D-fense SC is a powerful suspended concentrate (SC) deltamethrin that provides excellent control of a wide variety of insect pests including bed bugs, ants, fleas, flies, silverfish, spiders and cockroaches. Provides a 2-3 month residual for long-term insect control.

INSECT CONTROL

INDOORS

D-FENSE SC may be applied in and around residential and non-residential buildings including residential kitchens and food/feed handling establishments.

Mix D-FENSE SC with water and apply indoors as a crack and crevice, spot or general surface treatment with hand pressurized or power operated sprayers or other suitable equipment.

For residential buildings and structures - apply only as a crack and crevice or spot treatment.

Crack and Crevice: Apply D-FENSE SC spray mixture to cracks and crevices in and around baseboards, floors, walls, appliances, areas around water and sewer pipes, and other voids with a low pressure system using a pinpoint or variable pattern nozzle.

Spot Treatment: Apply D-FENSE SC as a spot treatment in and around cupboards, and between, beneath and behind equipment or appliances using a low pressure system with fan-type nozzle.

OUTDOORS

Apply D-FENSE SC as a perimeter treatment, residual spray or broadcast application to lawns, grounds and ornamental plantings.

Apply as a perimeter treatment or residual spray around residential and non-residential settings. Treatments should begin at the first sighting of pests.

Residual Spray: Apply D-FENSE SC as a coarse low-pressure spray at the rate of 0.75 to 1.5 fl.oz. to surfaces of buildings, porches, screens, window frames, eves, patios, refuse dumps, garages and lawns.

Perimeter Treatments: For best results, apply D-FENSE SC to areas where pests are seen and may find entrance. Treat a band of soil or lawn up to 6 -10 feet wide around and adjacent to buildings and treat the building foundation to a height of 2 to 3 feet. Apply as a coarse spray at the rate of 0.25 to 1.5 fl. oz. of D-FENSE SC in sufficient amount of water. (See Mixing Directions for Perimeter Application below). Use an adequate volume to thoroughly and uniformly wet the barrier area but do not allow run-off to occur.

    By Herbert on 01/07/2012

I give this product a ZERO rating for cockroaches. We have applied every drop of what we bought and it seems the roaches are actually thriving on the elixor. We have found no evidence of dead roaches and in fact on several occasions, i have seen them actually drinking the liquid as it was being applied. I wouldn't waste my money on this product again.

Working in the pest industry , CSI is a pretty well known brand. I would not consider it a generic. Maybe not a monster player like Bayer , but they have great quality products. The D Fense version works just as well as Suspend SC while saving some cash. We use it primarily primarily for outdoor tick control. Gentle on foliage as it it labled for use on ornamental plants. We treat in summer heat and never a issue on turf, trees, and plants No odor and no staining.

    1 of 5 stars  D - Fense SC
By Eduardo in Kissimmee, Fla on 11/14/2014

I live in a house which is daily cleaned and where only me and my wife reside. When we moved 2 months ago we noticed many roaches walking around, mostly small ones. Tried conventional products from Home Depot and nothing worked...I found this product online and decided to give it a chance, seemed really good...sadly didn't fill my expectations...roaches still having a field day in spite that tried making the mix stronger and fumigating almost every other day the whole house. Very disappointed...won't recommend

    Expert Response   Expert response:
If you are seeing smaller roaches, especially on a daily basis, then we would recommend using an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) and a Roach Bait Gel in conjunction with your residual spray. We sell both a bait and and IGR together in our Roach Control Kit #1: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/roach-control-kit-p-1058.html Be sure only to mix products according to the label directions; using too much product can be unsafe and ineffective. We are not certain what you mean by "fumigation," but we do not recommend repeat treatments with foggers or bug bombs for roach control. Foggers will kill exposed insects at the time of treatment, but they can often irritate the insects and cause them to retreat farther into their hiding places, making treatment more difficult. As always, we are happy to assist you by telephone at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST.

QD-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar)
Do you guys have any opinions in comparing D-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar) for a generic spray insecticide? How is one better than the other? What are the pros/cons of each? Should I use both (one indoor vs one outdoor)? I have a family with young children living with me, so obviously they'd have to be safe. Looking for your opinions comparing the two.

ABoth the D-Fense SC and the Bifen IT contain synthetic pyrethroids for active ingredients and will provide very similar results. The only advantage to using Bifen IT is that it is known to be super gentle on most plants (do not use on edible vegetation). Both products can be used indoors and outdoors and both products are safe to use in houses with children and pets.

QHow do Suspend SC and this differ?

AD-Fense SC Insecticide with Deltamethrin has the same active ingredient as Suspend SC Insecticide, but is much less expensive. D-Fense SC is actually the generic form of Suspend SC.

QIs D-Fense SC as safe as Suspend SC? I have many kids playing in a yard treated with Suspend. Needs to be as safe.

AD-Fense SC contains the same active ingredient as Suspend SC so you will need to follow the same precautions as you would if you were using Suspend SC. Children need to be out of the area while you are applying the D-Fense SC and they can safely come back in the area as soon as it is dry.

QHow many linear feet of indoor space will 1 gallon of D-Fense (diluted/mixed) cover?
I am considering doing my own home pest control. I have scorpions. I am looking at this as my interior perimeter pesticide. I need to determine how much is required to do my house.

AIt all depends on the person applying it of course, but typically one gallon D-fense will treat 1000 square feet, but if you are only spraying baseboards, underneath appliances, etc....then usually 1/2 gallon of solution is plenty to treat the inside of any home.

QD-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar) Which one is better for fleas?
Which one is better for fleas?

