Yes, Demand CS will work on ant hills and you would want to do a mound drench on each to ensure the entire colony is affected. Mix the required amount of Demand to each gallon of water and drench each mound with 1-2 gallons of mixed solution to ensure it penetrates through the soil to the full depth of the mound and affects the queen. Just spraying over the top can often only affect half of the colony, and as the queen notices the death taking place around her, she will pick up and move and shut herself off from the colony and start a new one. If dealing with fire ants in particular, we recommend using a product that will affect the colony more as as whole like Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait. It not only is a food source that they will take back and feed to the colony including the queen, but it also contains a birth control to ensure no further colony growth.
