Do dust-mites cause holes in fabric, paper, plastic?

No bugs, insects, noted.. No moths, silver-fish, etc. that could damage above noted either. What could cause above prob.? Pest control co. set insect / pest traps 6 months ago & only have dust and a small spider been seen in traps. Have had a pigeon prob. on outside balcony,, could some type of mites be causing prob? Nothing seen, noted or bother to humans.
