How Eco PCO WP-X Works
Eco PCO WP-X is a wettable powder concentrate with botanical active ingredients. Once diluted with water and applied with a sprayer, Eco PCO WP-X leaves a residual that kills target pests by contact and ingestion for up to 3 months. The active botanicals in Eco PCO WP-X include Pyrethrins, a common botanical insecticide derived from the chrysanthemum flower which attacks insects’ central nervous system. Though these ingredients are deadly to insect pests, they are gentle around people and pets and safe to use in a wide variety of areas.
Eco PCO WP-X Target Pests

Target Uses of Eco PCO WP-X
EcoSMART is now featuring a new line of natural botanical pesticides. This new line is the EcoPCO line, designed to be environmentally safe for use around your home and family and be just as effective as other "chemical" insecticides. The active ingredients in these products are derived from plant oils such as rosemary, wintergreen and thyme. Eco PCO WP-X is a wettable powder residual that will remain effective for up to 3 months. Eco PCO WP-X is comparable to chemical insecticide products such as Tempo Ultra WP, Demon WP, and Cynoff WP.
Eco PCO WP-X is ideal when both a wettable powder concentrate formulation and all natural ingredients are desired. Eco PCO WP-X has a broader label than similar products, and it is National Organic Program (NOP) compliant. Eco PCO WP-X is not labeled for edible vegetation.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Phenethyl propionate, 3%, Thyme oil, 5%, Pyrethrins, .05%
Eco PCO WP-X Application Instructions
For best results, ECOPCO WP-X should be used as follows:
1. Fill applicator tank ½ full with water
2. Add desired amount of ECOPCO WP-X according to indications on product label
3. Allow about 2 minutes for powder to wet
4. Agitate tank by stirring or shaking
5. Fill the tank the rest of the way with water and agitate again to ensure satisfactory suspension.
Upon standing without agitation for more than 1 hour, the applicator tank should be agitated, stirred, or shaken again to achieve satisfactory suspension. Make up only amount of application volume as required. This product should not be mixed with oil.
Always read the product label completely before use.
A 1 pound jar of Eco PCO WP-X yields 8-32 gallons of finished solution.
Standard Application Dilution rates / Mixing Ratios for ECO PCO WP-X:
*3 tablespoons or 15 grams (0.5 oz.)/gal. of water – 0.0125% – maintenance/prevention, crawling and flying pests, ornamental landscape pest control; stored product and pantry pests
*12 tablespoons/ ¾ C or 60 grams (2 oz.)/gal. of water – clean-out, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, fire ant mounds, scorpions, spiders, wasps
*For barrier treatments, use 3 tbsp (15 g; 0.5 oz.)/gal. of water and apply 1-5 gallons of treatment solution to 800-1600 square feet.
Eco PCO WP-X is for use in the following areas:
In and around homes, offices, hotels, motels, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, daycare centers, factories, warehouses, stores, supermarkets, restaurants, food-handling establishments, commercial or institutional kitchens, food processing plants, zoos, and transportation equipment (aircraft (not cabins), buses, trucks, trailers, boats, ships, and trains); livestock housing structures including poultry houses, pet kennels; ornamental landscapes, trees, shrubs, evergreens, flowers, foliage plants, ground covers
*Not for use on edible vegetation.
EcoPCO WP-X is intended as a general surface, spot, or crack and crevice application indoors.
For crawling pests indoors -- Apply as a coarse, low-pressure treatment to areas where these pests hide or where they may enter the premises. Applications should include cracks/crevices and void areas around and behind interior and exterior walls, cabinets, baseboards, moldings, sinks, pipe openings, storage areas, closets, and appliances. Repeat as necessary.
Pantry Pests (exposed stages) -- Make application to cupboards, shelving and storage areas. Particular attention should be given to treating cracks and crevices and other harborage areas. Remove all utensils, uncovered foodstuffs (or any with package opened), shelf paper and other objects before treating. Allow treated surfaces to dry and cover shelves with clean paper before replacing utensils, foodstuffs or other items.
Stored Product Pests (exposed stages) -- Apply to cracks, crevices and other surfaces where the pests have been seen or have harborage. Treat warehouses, production facilities, storage areas, rail cars, truck beds and other areas where products are stored before filling with the product. EcoPCO WP-X may be used by pest control operators and grain producers to treat grain storage facilities and other areas noted above for stored product pest control. Cleaning of all areas prior to treatment will increase levels of control.
See label for complete application instructions.
Use 3 tbsp (0.5oz.)/gal. of water for most pests. Use 12 tbps (2 oz.)/gal. of water for fire ant mounds, scorpions, spiders, wasps, and similar pests. See above for mixing instructions.
Barrier Treatment -- To help prevent infestation of buildings, apply to a band of soil and vegetation 6 to 10 feet wide around and adjacent to the building. Also, treat the building foundation to a height of 2 to 3 feet where pests are active and may find entrance. Apply as a coarse spray treatment to thoroughly and uniformly wet the foundation and/or band area, using 1 to 5 gallons of treatment solution applied to 800 to 1600 square feet.
Fire ant mounds -- Apply as a drench. Gently sprinkle (watering can) a total of 1 gallon over the surface of mounds up to 1 inch in diameter and 2 gallons for larger mounds. Thoroughly wet mound and surrounding areas. Treat new mounds as they appear. All colonies in the vicinity should be treated.
Scorpions -- Treat and remove accumulations of lumber, firewood, and other materials that serve as harborage sites. Apply as a coarse spray to the point of drip.
Broadcast applications -- Mix required amount of product in sufficient water to uniformly and accurately cover the area being treated. Do not use less than 2 gallons of water per 1000 sq. ft. For optimum control, irrigate thoroughly to incorporate EcoPCO WP-X insecticide into the upper soil profile.