ABoth Talstar and D-fense work great on fleas. Talstar will prove to be a more quick kill. We also recommend mixing in an  insect growth regulator like Nyguard to stop the reproduction process. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

QCan you mix D-Fense SC with paint to spray inside manhole covers?
I found a product online with the same active ingredient that can me mixed with paint. I also read another article where they spray an insecticide mixed with latex paint inside manhole covers in Phoenix to cut down the roach population. This would be to cut down on roaches coming into a commercial building.

A

D-Fense SC may be mixed with latex coatings and oil-based coatings such as stains, varnishes and sealers.

Per the product label for D Fense SC:

Mixing Instructions: Add 1 2/3 fl. oz. to 1 gallon [8 1/3 fl. oz. to 5 gallons] of latex coating (water base), oil base coating, and stains or sealers. Mix well to insure proper dilution.

To control cockroaches in manholes, sewers, sewer cleanouts, floor drains and underground utility vaults. Apply product on manhole walls. Product may be applied via coarse spray using conventional airless spray equipment. Persons applying product in manhole must comply with CLOSED ENTRY requirements of government agencies. Apply treated latex coating with remote access application equipment.

Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.

QIs Demand CS or D-Fense SC better for scorpions?
Deltamethrin (Defense SC) or Lambda-cyhalothrin 9.7% (Demand CS)

A

Both D-Fense SC and Demand CS are labeled for scorpions. Generally speaking, scorpions are drawn to dry areas, and their main sources of food are usually small insects such as crickets and spiders. Keeping your home free of these insects will make it much less likely that scorpions will be a problem, so general pest control is always advisable. If they do get into your home, they are usually found in secluded dry areas such as closets and garages. They have also been known to hide in piles of clothes, particularly ones that have not been moved recently. Eliminating these hiding spaces will go a long way in making your other control efforts more effective.

QHow would I mix D-Fense SC for outdoor application?
I recently purchased D-Fense SC (16 fl oz) and I cannot make sense of the outdoor application mixing directions charts provided with the product. Please tell me how much product I should add to one gallon of water when using it outdoors to get rid of carpenter ants around my home? Thanks.

The correct mixing ratio for D-Fense SC for carpenter ants outdoors is 0.75-1.5 oz. per gallon of water.

QBest Way to Kill Stink Bugs on 2nd & 3rd floor of house.
For some reaon I don't have any stink bugs on my bottom floor of the house, just a few around the windows. But my second and third floor windows that face direct sunlight get covered up anytime the temp outside gets over 60-degress outside. I can vacuum up 50-75 on one widow and come back the next day and have just as many. Being I can't get up this high on the outside of my house and will have to treat the windows and window seals from the inside, would you use something like this product or one of your aerosols?

ATo be honest, this time of year there isnt much you can do for the ones that are inside other than your current efforts of vacuuming them up. Stink bugs and similar beetles start making their way inside your home during the fall and emerge the next spring. To prevent them from getting in, you must spray around the window frames, door frames and eaves and edges of the home they could use as entry points every month from August through November and often December if you are in areas where winter hits later in the year. Once they are already inside, they will stay in crevices for the most part and only appear on warmer days or until spring rolls around. That explains why you see them on the windows of the sunny side of the home as that is what they are drawn to and they are trying to figure out how to get back out of your home. You can put insecticide dusts like Cimexa Dust down in crevices and cracks, around seals and in wall voids by removing the covers from plugs/outlets and light switch plates. You would apply a few puffs of the dust in the voids with a B&G Bulb Duster to get a coating the insects can crawl through and hopefully die from before you start seeing them out in the open crawling around. For spraying around the door/window frames inside and out in the fall the D-Fense SC would work great for your needs.

QULV Fogger Use
I would like to use indoors using a ULV fogger in conjunction with SC dust. What is your opinion?

AD-Fense SC is not labeled to be used in any type of fogger. It is labeled to be used as a crack and crevice treatment in a pump sprayer. The D-Fense dust should only be used inside the wall voids. We cannot recommend using our products off label. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

QHow much ounces per gallon do you have to mix D-Fense SC just for maintenance?

AFor general maintanance, you will use 0.25 fl. oz. of D-Fense SC per gallon of water. This can be sprayed every 21 days. Be sure to remove any pets from the area you are treating.

QD-Fense dust or D-Fense SC Indoors
Not sure if I should use D-Fense dust or SC indoors. My plan was to use dust upstairs in places like kitchen cracks and behind appliances and furniture. Then use SC in larger areas like basement baseboards and boiler room. Is there a preference on when to use each? Or is the dust just meant to get in places where the spray can't like cracks and wall voids and outlets?

AYou can use both the D-Fense Dust and D-Fense SC inside in the areas indicated on the product labels and they would be a great combination to use together for general pest control.  Dusts are applied to cracks and crevices, under baseboards, behind electrical outlets and switch plates and such were liquids can't be applied.  Sprays would be applied along the baseboards and bottom of door frams and around windows and door frames.

QDoes D-Fense SC kill bird mites

AD-Fense SC is not labeled to treat bird mites. It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for bird mites.  If you do indeed have bird mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead bird on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

QIs it safe to use d-fence sc indoors?
I am considering using this product in my basement to get rid of spiders and house centipedes. Are there any harmful chemicals that are omitted into the air when spraying? Should the outside perimeter of the house also be sprayed?

AD-Fense SC is labeled for indoor use. Be sure you read and follow the product label to insure safe usage. D-Fense SC should also be sprayed around the outside perimeter of your home to stop pests from moving in which will in turn limit your need to spray indoors.
