    Q
How much do I need to mix with a 2 gal tank? The directions say to mix 1.45 oz of Drive to treat 1000 feet.
Does this mean I need 2.9 oz for a 2 gallon tank. I've gotten conflicting information on how much 2 gallons will treat. Thanks.
    A

The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Drive XLR8 Herbicide is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 1.45 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.45 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.

    Q
How long will take to notice results of Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer after application?
I've recently applied a mixture of 5 ounces of Dive Xlr8 herbicide killer and 5 ounces of Dyneamic Methylated Seed Oil with 2.5 gallons of water to post-emerged crabgrass weeds, how long will the uptake process by the weed?
    A

Normally we suggest giving the product 3 weeks to see results using Drive XLR8 or any selective herbicide. Depending on if you are spot treating or broadcasting the solution determines the mix rate.

Spot Treatment: For a 2 gallon sparyer, Mix 6 tbsp + 3 tbsp of Adjuvent. Apply at the rate of 1 gallon per 1000 sq ft. (1 tablespoon = 0.5 fl oz (0.25 lb ae/A)

Broadcast Application: 1.45 fl ozs per 1000 sq ft / Methylated seed oil at 0.55 fl oz per 1000 sq ft (0.75 lb ae/A)

  • Asked by Bryan from Powhatan Point ,ohio
    08/28/2016
    Q
Is is better to apply Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer to wet or dry grass?
    A

The product label states: "If soil moisture is not sufficient prior to Drive XLR8 application, irrigation may improve weed control. For best results, DO NOT water or irrigate for 24 hours after application. If rainfall does not occur in 2 to 7 days after application, irrigation of at least 1/2 inch is desirable."

As long as your turf is not under stress from drought, you would not need to water before application.

  • Asked by M
    04/21/2011
    Q
Should I start now for crabgrass in Ohio?
    A
We do not know the exact time of year you will start applying Drive XLR8 in Ohio. Weeds grow at different times in different regions and there is no way for us to know if the weeds have started growing in your area yet. According the Drive XLR8 product label you should start applying the product when the weeds are actively growing if you are using it as a broadcast spray. If you are using Drive XLR8 as a spot spray you should use tables 1, 2 and 3 on the product label and apply the product according to the turf species, rate and growth stages indicated in the tables. If you are not sure when the weeds start to actively grow in your region you can contact the master gardener at your local cooperative extension office for more information.
