratio. While I wouldn't call the smell fantastic it's not offensive and, more importantly, it dissipates quickly. I recommend this product for flea control and/or problems.

I have been using this product along with Precor for several years after doing some in depth research on flea control.Having 4 cats and a dog it sometimes gets to be a challenge when the flea season starts. The key to controlling fleas is to vaccuum and spray on a regular basis, normally every other day for a week.I treat the wood floors and furniture with no problems to either and no side effects to the animals.Very Happy!!

Used Demize EC and Precor IGR as per labels for heavy flea infestation; the results, after application, were more than positive. The family of five had been a blood meal for fleas till the application of Demize EC and Precor IGR to their home. I would recommend this product and I do enjoy its pleasant scent.

By Terry in California on 02/08/2013

I've tried many products in different combinations to battle a flea infestation. It's really weird, we never find adult fleas any more, probably due to using an insect growth regulator (Nylar), but we are still plagued with the larvae. It seems spraying regularly is the only way to fight them so we wanted something less toxic. Demize fits the bill but it only helps for a few days.

This product did not perform the way I expected .. We still had multiple flea outbreaks after spraying heavily in infested areas.. It did seem to be more effective outdoors though.

It provided a good knockdown and when mixed with Nygard and Precor, the fleas seemed to be much less bothersome, but I still had fleas. Try Temprid or Onslaught if you want a residual kill

Having a problem with fleas, and with in-and-out cats and dogs, we needed something that would not only kill adults in the bedding and carpeting, but KEEP the protection going long enough to get the animals cleared up, too. Inside of a week, we saw dramatic improvement after we started using the DEMIZE EC, and after two weeks, have about eliminated the problem in every corner of the property. That hasn't meant spraying every day, but spot-treating areas we may have missed the first time around. We recommended to our neighbors that they get some of this product, because all of our pets share house-time with each other.

Did not live up to the proclamation professed on the advertising site. Used two strong strength applications only to discovered Demize EC not circumvent all life stages of the flea and its reproduction life stages. Follow the instructions to the letter--fleas and their soon to be cohorts are back as seemingly thicker than before.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
We do recommend to use an Insect Growth Regulator along with your adulticide when treating for fleas, along with regular vacuuming and treating the pets with products approved for this use. A good IGR to use with Demize EC indoors would be Precor Concentrate: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/precor-igr-concentrate-p-72.html. You can view more tips and videos about treating for fleas indoors and out in our Flea Control Pest Guide: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/how-to-get-rid-of-fleas-a-483.html

QCan I add Premethrin SFR to Demize EC and Precor IGR
While I used Demize EC and Precor IGR, it knocked fleas down during the minutes Demize was wet on a hardwood floor, the fleas came back within hours full force and vacuuming every day to reduce it is not helping much as each round catches over 25 adult fleas alive, although they seem to be getting smaller in sizes. I understand Premethrin has a residual that will continue to kill these young adult fleas for up to two weeks after a spray as the fleas walk across/in the areas such as cracks i sprayed. Could I simply add Premethrin to the Demize EC/Precor IGR mixture or does Premethrin have such as fast knockdown there is no point to Demize being used with it during a single spray of 1000sq ft?

AMixing Demize EC + Precor + Permethrin SFR would be a great idea. You will have the quick knockdown of Demize EC, plus residual power of Permethrin SFR, Plus residual IGR power. Be sure to follow the label instructions for mixing.

QI ordered Demize EC for flea control. I have four cats indoors, plus outside cats that live under my porch, is this product going to do the job?

ADemize EC is a great choice for flea control because it kills all stages of fleas.  It is also very safe for use around pets.  However, if you have a bad infestation, we highly recommend adding its counterpart, NyGuard IGR.  Adding the NyGuard IGR, will provide long term control and slow down the fleas ability to reproduce which will provide quicker results.

QHello, is Demize EC a good product to use indoor to spray ticks? Any recommendations?

ADemize EC is not labeled for tick control. We recommend the items that come in out Tick Control Kit.

The Tick Control Kit provides you with the professional products necessary to control ticks in and around your home. Unlike other kits you may find, the Do My Own Pest Control kits contain the most effective products available based on the most current research. This kit contains 1 quart (32 oz.) bottle of Permethrin SFR 36.8% and 1 pint (16 oz.) bottle of Archer IGR. Please read below for more information.

Permethrin SFR is a broad spectrum insecticide that offers a quick knockdown of target pests as well as a long lasting residual that lasts for about 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors. This product may be used indoors and outdoors on turf, lawns, and ornamentals.

Archer IGR is an Insect Growth Regulator that is also photo-stable, meaning that it does not break down easily in direct sunlight. You can use Archer IGR to control insect populations both indoors and outdoors. The Archer IGR unique mode of action disrupts the life cycle of ants, fleas, flies, ticks, cockroaches, mosquitoes and beetles leading to effective population control.

QHow long should I wait before letting my young children back in the house after spraying Demize?
I would assume that it needs to simply dry first, but I couldn't find any information on the contaner or the website that answers my question.

AYou are correct! You want to wait until the treated area has dried. This will normally take approx 1-2 hours.

QHow long should I wait to vacuum after the carpets are treated with Demize EC?
I want to make sure I am giving the chemical enough time to work, but I don't want to stop vacuuming. How often should I vacuum after a treatment? Daily?

AWe would recommend waiting until Demize EC is dry before continuing to vacuum. If you are treating for fleas, you will vacuum daily for 14 days and then do a second treatment and continue to vacuum daily.

QIn the past I used Precor or Nylar Demize. Will these work with bed bugs and roaches?
It killed and control fleas , spiders, etc..

ADemize EC and Precor IGR are only labeled for fleas and would not work for roaches or bed bugs.  For bed bugs we would recommend one of our Bed Bug Control kits here.  Which kit you choose depends on the number of rooms you need to treat.  For roaches we would recommend Roach Control Kit #1 be used along with the products in the bed bug kit you choose.

QWill one application of Demize EC work to kill a flea infestation?

A

Demize EC kills all stages or fleas on contact only and will not leave any residual that will continue to kill after it has tried, so one application will not completely eliminate fleas.  Mixing Demize EC + NyGuard IGR + Onslaught would be a great idea. You will have the quick knockdown of Demize EC, plus residual power of Onslaught, plus residual IGR power. Be sure to follow the label instructions for mixing.  Please read over our "How to Get Rid of Fleas" article as well for further advice.
