Don't Buy it
By $159 on March 19, 2012
It hasn't yet prevented anything and didn't kill anything that was there...........don't buy this product.
This product does not kill anything that is currently there, because it is a pre-emergent. It will only prevent weed seeds from germinating. If something appears after using this product, then it was not applied soon enough and the weeds already germinated.

Dimension 2EW Herbicide
By C.r. on February 20, 2011
Dimension is an excellent pre-emergent herbicide. We have had no weeds since putting it down. I would recommend it for farmers that need ultimate weed control for roads, driveways, or other ultimate control areas. DoMyOwnPestControl.com has the best price on the net. I have found them to be excellent and the products you see are actually the products that arrive.

Dimension Good Product, Do My Own - Great retailer
By Mel on January 31, 2012
Do my own Pest control is great. Good advisors and quick service. I have used Dimension for several years as a commercial applicator. Works great. One caution is in areas where there is not as much sun. the turf in these areas is generally lest hardy. Dimension can damage this turf, so go lightly in those areas if you can. It's ability to kill the crab grass even after it has emerged (very small plants only) allows you to get away with later application. It seems that we get most of our heavy rains before April, so the early applications often seem to be a waste.

I have wrestled with a vigorous crabgrass invasion and 'Dimension' has exceeded all expectations in controlling this. I estimate a 98% eradication of any new crabgrass seedlings and am left with the best looking bare areas I could wish for. I believe two key steps made this so successful. The first is I made split applications with 8 oz/25 gal tank of water applied in early April (Mid-west), which was followed with a 0.3 inch rainfall. A second application four weeks later was followed with 1.1 inches of rain. When I use Dimension again next year I will dilute even further so more water is used in each application. In total I have treated approx two acres and gained excellent control of crabgrass. Roundup has taken care of those mechanical escapes.

I applied Dimension mixed with Trimec Classic a little later in the spring than I had wanted. Prolonged windy conditions delayed the application. Crabgrass control over very young plants was as good as the directions specified and the Trimec knocked down all clover and broad leaf weeds. Now, a month after the application the lawn is practically weed free.

I was pleased at the quick delivery of the product. It saves me money to use the liquid instead of the granular form of this product.

Excellent Product for Preventing Crabgrass Emergence
By Chad on May 20, 2013
I purchased this product a few weeks ago in half gallon jug. My yard is about 18,000 square feet of grass. Had a big problem with crabgrass infestation every year. Through research, I discovered that crabgrass seeds germinate in the spring when soil temps reach about 50 degrees. I monitored soil temps via a local university agriculture website. When soil temps at 2 inches deep got near 50 degrees I applied Dimension. I measured out 3000 square foot areas and applied the product using a pump sprayer. I put about 5 teaspoons in a gallon of water. One gallon of water seemed to be the right amount to cover the 3000 square foot area. Turned on my sprinklers and made sure each area got a 1/2 inch of watering. I placed a 9x13 pan in each area and watered until the pan had 1/2 inch in it. Days later my crab grass areas are bare with beautiful green desirable grass surrounding. I plan to fertilize over Memorial Day weekend in order to promote desirable grass to spread to the bare areas. Remember this product prevents seed germination, so you must apply before crabgrass emerges and not after.

