D-Fense SC

D-Fense SC Insecticide with Deltamethrin has the same active ingredient as the popular Suspend SC Insecticide, but is much less expensive.

D-fense SC is a powerful suspended concentrate (SC) deltamethrin that provides excellent control of a wide variety of insect pests including bed bugs, ants, fleas, flies, silverfish, spiders and cockroaches. D-fense SC can be utilized for crack and crevice and spot applications in homes, hotels, schools, businesses and more. D-fense SC is odorless and safe around kids and pets when used as directed. Provides a 2-3 month residual for long-term insect control.

INSECT CONTROL

INDOORS

D-FENSE SC may be applied in and around residential and non-residential buildings including residential kitchens and food/feed handling establishments.

Mix D-FENSE SC with water and apply indoors as a crack and crevice, spot or general surface treatment with hand pressurized or power operated sprayers or other suitable equipment.

For residential buildings and structures - apply only as a crack and crevice or spot treatment.

Crack and Crevice: Apply D-FENSE SC spray mixture to cracks and crevices in and around baseboards, floors, walls, appliances, areas around water and sewer pipes, and other voids with a low pressure system using a pinpoint or variable pattern nozzle.

Spot Treatment: Apply D-FENSE SC as a spot treatment in and around cupboards, and between, beneath and behind equipment or appliances using a low pressure system with fan-type nozzle.

OUTDOORS

Apply D-FENSE SC as a perimeter treatment, residual spray or broadcast application to lawns, grounds and ornamental plantings.

Apply as a perimeter treatment or residual spray around residential and non-residential settings. Treatments should begin at the first sighting of pests.

Residual Spray: Apply D-FENSE SC as a coarse low-pressure spray at the rate of 0.75 to 1.5 fl.oz. to surfaces of buildings, porches, screens, window frames, eves, patios, refuse dumps, garages and lawns.

Perimeter Treatments: For best results, apply D-FENSE SC to areas where pests are seen and may find entrance. Treat a band of soil or lawn up to 6 -10 feet wide around and adjacent to buildings and treat the building foundation to a height of 2 to 3 feet. Apply as a coarse spray at the rate of 0.25 to 1.5 fl. oz. of D-FENSE SC in sufficient amount of water. (See Mixing Directions for Perimeter Application below). Use an adequate volume to thoroughly and uniformly wet the barrier area but do not allow run-off to occur.

    By Herbert on 01/07/2012
    Verified Purchase

I give this product a ZERO rating for cockroaches. We have applied every drop of what we bought and it seems the roaches are actually thriving on the elixor. We have found no evidence of dead roaches and in fact on several occasions, i have seen them actually drinking the liquid as it was being applied. I wouldn't waste my money on this product again.

I mix this with Bifen IT in my gallon-sized sprayer and it makes enough for the perimeter of my 1500sf home and the rock wall around my back yard (where lots of black widows previously lived). Buying these two products saves me over $60 every month (no more pest control appointments). After my 3rd month using this concoction I haven't seen many dead bugs the next morning after spraying which tells me I've got this under control! Thanks for the great products!!!!

By Jim in Fargo, ND on 10/31/2016

The past few years, we have had a problem with lady bugs getting into our house in the fall. I decided to try D-Fence. When I sprayed, it appeared to have no adverse effect on the lady bugs or box elder bugs, as they didn't budge when sprayed. However, the next day there were dead bugs all over the ground. I'm pleased to report that we have yet to see them in the house!

QD-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar)
Do you guys have any opinions in comparing D-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar) for a generic spray insecticide? How is one better than the other? What are the pros/cons of each? Should I use both (one indoor vs one outdoor)? I have a family with young children living with me, so obviously they'd have to be safe. Looking for your opinions comparing the two.

ABoth the D-Fense SC and the Bifen IT contain synthetic pyrethroids for active ingredients and will provide very similar results. The only advantage to using Bifen IT is that it is known to be super gentle on most plants (do not use on edible vegetation). Both products can be used indoors and outdoors and both products are safe to use in houses with children and pets.

QHow do Suspend SC and this differ?

AD-Fense SC Insecticide with Deltamethrin has the same active ingredient as Suspend SC Insecticide, but is much less expensive. D-Fense SC is actually the generic form of Suspend SC.

QIs D-Fense SC as safe as Suspend SC? I have many kids playing in a yard treated with Suspend. Needs to be as safe.

AD-Fense SC contains the same active ingredient as Suspend SC so you will need to follow the same precautions as you would if you were using Suspend SC. Children need to be out of the area while you are applying the D-Fense SC and they can safely come back in the area as soon as it is dry.

QHow many linear feet of indoor space will 1 gallon of D-Fense (diluted/mixed) cover?
I am considering doing my own home pest control. I have scorpions. I am looking at this as my interior perimeter pesticide. I need to determine how much is required to do my house.

AIt all depends on the person applying it of course, but typically one gallon D-fense will treat 1000 square feet, but if you are only spraying baseboards, underneath appliances, etc....then usually 1/2 gallon of solution is plenty to treat the inside of any home.

QD-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar) Which one is better for fleas?
Which one is better for fleas?

ABoth Talstar and D-fense work great on fleas. Talstar will prove to be a more quick kill. We also recommend mixing in an  insect growth regulator like Nyguard to stop the reproduction process. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

QHow long is D-Fense SC good for after its been mixed?

