Do wood or oriental roaches ever live in the channels termites or carpenter ants leave in wood?

We are gutting a house and found termite-damaged wood. When we removed it, out scampered brown bugs that looked like roaches--wood or oriental. It seemed liked they were living n the channnels created by a wood-eating insect. Is it possible they are something else that eats wood? They look noting like any of the termites on your site and look exactly like oriental roaches.

Answer:

Yes, wood roaches, or oriental roaches, will live in old termite damage.  They like to hang out in wall voids, wood, etc.  Since you are opening up the walls and replacing the damaged wood, we would recommend dusting the inside of the wall voids before closing them back up with a dust product and a hand duster.  We would recommend that you use Delta Dust and our bellows duster.  Delta Dust:  http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/delta-dust-insecticide-p-44.html hand Duster:  http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/bg-bulb-duster-1150-p-769.html