A true hidden treasure
By Stephen in Augusta, GA on 04/30/2009
I have to let others know what a hidden treasure this product truly is! I am a professional “Pooper-scooper”, which means I am in many different yards every day as I am working. Also because of my unique job, my client base ranges from a typical 1 dog home, all the way up to hunting kennels with an excess of 75 dogs being housed. Because of my wide customer base, and the Georgia climate, I was seeking a product to help with controlling both fleas and flies. With a little research I chose Eco PCO WP-X to be my first test product. After a little trial and error on learning the most effective application rates and amounts, I have to now admit that I was surprised and pleased that it works so well! Not many products actually do what the labels claim they do each and every time used. This product has drawn praise for me from all my customers whenever it is applied. Add to the fact that not only does it effectively kill fleas and flies, but also a wide range of other secondary insects too. During treatment of barrier areas for fleas and flies, I discovered the added bonus that it works very well on Fire-Ants too! Eco PCO-WP is now a clear influence in cutting the flea and fly issues for my customers. This product has definitely helped my little business to impress, keep, and build my customer base.

Not as good as Cyper WP or Bifen I/T
By Joe in El Paso on 05/17/2010
The residual action on this product is almost none existent. You almost have to spray the bugs directly in order to notice a significant effect. Even if you mix a lot more, you will end up using a 1 pound bag very fast. When I used Cyper WP or Bifen IT the residual action keeps on killing roaches, spiders, crickets, etc... weeks after I sprayed. Cyper and Bifen also lasted longer because you did not need to use a lot for them to be effective.

Organic Pest Control! Great stuff!
By Mark in Hopatcong, NJ on 08/27/2010
I love the whole line of EcoSmart pest control products. We use the Eco PCO wettable powder for a variety of organic insect treatments. It works great! We have had no complaints from our technicians or our customers. It's easy to mix in the spray tanks and does not have a bad odor. It might leave a white stain on wood surfaces, so make sure you do a test before spraying the entire surface. Go green with Eco Pco Wpx.

As a licensed professional, I have used this product for nearly a decade, and it is nothing short of amazing. I have used lots of the pyrethroid products on Brown Recluse Spiders, and BY FAR this one worked the best. Great for fire ant mounds, too. Has a sort of "bengay" smell, but it's not overpowering.

Easy to use and effective
By Renee in Long Beach, CA on 10/26/2012
We bought this to use against an ant infestation, but ended up using it for a termite uprising in some new construction. It worked immediately. (The lumbar yard assured us that the wood had been pretreated, but now we know we should always treat it ourselves. Interestingly, the adjoining room - which we treated with BoraCare over a year ago - showed no signs of infestation.) As a happy bonus, the same spray worked to control the ants. It worked so well, we ordered two more containers to keep on hand.

Very Safe, Works Okay, But There are Better
By Justin in Port Royal, SC on 04/20/2014
I live in an apartment and had a small colony of German roaches behind the refrigerator. Since, we are contracted with a Pest Control company, I let them take care of the problem but noticed no difference and would still see as many as four (4) roaches a day! I wasn't home, so I don't know what they did, but I gave it two weeks because some products take time... no improvement! Got everything immaculately clean so as to not have a crumb of food for these buggers, and called them back a second time (two weeks later) and met the pest control guy, who was quite apathetic and lazy... He tried to get in/out in one (1) minute - understandable being list is probably quite long. He baited the buggers behind the refrigerator with Vendetta (also sold here), and briefly sprayed the baseboards (not on top of the bait) with EcoPCO... I don't know which concentration he used (maintenance or clean-out) only that it was probably mostly for show. Researching the products myself, I determined this EcoPCO WPX is among the *greenest* products, so I bought it, the exact same product our pros use! Unlike some other products the downside from what I have been reading is that this product kills only insects that directly come into contact with it (understandable). It also leaves some small water spots on surfaces painted with semi-gloss paint (i.e. window ledges) which my other synthetic product didn't. It is hard to judge this product being the bait worked so well, but I found a dead roach on the window ledge, so it must work. That said, I expected to see more dead roaches near the baseboards. Realistically, killing on contact does not necessarily mean kills instantly! Either way my problem is totally resolved! While there are certainly faster, more efficacious products, in terms of being safe and green, you probably cannot get a better product in this price range! It is certainly vastly superior to ANYTHING sold in stores!

