Dylox 420 SL Insecticide

Dylox 420 SL Insecticide provides fast acting grub control. Dylox 420 SL Insecticide treats surface feeding insects on lawns, landscape and recreational turf, such as golf courses. After irrigation or rainfall, grub control is established in as little as 24 hours and penetrates thatch up to ½ inch thick. Dylox 420 SL Insecticide works by both contact and ingestion. This kills insects on landscape flowers, trees and shrubs instantly within contact. This also works on lawns and turf against damage from predators such as birds, raccoons and skunks. Dylox 420 SL Insecticide is known to be the best product available for third instar grubs because it works later in the season and provides a longer effective application window than other competitors.

Dylox 420 SL is compatible with registered pesticides, fertilizers or micronutrients.

Mixing Instructions

  1. Fill the spray tank 1/4 to 1/3 full with clean water
  2. While recirculating and with the agitatior running, add any products in PVA bags
  3. Continue to fill spray tank with water until ½ full
  4. Add any other wettable powder or wettable granules products
  5. Add any flowable ( FL or SC type products)
  6. Allow enough time for thorough mixing of each product added
  7. Add the required amount of Dylox 420 SL Turf and Ornamental insecticide and any other ‘SL’ type products; emulsifiable concentrates (EC), fertilizers, micronutrients and spray adjuvants

Limit applications to 3 per calendar year with re treatment intervals of 7 days for turf. Do not apply more than 24.5 lbs of active ingredient per acre per year for controlling grubs and no more than 16.2 lbs for surface feeding insects.

5 of 5 stars  Dylox 402 SL for white grubs
By Brent in Midland, MI on 05/14/2014
    Verified Purchase

We tried GrubEx, Diazinon, and most other big box store products over the past 5 years or so with no noticeable impact on our lawn's grub infestation. This product killed the grubs overnight, after watering in. Birds no longer dig out grubs to eat, they just feed on surface insects now. Our lawn is coming back nicely. I applied this in May when the grubs were quite large and the product worked perfectly. I used the label suggested rate of 6.9oz/1000sqft.

QWhat is the ratio of Dylox Concentrate per gallon of water?
How many gallons of Dylox does each 2.5 gal of the concentrate make.

AThe mixing ratio for Dylox 420 SL Insecticide is dependant upon what you are treating for. Typically, you would use 4.6-6.9 oz per 1,000 square feet. Therefore, one 2.5 gallon jug of Dylox 420 SL Insecticide will cover 46,000-69,000 square feet depending on the ratio used. The amount of water is not as important as making sure to mix specified dosage of DYLOX 420 SL Turf & Ornamental Insecticide in sufficient water to provide adequate distribution during application to lawn, turf or groundcover area.

QWill Dylox 420 SL Insecticide kill Billbugs and Grubs?
Looking for a product that will eliminate billbugs and grubs fairly quick. I have tried a number of things with very little to no success over the course of 16 years. I tried Bifen and it helped somewhat, but not the desired results. Will Dylox 420 work with billbug's? I noticed that will work with grubs. I'm just tired of trying with really no results. If there are a couple of products that you recommend, for the two listed pests please let me know. Just wanting the results I have been chasing for 16 years now. Thanks for your help.

Dylox 420 SL Insecticide would only help you with the grub issue and if they are actively feeding, it is not labeled for bill bugs. The best time of treatment for billbugs is the same as the grubs, before they hatch so usually in the spring time is best. We would recommend Merit Insecticide Granules for an early treatment and you can contact your local cooperative extension office if you're not sure when billbugs or grubs hatch in your region. When adult billbugs are first seen, Talstar P (Bifenthrin) or Tempo SC Ultra (Beta-Cyfluthrin) can help. We recommend to look over our billbug treatment guide for further information.

QCan I apply Dylox 420 SL Insecticide after a good rain?
If I apply after a good rain is that good enough to where I don't need to water in the product?

We would advise to apply Dylox 420 SL Insecticide within 24-48 hrs within any rainfall before or after,†mixing at the recommended rates†so that the material can leave the residual to be effective for eliminating the taregted pests in the area.

QIs two gallons of water really the right amount for 1000 sq. ft.??
This question and answer is currently in the Q&A section, but I am curious if the amount of water is correct.

AYes, with Dylox 420 SL Insecticide, you will need to use enough water that is going to give complete coverage of the soil or turf. Two gallons of water will ensure that the product is getting into the soil properly. The type of equipment used will determine the concentration required. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

QHow many ounces of Dylox would you put in a gallon of water?

The amount of Dylox 420 SL Insecticide will depend on the what you are treating for. For most pests, such as cutworms, armyworms, chinch bugs, etc., the mixing ratio is 4.6-6.9 fl. oz. per gallon of water. This will treat 1000 square feet. For mole crickets, the mixing ratio is 6.9 fl. oz. per gallon of water. This will also treat 1000 square feet.

QDoes Dylox 420 SL Insecticide affect Tall Fescue seed?

Dylox 420 SL Insecticide† will not harm the lawn in any way even if it's a new seed. Dylox only last for 48 hours and is designed to knock back heavy populations of grubs and other pests in the lawn that are already heavily feeding on the lawn and doing damage. You would base when to put it down by how bad of a problem you have and how quickly you want to start killing off the insects in the soil that are feeding on the grass and roots.

QShould I apply Dylox 420 SL now or wait until Spring?
I have a grub and digging pest problem that is my destroying lawn.

Dylox 420 SL Insecticide is best product for third instar grubs because it works later in the season and provides a longer effective application window. †It should be applied when they are actively feeding, so whatever time in your area that is, is when you should apply. †Using Dylox will not directly get rid of your digging animal†problem though, such as†moles. When you have digging activity in your yard it can in part be due to a plentiful food supply. Pests such as Moles will feed on grubs, worms and other similar insects living in your turf. Many people will use a product like Dylox to kill the grubs and insects the moles are feeding on†in conjunction with using products designed to either trap, kill, or repel moles. (Moles' primary food source is earthworms, not grubs.)†By removing their food source it helps deter them from your yard. †We have a great guide here for grubs as well.
