Natural Guard Crawling Insect Control containing 85% Diatomaceous Earth made from Amorphous DE fresh water type is a natural contact insecticide. Diatomaceous Earth dust works by causing abrasions on insects as they come into contact with product or ingest it. This contact results in the loss of body fluids then dehydration. Double Whammo - Naturally!
By Bryan in Bristow, VA on 05/23/2011
This natural product is a home's best friend. It works best with the bellow duster, because it does not need much to control insects. I found this product far better than the big box store versions. The price-to-product ratio cannot be matched by any other natural-based product. When used properly (light dusting) in a 1800 sq ft house, this product lasts 2 years. What's more, is that this product is safe around children and pets.

I purchased this product, put it down in various places, including doorsill and so far, haven't seen a roach since. I basically wanted some protection against bedbugs entering my apartment from possibly others so since I have used this product, I feel confident that it is doing its job because I did have some roached before I used it and it beats usiing smelly sprays. I have told all of my friends about it especially the ones who own homes, I think it would be excellent for them. I highly recommend this to anyone.

The perfect DE size for the price
By Dollarseed in Cortland, NY on 08/29/2012
When I bought the 4 lb. bag, I was worried that I wouldn't have enough DE for the size of the project I needed it for. Using the bulb duster, not only did I get my project done, but did it with less than 1/2 lb. of DE. That included dusting my 5 raised beds for snails and slugs that are 32 sq. ft. each, my dog's 40 foot run and surrounding areas for fleas, and my seed room 9x12 for Indian Meal Moths. I have enough product left over to do these same areas at least 7 more times.

the good and the bad
By Big in Omaha, NE on 07/24/2012
DE is always a good product to use in an IPM oriented program. It's hard to find locally where I am and DMOPC almost always has what I am looking for. That's the good. The not so good is that I can find DE at other online venues for much lower price as the regular price than offered here. I went ahead and ordered it here this once out of convenience, but as I stock up on DE, I will likely buy it elsewhere based on price comparison.

What a mess
By Jonathan in Meadville, PA on 10/30/2015
It did not work. It did not solve the flea problem. All it did was create a white, powdery mess that destroyed my vacuum cleaner. I would not recommend this product. I am just going to call an exterminator.

Goodbye outdoor biting ants
By Sue in Carlisle, OH on 06/10/2016
Had ants hills everywhere in my yard and if I did any digging always managed to get in them. Because they bite and no, these are not fire ants, I had to find a way to get rid of them especially in my back yard where the dogs roam. This did the trick!

QDoes diatomaceous earth kill fleas?
AYes, Diatomaceous Earth 85% 4 lb bag is labeled to kill fleas. Thoroughly treat the floor and bedding in and around pets' sleeping quarters. Treat surrounding cracks and crevices, baseboards, carpeting and wherever fleas are suspected. It is also recommended to treat your pets with a product registered for flea control, such as Petcor Flea Spray.
QDoes Diatomaceous Earth kill brown recluses?
ADiatomaceous Earth will kill spiders (including brown recluse spiders), but it works over a period of several days and will not provide a fast knockdown. Diatomaceous Earth will also kill most other insects that come into contact with treated areas which will eliminate the spiders food source. By eliminating the spiders food source, existing spiders will move or starve to death (even if they do not come into contact with treated areas) and new spiders will not move in.
QWill Diatomaceous earth work for Bed Bugs?
worried about bedbugs coming to my house from college apt w/ my child - she found them then came home and then her apt was treated- could buy the diamataceous earth with the calcium bentonite at the local tractor store - so we started that as a first step and are waiting for my order from you to treat the house
AYes, Diatomaceous Earth will kill Bed bugs that come in contact with the treated area. Mainly, you want to focus on cracks, crevices and wall voids. You want to go ahead and start thoroughly cleaning and laundering anything that you can. Also, please read our article How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs.

QWhy does the label say to remove clothing if you get Diatomaceous Earth 85% on it?
When label says safe to put on furniture and mattresses. I am not sure what is really ok.
A When using†Diatomaceous Earth 85% - 4 lbs.†on mattresses you are only applying to areas that do not make contact with humans, folds and edges†as directed on the label. †It would not be applied on other furniture, only under it. †As the product is a desiccant, it can cause skin to dry out, so contact should be avoided. Hence, why you should wash clothing if the product gets on your person during treatment.

QWill Diatomaceous Earth 85% kill fly eggs/larva?
If not, what do you suggest for outdoor use in a dog run area of artificial turf? Thank you!
A Diatomaceous Earth is not labeled for flies.† Are you able to hang a fly trap in the area? If so, we would recommend using the Flies Be Gone Trap. It does need to be placed at least 30 feet away from the area you are wanting to treat. It does have a strong odor when there are flies inside of it. It will protect the area between 50 to 100 yards away.†