I run a franchise of a major pest company and we switched to this product for our perimeter treatments a while back. Call backs were cut to a third once we switched from using bifen I/T or Cyper. Like any product, knowing what you're doing makes a huge difference in your results. You can't simply spray the baseboards and hope for there to magically be no spiders (which i would never recommend as it's irresponsible and ineffective with repellants, you can't kill the bugs with a product if they avoid touching it). But this product, when used with sound IPM principles, has been a godsend

The Best formulation you can get
By Chad in San Antonio, tx on 11/02/2013
The container says to use just a little powder which I have never done. I mix it strong in the sprayer jug and it defiantly works well. Just don't mix so much powder that everything you spray turns powdery white after drying. Between this and non toxic sticky boards, ill never have to use toxic poison again.

I`m in a apartment and have a roach problem.Tried the Eco PCO WP and it didn`t seem to work very well on the cockroaches.Tried it outside for a ant and stink bugs problem.Did not work for the ants but did work on the stink bugs.Used it around the base of the walls and not real sure if it helped for pests. The white residue I didnt consider and would change products for that reason alone.

DMOPC Service and using EcoPco WP-X
By Tim in Greenville, SC on 01/24/2011
Dear Friends, We did receive our order of the case of Eco PCO WP-X in a very timely manor. Your service is great and we value it very much. WP-X is a good product that mixes well and is easy to use. We have had no problems with clogging the sprayer. It has proven to be very effective in home use and is not a danger to home pets. We will continue to use it. Tim

Been using for three years since I moved to rural area with chickens and livestock, and on well water became more environment oriented. I like that it works, is more earth friendly and doesn't smell like poison. Down side it takes a lot per use, cups vs scoops. Just buy two jars.

Ask our product experts...
Ask a Question
QCan I use EcoPCO WP-X on Earwigs and pillbugs in my organic vegetable garden?
I maintain a chemical-free vegetable garden, using soap and pre-emergent oil treatment for fruit trees. Pill bugs and earwigs have been difficult to control with natural methods this far. I have a family member who has cancer, so I do not want any harmful chemicals on our food.
AUnfortunately, EcoPCO WP-X is not labeled for use on edible plants. Products that can be used on edible plants are very limited and are usually labeled for only certain types of plants and only certain types of pests. We recommend you contact your local cooperative extension office for product recommendations for your situation.
QIs Eco PCO WP-X safe for use on or around edible or food producing plants?
QWill rain wash Eco PCO WP-X away?
I am just wondering if the rain will wash the residual powder away? I live in Washington State and it rains alot up here. Would I need to re-treat the perimeter after it rains? Can you recommend a substitute product for ant control that is better suited for a wet climate that is also kid-safe.
AEco PCO WP-X will hold up to rain very well as will most of the products that we sell. It is actually not rain that is the real threat. UV light is what breaks pesticides down the most. You should apply the product when it is not raining and also hopefully when it is not going to rain for at least a few hours so it has time to dry. Once it has had at least a few hours to dry and adhere to the surface that you applied it on it should provide a good 30 to 45 days of residual protection, rain or shine. It is usually a good idea to re-apply every 30 to 60 days during the summer to get the best results.
QI'm thinking of buying Eco PCO WP-X. I was wondering if I can spray this on my siding?
I have cedar siding, and it is a dark brown. I need to spray for box elder bugs, and I need to spray higher than what I have read(2 feet up the foundation). I want to know before I buy this product because I heard it works great.
AEco Pco WP-X can be sprayed on your siding, but it may leave a white powdery residue behind. The residue will eventually wear off or you can wash it off after it is no longer effective. If the powdery residue is not acceptable to you, you may want to try Talstar P. Talstar P is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and will not break down easily with rainfall and is highly recommended for box elder bugs.
QWe have an infant with a sensitive respiratory system. Is Eco PCO WP-X safe to use for indoor treatment?
AEco PCO WP-X is normally very safe for indoor treatments. All occupants need to be out of the house while the application is being made and can return as soon as it is dry. Because people with certain respiratory conditions can be sensitive to things that do not bother other people at all, we recommend you speak to the infants doctor to be sure using the product indoors would be acceptable.

