Does Advance Carpenter Ant Bait product lose effectiveness over time?

This worked well a few years ago but now the carpenter ants just ignore it. I'm using the same bottle I purchased 3 years ago. Do I need a new, unopened bottle of the stuff or have the ants just wised up?
