Dylox 6.2 Granules - 30lb. bag

Dylox is only active and kills for 48 hours.  Dylox should be watered in for at least 1 to 1.5 hours for best results to ensure the product makes it through the thatch layer to where the grubs are feeding.  Mature grubs usually require at least 2 applications, 3 to 4 days apart.

BAYER's DYLOX 6.2 is the Standard for Curative Grub Control working in arid or rainy conditions. Dylox 6.2 provides fast-acting control of surface-feeding and soil insects, including white grubs, mole crickets, sod webworms, cutworms and armyworms. Not wasting any time, Dylox works immediately after irrigation or rainfall, and penetrates thatch up to 1/2-inch thick when watered properly, providing grub control within 24 hours. Under normal conditions, Dylox controls the pest and then degrades quickly. There are no Dylox restrictions regarding turf species or sites for landscape and recreational-area uses.

Trichlorfon, the active ingredient in Dylox®, is in the organophosphate class of chemistry. Organophosphate insecticides inhibit the breakdown of acetylcholine by cholinesterase, an enzyme that is essential in regulating the proper functioning of the insect nervous system. Dylox works by contact and ingestion. Contact activity provides quick knockdown, while ingestive activity ensures complete pest control.

    1 of 5 stars  Don't do it!
By Lou in Shelton CT. on 09/17/2012
    Verified Purchase

I bought this from Do My Own Pest Control and it didn't work. I followed the instructions. I called DMOPC and was told to call Bayer the maker of this product. I called Bayer and was told by a tech that DMOPC IS NOT on their distributor list. He also said internet companies sometime sell out of date products. I don't know if this is the case or not. All I do know that I still have active grubs. I am going to call customer care at DMOPC and see about a refund..

By Lou in Shelton CT.06484 on 09/17/2012

My last post i explained that the product didn't work for me. Which it didn't. I also mentioned that the Bayer company rep told me that sometimes internet companies have out dated product. I called customer care for DMOPC.com and explained everything to the rep. He offered me to try a different product at no charge to me or a refund. Whichever i wanted. Although this product didn't work for me i am glad that DMOPC does care about customers being satisfied. For that reason i would i highly recommend using Doyownpestcontrol.com I will use them again! They do care about customers!

2 of 5 stars  Better than nothing
By Joe in College Station, TX on 11/19/2011

This thing may have saved my lawn, but not by much. My lawn (St Augustine grass in central TX) was about 50% dead with actively feeding grubs when I decided to try Dylox - store bought brands were not working. I applied as recommended, with higher density application in test areas, just to see how well it worked. It is advertised to kill grubs in 24 hrs, but 4 days later, I still found plenty of actively feeding grubs, and the lawn was still dying, though at a slightly slowed pace. I would say Dylox is about 25% effective, better than nothing, but no miracle...

By Lynn in Atoka, TN on 02/19/2016

This product was recommended by someone to use to help control the over abundance of moles, so we had to get rid of the grub worms. We have just spread it so I'm not sure how well it works yet. We are hoping this will clear our yard of grub worms and moles.

5 of 5 stars  Dylox vs Sevin
By Jeff in Pepper Pike, OH on 10/26/2015

My yard was "under"-run by grubs and over-run by skunks and raccoons digging for them. I applied Sevin as directed, watered thoroughly, yet there were many live grubs when I pulled the grass layer off 10 days later. Dylox was recommended instead. After applying Dylox as directed, within two days, animal digging had ceased. I haven't been inclined to dig up more of my lawn, but I take the lack of digging as prima facie evidence that Dylox worked well.

  • 4 of 5 stars  Don't go light on your application for Sod Web Worms.
By Michael in Wayne,N.J. on 09/30/2015

This needs to be applied generously. If you can put it down with rain guarantied great! If not you need a sprinkler for sure. Sod web worms where having a feast on my lawn. This really helped save my grass from infestation.

1 of 5 stars  Change product
By Ronald in Apollo Beach FL on 12/28/2014

I used Dylox with little success. I was told to use Arena, did, and have had three summers in central Florida bug free. It costs a little more, but it is cheaper than new sod.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
The Arena that you have used is a systemic insecticide, which we would definitely recommend using when you are able to treat early for lawn pests such as grubs. Dylox is a curative insecticide that is only active for about 48 hours after applied, so it should only be applied for fast control of surface-feeding insects.

By Ben in Port Deposit, MD on 11/04/2013

I had a ridiculous quote of $750 to do my yard. I used this stuff and one good application right before a light rain did the trick. Grubbs stopped immediately. Good news is that I have enough left for future use if needed.

5 of 5 stars  best grub killer in the planet
By Henry in Frederick, MD on 09/16/2013
    Verified Purchase

This is the best grub killer in the planet but do not over use because it also kills earthworms and other critters. All grub killers must be put down during the correct weeks and also right before a good soaking rain in order to be effective.

QIs Dylox 6.2 Granules harmful to pets?

QWhat is the setting for a broadcast spreader?

AWe don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting for your needs is outlined below:

If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,00 sq ft you would  add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high.  Typically if you walk at a normal pace and set the spreader at the middle setting, that is usually the right amount per 1000 square feet.

Qdoes the use of dylox on your lawn help drive away moles?

AUsing Dylox will not directly get rid of your moles. When you have mold activity in your yard it can in part be due to a plentiful food supply. Moles will feed on grubs, worms and other similar insects living in your turf. Many people in conjunction with using products designed to either trap, kill, or repel moles, will use a product like Dylox to kill the grubs and insects the moles are feeding on. By removing their food source it helps deter them from your yard. For full information on how to eradicate moles from your residence, see our section on Mole Control.

QIt did not rain after I put down Dylox.
How long before the Dylox will go "stale" after I put it down? Forecast predicted rain, however that was not the case in the end. Will it go bad within a week or so? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

AYou really want to make sure Dylox is watered in within 24 hours of application for peak performance.

QIs Dylox 6.2 Granules safe for vegetables and fruit trees?

AWe apologize but you would not want to use Dylox granules in a vegetable garden or around fruit trees as it is not labeled for use in those areas, and also because this is for quick 24 hour knock down of grubs in a lawn primarily. Depending on the pest you are trying to treat for would depend on what product would be a better recommendation for you.

02/12/2015 Helen from Overland Park, Ks

QI live in planting zone 5b (Overland Park, KS. For the last 2 summers, have had grubs.
Two different lawn companies in 2 different years did not recognize it. Said it was heat, sun, over watering, etc. I had to roll the grass back like a carpet to show them. Both summers, the 2 companies have put down grub control treatment in late June/early July, but it did not work. I had someone else put down Dylox last Sept., as the grubs were still very active. It got rid of the grubs. When & how often do I put Dylox down from now on out where I live? I am not having either company treat for grubs again, since it didn't work.

A

Dylox is only active and kills for 48 hours so should only be applied when grubs are active in the area.  They should not be applied more than 3 times per calender year per the product label. We have a great article here that might help with controlling them.  Milky Spore would be a great product to look at as it can protect your lawn for 15- 20 years when applied as directed.