QWill Eco PCO WP-X work very effectively against mosquitos?
I live near a lake and way out in the wood there are TONS of mosquitoes but I want something to spray on my dogs and around their pen to help them not get carried away by mosquitoes (they are that bad) Will this be very effective?
AEco PCO WP-X does not actually list mosquitoes on the product label nor can it be used on pets. We would recommend using the EcoTreat - Natural Outdoor Insect Control for around the pens and in the yard and the Biter Fighter Natural Insect Repellent for spraying on the dogs themselves. Be sure to spray the undersides of leaves on trees and bushes as this is where mosquitoes like to hang out during the heat of the day.

QIs this the safest insecticide for humans to use? If not, what are some of the safest products that work?
AIn order for us to accurately answer your question we need to first know what you are trying to treat for and in what area you are needing to treat. We look forward to hearing back from you so that we may help your situation.
08/29/2013 Bryan from Indiana
QIs Eco PCO WP-X effective for killing carpenter ants?
If so, how long does it remain effective before needing another application?
AEco PCO WP-X will kill carpenter ants that come in contact with the treated area. The residual of Eco PCO WP-X is approx 3 months. We highly recommend using a carpenter ant bait that will taken to back to the colony to eradicate the colony. Please check out our Carpenter Ant Kit #1. This kit combines Advance Carpenter ant bait with Maxforce carpenter ant gel for treating carpenter ant infestations in and around homes and offices. Both baits work together to eliminate the carpenter ant colony. Certain carpenter ants may take better to one bait than the other, giving you a greater chance of bait acceptance and effectiveness.

QWill Eco PCO WP-X kill spider?
I am looking for product that don't leave any white residue on dark surface. We use black lava rocks for our flower beds. Is the ECO PCO WP-X perform comparable to Cyber WP? Thanks!
AAll wettable powder insecticides including Eco PCO WP-X will leave behind white powdery residues. If you would like to use a product that will kill spiders and is all natural like the Eco PCO WP-X but won't leave behind the unsightly residue we recommend using Essentria IC3.
06/07/2012 Vern from Sunrise, Fl
QGeneral surface treatment
What is the recommended product for spraying inside around baseboards and appliances - Eco PCO WP-X or Eco PCO AR-X? Are both products safe for infants? We have a 9 months old who touches every surface with his wet little hands and puts everything in his mouth of course. I'm concerned that he would pick up the residue.
ABoth products would be safe to use in a home with an infant as long as you follow the product label instructions. Both products would be suitable for the application you described but we would recommend the Eco Pco AR-X because it comes with a straw attachment to help you get the product directly into the cracks and crevices around baseboards, door frames and window frames and will dry clear. The WP-X will leave behind a white powdery residue and will require you to apply it using hand pump sprayer which will not be as precise as the straw applicator on the AR-X.

QIs Eco PCO WP-X meant to protect from bedbugs?
AEco PCO WP-X is not labeled for bedbugs. If you want an all natural bedbug control program you should consider purchasing Eco Exempt IC-2 plus Adjuvant along with Eco PCO D-X Dust and MotherEarth 2% Py Aerosol. Using these products in combination with each other every 7-10 days can help eliminate a bedbug infestation.
QWhat do you recommend to spray on siding to exterminate wasps?
I'd prefer something non-toxic, and I've heard of Tri-Die and other desiccant dusts, but would they work on (or stick to) siding? Any other product recommendations for wasp control would be awesome. Thanks.
AWe see that you are looking for something that is "non-toxic". All insecticide products including Tri-Die have some level of toxicity but certain products have lower toxicity levels than others. We recommend that you use a product from the natural insecticide line that we carry. EcoPCO WP-X is a concentrated wettable powder insecticide that is made from a variety of botanical extracts and is labeled for wasps. EcoPCO WP-X will need to be mixed with water and can be applied to exterior surfaces where you see insect activity. Tri-Die is not labeled for wasps and most likely would not provide satisfactory results when used in the manner you have described.
QIs EcoPCO WP-X safe to spray on plants?
The boxelders have finally moved outside! But there are tons of them! They are in my flower beds. Can I spray the product directly onto the flowers and foliage? Thank you!
AEcoPCO WP-X can be used on plant foliage. You will need 3 tablespoons or 15 grams of EcoPco WP-X per gallon of water. Direct contact with the actual flowers should be avoided as bruising may occur.
QIs Eco PCO WP-X USDA NOP approved?
AWe are not sure what you mean by USDA approved, but Eco PCO WP-X is NOP (National Organic Program) compliant. If you have more specific questions, you can contact the manufacturer, Prentiss 800-652-2427, as they are the experts on their product.
QCan you spray Eco PCO WP-X directly on your mattress to get rid of mites?