May 1, 2011 Pom asked:
QCan this product be used with Ortho Dial n Spray and at what dial setting per gallon of water?
How many oz., tsp, or tbls per gallon of water? This is to treat annual bluegrass and crabgrass. Thanks
AYou can use a hose end sprayer to apply this product, but we are not familiar with the Ortho model so we do not know what specifics to give you. As far as application rates, we wish it was that easy. Bluegrass and Crabgrass require slightly different treatments and also depend on where you live and what grass you have currently that you are trying keep them out of, which you did not state. Also, herbicides do not give a water amount. They only tell you how much of the product to apply over 1000 square feet. The amount of water is dependent on how ever much water it takes for you to walk 1000 square feet. Whether you place the amount of product per 1000 square feet in a gallon of water or 10 gallons of water, it does not matter, just as long as that amount of product is distributed over the 1000 square feet. Since you are treating two different types of grasses, we recommend calling the manufacturer since they are the experts on their own product and could probably give you a more definitive answer than we can. They should also be able to better help you with the settings on your hose end sprayer. The manufacturer is Dow Agro and you can reach them at 1-317-337-3000.
March 23, 2011 Mike asked:
QHow much Dimension 2EW would I need to cover two acres?
AYou will need .75 - 3.0 pints of Dimension 2EW per acre. The exact amount you will need will be based on what region you are located in and what program you choose. Please refer to page 5 of the product label for more specific information.
May 1, 2011 Donny asked:
QOnce applied, how long after applying Dimension can we leave the pets outside on the lawn?
AAs soon as Dimension 2EW has dried on the lawn it is safe to allow pets back on the lawn. This depends on how hot it is, but most of the time 1 hour is plenty long enough for the solution to dry.
March 5, 2011 Jim asked:
QWhat is the ground coverage for the 1/2 gallon for use on crabgrass?
AYou will use .33 - .73 of an ounce of Dimension 2EW per 1,000 sq ft. The exact usage rate will depend on your location and the application program you choose. Please refer to pages 4-6 of the product label to find the exact usage rate for your needs. Product labels are always available on our website on each individual product page for your convenience.
January 17, 2011 Pam asked:
QIs Dimension 2EW Herbicide safe to use on St. Augustine lawns? What is the coverage area?
Also, when is the appropriate time to apply in the central Texas area? We've ordered from you before, do you have any special discounts at this time? Thanks.
AYes, Dimension 2EW is safe to use on well established St. Augustine lawns. What season you need to begin applications and usage rate will depend on what you are treating. Pages 4 and 5 of the product label gives you the 3 different options for treatments programs. As for discounts, we do run periodic specials and coupons which we email to our customers that have signed up to receive coupons from us and we always offer a low price guarantee and free shipping.

Gary from Newton, North Carolina asked:
QIs there any benefit to alternating Barricade and Dimensions2EW every other month in North Carolina foothills?
We have had much difficulty controlling crabgrass and dallis grass. I understand they are different. Just looking for the best combination of pre-emergents.
ABarricade and Dimension are actually in the same class of herbicides which means they work with the same mode of action and there would be no benefit to switching between them. We would recommend Barricade because it lasts longer and you will get great control with just Barricade. If you have current weeds (though you should be ahead of the game at this date) try Monument, it will do a great job.

QWhat pre-emergent herbicides are effective for st augustine grass in south Florida?
ADimension 2EW is our most popular pre-emergent product for use on St Augustine grass. We do recommend that you check out the product label and make sure the weeds you are trying to prevent are listed as herbicides can be pretty specific as to what they will or will not work on.

Jaime from Bandera Tx. asked:
QWhat are the ratios for Dimension 2EW?
I bought this from you. I feel like I need an interpreter. We want to use in a one gallon hand sprayer. What is the ratio of liquid to water we should use
A Herbicides are a lot different than other concentrated products and can be hard to understand at first. The application rate depends on the the type of turf you have and how quickly you apply the product. You will need to read the product label to determine the correct usage rate for your needs (you did not give us any information about the type of lawn, region or application program you will be using so we cannot give you exact rates). The amount of water used to apply Dimension herbicide is not critical, but should be sufficient for uniform coverage of the target area. Calibrate by determining the volume of water required to treat 1,000 square feet. Use this calibration volume to determine the amount of water and Dimension herbicide needed to treat the target area (see the following calibration example). Note: Sprayer calibration (volume of spray needed to treat 1,000 square feet) will vary with each individual operator. If you still find you need help figuring out the correct usage rate (we know this label is confusing) please don't hesitate to call us and let one of our customer service representatives help you 866-581-7378 (M-F 9-5 EST)
Steps in Calibration:
1. Mark an area of 1,000 square feet (i.e. 20 by 50 feet or 25 by 40 feet).
2. Place the sprayer on a level surface and add water noting the final level of water in the spray tank.
3. Spray the marked area with a sufficient volume of water to provide uniform coverage. Refill the sprayer to the same level as before measuring the amount of water added. The measured water added to the sprayer is the volume needed to cover 1,000 square feet.
4. Determine the application rate (0.073- .55 fl. oz./1,000 sq. ft.) for Dimension from the Recommendations section of this label.
5. To each volume of water used as measured in step 3, add the amount of Dimension as determined in step 4.
Example: If the sprayer uses 1 gallons of water to cover 1,000 square feet and the desired application rate of Dimension is .55 fluid oz./1,000 square feet, then you would add .55 fluid ounces of Dimension to every 1 gallon of water to be used."

July 17, 2011 John asked:
QIs Dimension or Gallery safe around vineyards?
what would be the best pre-emergent and safe around trees shrubs and lawns? dimension or gallery.
ABoth Dimension and Gallery are great pre-emergents and are OK for use around vineyards. We would have to give a slight edge to Dimension as it is one of our more popular pre-emergents.