Any insecticide concentrate you use including D-Fense SC you will only want to mix up how much product you plan to use at a time. Mixed insecticides should only be stored for a max of 48 hours.†

QHow long does D-Fense SC last after mixing? Can I use NyGard in it?
Hello, I left a long message yesterday but I can't find a reply. I mixed the SC Defense two nights ago with NyGard. Is it still good to use? Will either one or both still work? Also, there are black carpet beetles in the asphalt composite right outside where my garage door closes - the entire length of the garage door. Same thing with my back door - just to the left of the garage door but about a foot higher. What should I use to treat this? Is it worth it to find the nest(s). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Theresa

A

D-Fense SC should be used within 24 hours of mixing. Nyguard IGR can be mixed with this product. We would not recommend using the mixed solution after 24 hours. We would recommend mixing up another batch to get the best results possible.

QCan D-Fense SC be mixed with Transport Mikron and sprayed at the same time?
My old pest control company used this and Transport Mikron for most effective control (according to them). I'm assuming its ok to mix the two products and spray at the same time?

A

No, it is not necessary to mix two products, such as D-Fense SC and Transport Mikron together when spraying. Mixing two products together has the potential to build up a resistant to them more quickly. These products can be used in a rotation with each other. If you are wanting to use a product to enhance the effectiveness of your products, we would recommend using Exciter. This is a synergist that provides a knockdown and Transport Mikron or D-Fense SC will provide the residual effects.

QIs there a poison or deterrent I can mix with exterior paint to deter Borer Bees in SE GA?
I used to mix my own boat bottom paint many moons ago to deter underwater growth while the boat sat at the dock. I have a huge problem with the big Boarer Bees drilling 3/8" holes in my Pole Barn rafters. Is there a poison or deterrent I can mix with exterior latex and paint on these beams to stop this problem. The bees drill/eat/nest in pressure treated wood and I have heard the only way to stop it partially is by heavy painting. I am extending the Pole Barn and would like to spray the beams and rafters before install. Can you recommend anything I can add to my paint. I can spray with a full face respirator, no one can reach the beams after install, and there are no children around.

A

D-FENSE SC may be mixed with latex coatings and oilbased coatings such as stains, varnishes and sealers for use to kill crawling and flying insects when exposed to treated surfaces. †Please see our Carpenter Bee Treatment article for more information about treating for this pest.

QCan you mix D-Fense SC with paint to spray inside manhole covers?
I found a product online with the same active ingredient that can me mixed with paint. I also read another article where they spray an insecticide mixed with latex paint inside manhole covers in Phoenix to cut down the roach population. This would be to cut down on roaches coming into a commercial building.

A

D-Fense SC may be mixed with latex coatings and oil-based coatings such as stains, varnishes and sealers.

Per the product label for D Fense SC:

Mixing Instructions: Add 1 2/3 fl. oz. to 1 gallon [8 1/3 fl. oz. to 5 gallons] of latex coating (water base), oil base coating, and stains or sealers. Mix well to insure proper dilution.

To control cockroaches in manholes, sewers, sewer cleanouts, floor drains and underground utility vaults. Apply product on manhole walls. Product may be applied via coarse spray using conventional airless spray equipment. Persons applying product in manhole must comply with CLOSED ENTRY requirements of government agencies. Apply treated latex coating with remote access application equipment.

Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.

QIs Demand CS or D-Fense SC better for scorpions?
Deltamethrin (Defense SC) or Lambda-cyhalothrin 9.7% (Demand CS)

A

Both D-Fense SC and Demand CS are labeled for scorpions. Generally speaking, scorpions are drawn to dry areas, and their main sources of food are usually small insects such as crickets and spiders. Keeping your home free of these insects will make it much less likely that scorpions will be a problem, so general pest control is always advisable. If they do get into your home, they are usually found in secluded dry areas such as closets and garages. They have also been known to hide in piles of clothes, particularly ones that have not been moved recently. Eliminating these hiding spaces will go a long way in making your other control efforts more effective.

QHow would I mix D-Fense SC for outdoor application?
I recently purchased D-Fense SC (16 fl oz) and I cannot make sense of the outdoor application mixing directions charts provided with the product. Please tell me how much product I should add to one gallon of water when using it outdoors to get rid of carpenter ants around my home? Thanks.

A

The correct mixing ratio for D-Fense SC for carpenter ants outdoors is 0.75-1.5 oz. per gallon of water.

QBest Way to Kill Stink Bugs on 2nd & 3rd floor of house.
For some reaon I don't have any stink bugs on my bottom floor of the house, just a few around the windows. But my second and third floor windows that face direct sunlight get covered up anytime the temp outside gets over 60-degress outside. I can vacuum up 50-75 on one widow and come back the next day and have just as many. Being I can't get up this high on the outside of my house and will have to treat the windows and window seals from the inside, would you use something like this product or one of your aerosols?

ATo be honest, this time of year there isnt much you can do for the ones that are inside other than your current efforts of vacuuming them up. Stink bugs and similar beetles start making their way inside your home during the fall and emerge the next spring. To prevent them from getting in, you must spray around the window frames, door frames and eaves and edges of the home they could use as entry points every month from August through November and often December if you are in areas where winter hits later in the year. Once they are already inside, they will stay in crevices for the most part and only appear on warmer days or until spring rolls around. That explains why you see them on the windows of the sunny side of the home as that is what they are drawn to and they are trying to figure out how to get back out of your home. You can put insecticide dusts like Cimexa Dust down in crevices and cracks, around seals and in wall voids by removing the covers from plugs/outlets and light switch plates. You would apply a few puffs of the dust in the voids with a B&G Bulb Duster to get a coating the insects can crawl through and hopefully die from before you start seeing them out in the open crawling around. For spraying around the door/window frames inside and out in the fall the D-Fense SC would work great for your needs.

QULV Fogger Use
I would like to use indoors using a ULV fogger in conjunction with SC dust. What is your opinion?

AD-Fense SC is not labeled to be used in any type of fogger. It is labeled to be used as a crack and crevice treatment in a pump sprayer. The D-Fense dust should only be used inside the wall voids. We cannot recommend using our products off label. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
