Dylox 6.2 Granules - 30lb. bag

Dylox is only active and kills for 48 hours.  Dylox should be watered in for at least 1 to 1.5 hours for best results to ensure the product makes it through the thatch layer to where the grubs are feeding.  Mature grubs usually require at least 2 applications, 3 to 4 days apart.

BAYER's DYLOX 6.2 is the Standard for Curative Grub Control working in arid or rainy conditions. Dylox 6.2 provides fast-acting control of surface-feeding and soil insects, including white grubs, mole crickets, sod webworms, cutworms and armyworms. Not wasting any time, Dylox works immediately after irrigation or rainfall, and penetrates thatch up to 1/2-inch thick when watered properly, providing grub control within 24 hours. Under normal conditions, Dylox controls the pest and then degrades quickly. There are no Dylox restrictions regarding turf species or sites for landscape and recreational-area uses.

Trichlorfon, the active ingredient in Dylox®, is in the organophosphate class of chemistry. Organophosphate insecticides inhibit the breakdown of acetylcholine by cholinesterase, an enzyme that is essential in regulating the proper functioning of the insect nervous system. Dylox works by contact and ingestion. Contact activity provides quick knockdown, while ingestive activity ensures complete pest control.

2 of 5 Stars  Better than nothing
By Joe on November 19, 2011

This thing may have saved my lawn, but not by much. My lawn (St Augustine grass in central TX) was about 50% dead with actively feeding grubs when I decided to try Dylox - store bought brands were not working. I applied as recommended, with higher density application in test areas, just to see how well it worked. It is advertised to kill grubs in 24 hrs, but 4 days later, I still found plenty of actively feeding grubs, and the lawn was still dying, though at a slightly slowed pace. I would say Dylox is about 25% effective, better than nothing, but no miracle...

    1 of 5 Stars  Don't do it!
By Lou on September 17, 2012

I bought this from Do My Own Pest Control and it didn't work. I followed the instructions. I called DMOPC and was told to call Bayer the maker of this product. I called Bayer and was told by a tech that DMOPC IS NOT on their distributor list. He also said internet companies sometime sell out of date products. I don't know if this is the case or not. All I do know that I still have active grubs. I am going to call customer care at DMOPC and see about a refund..

By Ben on November 4, 2013

I had a ridiculous quote of $750 to do my yard. I used this stuff and one good application right before a light rain did the trick. Grubbs stopped immediately. Good news is that I have enough left for future use if needed.

5 of 5 Stars  best grub killer in the planet
By Henry on September 16, 2013

This is the best grub killer in the planet but do not over use because it also kills earthworms and other critters. All grub killers must be put down during the correct weeks and also right before a good soaking rain in order to be effective.

This stuff kills the grubs immediately. Instructions on the package are simple and easy. Product descriptions on the website can really help you find the right product for you. The prices from Do My Own Pest Control are the best. Almost everything is shipped for free and the shipping is almost always expedited. Orders are processed and shipped within 24 hours. The product selection is probably the best you will find anywhere. Many hard to find products are available here. I highly recommend this company. I have been purchasing for 2 years and everything has always been great.

I've used two bags of this over the past 12 months, but to be honest, I don't know that I needed the follow-up treatments. It's not a cure-all; it's pretty focused on a few, insidious bugs. I had a very, very bad grub problem on new St. Augustinegrass. Two weeks after using Dylox, new growth was apparent, and the previously spreading dead spots were shrinking. This chem will be on my todo list every spring from now on.

By David on October 22, 2012

I became aware that my lawn was quite over run with grubs. There were more than 15 per square foot, and the grass was being killed before my eyes. I used a drop spreader to apply the product. It was easy to calibrate the spreader and I saw results within a few days. I scheduled the application so that it could be watered in naturally. The evening that I applied the product it rained and the results were amazing!

March 26, 2011 Bob asked:

QWhat is the setting for a broadcast spreader?

AWe don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting for your needs is outlined below:

If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,00 sq ft you would  add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high.  Typically if you walk at a normal pace and set the spreader at the middle setting, that is usually the right amount per 1000 square feet.

May 20, 2013 William from St.clairsville,ohio asked:

Qdoes the use of dylox on your lawn help drive away moles?

AUsing Dylox will not directly get rid of your moles. When you have mold activity in your yard it can in part be due to a plentiful food supply. Moles will feed on grubs, worms and other similar insects living in your turf. Many people in conjunction with using products designed to either trap, kill, or repel moles, will use a product like Dylox to kill the grubs and insects the moles are feeding on. By removing their food source it helps deter them from your yard. For full information on how to eradicate moles from your residence, see our section on Mole Control.

May 26, 2014 Dana&kari; asked:

QDoes dylox 6.2 harm my flowers we just had some applied by a lawn care and my flowers are looking wilted?

A Typically, Dylox 6.2 Granules is not harmful to ornamentals or flowers in treated turf if used according to the product label. We would guess that the flowers may have been attacked by surface and soil feeding insects which could account for the wilting. However, we would recommend that you contact the manufacturer, Bayer for their advice since the application was performed by a lawn care company.

April 8, 2014 Ronny asked:

QIn Nashua NH when is the best time to apply Dylox

A  Dylox 6.2 Granule is best applied when you see turf damage from the grubs actively feeding. This time is normally from July to September. You can also contact the manufacturer Bayer 800-331-2867 for the best time to apply in your specific area.

April 4, 2014 Jet from Valley Center, Ks asked:

QWill Dylox 6.2 Granules harm the earthworms where it is applied?

A There is not any product including Dylox 6.2 Granules that is labeled to eradicate earthworms as they are beneficial insects. We cannot say for certain the effects of the products on earthworms. We recommend that you speak to the manufacturer for further information. They can be reached at 800-331-2867.

March 25, 2014 Jerry from Warwick,ri asked:

QI live in the Northeast. If I apply Dylox.6.2 in the spring, will it last the entire season?

A Dylox is formulated to provide a quick kill of the grubs that are actively feeding and then the product degrades quickly. This means that repeat treatments would be necessary. Dylox is the product of chocie if you are currently seeing turf damage (this usually occurs from July-September depending on the type of grubs you have).  Arena Granules, Merit Granules or Dominion 2L will work well as a preventative if applied prior to egg hatch. You should check with your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to establish the best time to put down a preventative treatment in your region.

October 13, 2013 Diane from Pa asked:

QWe used a broadcast spreader to apply a grub control product which contained Dylox.
It is possible that some of the granules landed on green pepper plants in the garden. The product was applied on a Friday, but good drenching rain did not occur until Monday. Are the green peppers edible or were they contaminated for human consumption?

A We recommend that you discard the the green peppers and contact the manufacturer for additional information. They can be reached at 800-331-2867.

QCan I apply Dylox 6.2 Granules in Sept in PA?

A

Curative grub control products, like Dylox, usually work best when the grubs are small and actively feeding near the surface. Merit or other imidacloprid based products (Imidigold, Dominion 2L) work best early in the season and should be applied prior to egg hatch. You should contact your local coopertaive extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to determine the best time to apply each product in your region.
