  • Asked by Todd from Peoria, Arizona
    02/06/2017
    Q
Can I use Diuron as a pre-emergent and post-emergent for an all rock landscape yard?
Crushed marble to be exact? Also is Diuron safe for pets?
    A

Drexel Diuron 80 Herbicide is not labeled for use in any residential areas, only around listed crops and in non-crop areas such as utility yards, industrial sites, and uncultivated agricultural areas. We would not recommend using this product around your home. The best way to treat under the landscape would be to remove the rocks and treat the ground below it before replacing the rocks so that you can be sure the herbicide actually reaches the ground below it. If you are able to do this, and there are no desirable plants in the area, then you could use a product such as Martins TVC, which will prevent new plant growth for up to a year when used on the bare ground itself. (You would not want to try to spray this product directly on the rocks because of its blue color.)

If you only get occasional weeds popping up, then it would be easiest just to spot spray as needed with a non-selective post-emergent such as RoundUp QuikPro.

You may have luck using a granule pre-emergent which is then watered into the ground, but it would very important to use a high enough volume of water to carry the active ingredient down into the ground. If the rock layer is thick, then this would not be effective. Keep in mind that many pre-emergent herbicides have a dye in them that could stain the rocks, as well. If you would like to tell us more about what specific weeds you are targeting and how much area you need to treat, then we would be happy to make a more specific recommendation for you.

These products would be pet safe when used as directed. Pets should be kept out of the treatment area until the application has dried.

    Q
Is Drexel Diuron 80 right for my vegetable garden?
I recently planted some okra, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and green beans in my garden and all of these are about 8" tall now but you cannot see them from the 2ft. to 3ft. tall grass and weeds! So is Drexel Diuron 80 the right product for my veggie garden?
    A

  • Asked by Mike from Chesapeak
    09/11/2019
    Q
I have been overwhelmed with chamberbitter in my lawn and want to kill everything, grass included.
I need suggestions for what to use to kill every blade of grass and particularly the chamberbitter in my lawn. I prefer a granular product that will work as a pre and post emergent. My thought is if I can keep everything dead for 2 years that the little seeds that chamberbitter spits out will have run their course and I can be done with it. About 1/4 acre of residential lawn to kill.
    A

We do not have a granule product that would kill what is actively growing and prevent anything from growing back. We do have a liquid option though, which is RoundUp Concentrate Max Control 365.
